Yeah EU + NA is pretty even.....I give the edge to EU by a bit though. Usually the ping is acceptable on both, but then there is the odd time you get +250 ping on EU and its unplayable.

I kinda wish you could see stats "by percentile". Actually just by decile, but that term is not used very much.

AKA "the top 10% of players win with drow 70% of the time, but the next 10% are only at 65% winrate..." etc etc.

Because I feel like the hero is too good, but still addressable in game, and I'm curious to know at what skill level is she too easy to crush with vs at what skill level is she too easy to gank or w/e.

From playing on noob to very high account games this past patch (I have some very bad friends just getting into it) Drow is really strong at low levels and low-mid and high-veryhigh levels, less so in the mid-level games (but once people learn they need to turn the aura on it gets really hard). Jakiro follows the same pattern as drow.

Centaur is strongest at low levels and gets worse the higher the skill level of the game. Which isn't to say he's useless at high levels of play, just that he's a good pubstomper and I would 100% of the time rather face centaur than drow.

edit -
Also, SEA servers have the worst ping but I think the highest skill level. EU ladder is easier than NA for me because there are more players on the EU ladder.

Well, if its common to play stacks of pros on EU, than I will give the advantage to them as well

What are the odds that we get no update this week and instead valve spends their time reviewing their little contest?

There will be an update, but it won't include a hero.

It works exactly like any other MMR system by trying to match you with players around your skill level. There is no trickery involved with this system. You play better players by playing better.

You win, you gain MMR, you play against better players. You lose, you lose MMR, you play against less good players.

If you play against people much better than you and win, you gain a lot of MMR. If you play against people of a lower level than you and win, you gain less MMR. Vice versa for losing.

Well if I play support and go like 2-8-25 enigma every game compared to 25-0-0 drow, how do you max your MMR qucickest?

Your stats have no effect on your MMR, only wins and losses do. So if you want to 'max MMR', try to play your hardest to win every game.

You maximize your MMR the quickest by not caring about it. Just play the best you can and you will naturally reach whatever level you should be at. MMR systems are designed to work over the long term.

Just about the only way to "artificially" raise your MMR is to play overpowered heroes and/or heroes you are very good at (for your skill tier). That way, you will be playing at a higher level than your mmr and you *should* win enough games to move up. Careful though, because if you go back to playing stuff you are less pro at, you will be against very good players.

Don't forget, being matched WITH good players goes hand in hand with being matched AGAINST good players. Valve doesn't promise anything about your teammates skill level, just that every game the teams should go into it with something like equal chances at victory.

If you waited 5+ minutes in queue then your game may end up very unbalanced

Try to queue with people you know as well. This generally raises your mmr fast because you won't have to deal with bm/feeders/leavers,etc. Also, 5 stacks tend to have above 50% winrates anyways.

edit: If you don't know anyone that plays Dota 2, try to ask in the TeamLiquid channel in-game. I see people asking for games all the time, and from each bracket as well.

Pretty sure I Invoker'd my way up to Very High and now I lose everything when I don't play him.

Just be aware that grouping up artificially inflates your team's mmr for that game

That is, while your real MMRs won't change, you will be matched against better players (or other premade groups of similar sizes and skills). That is part of how Valve attempts to get groups fair matches.

So if your goal is to have good opponents, then group with allies, preferably a lot of them. Also, your "team" mmr is heavily skewed towards the best player on it. If you can find a really good player to queue with your lower MMR (compared to your ally) shouldn't drag you down that much in terms of opponents.

Well, Invoker is a pretty tough hero, so I am sure with minimal work you can match your skill with other heroes, to your skill with invoker.

I dunno, there is something special about heavy-invoker players. I have a friend who is like this as well.

I mean, have you seen CatZ try to play other heroes? His invoker is pretty good really, but most everything else is... hard to watch.

Half the time I feel like those guys are playing something like DDR instead of Dota 2 XD.

Invoker is much more powerful than most heroes once you reach certain skill level, he also has really big weakness and has relatively easy laning. I can see why Invo players may have issues with other heroes

Does playing "well" on a horrible feeder team positively affect your MMR? Or is it just the loss that the algorithm reads?
For instance, if I maintain a positive ratio, do I still receive the same MMR "score" as the 1-12 Huskarr?
Time held me green and dying though I sang in my chains like the sea.
