5 games of 30-1 score and then bam, known names, wtf.
Valve has done a very good job with ranking atm. Only thing missing to be perfect is a separate ladder/mmr for parties, meaning one for parties, one for soloers.

Okay, but if you wanna Queue as 4, then you have to have a solo matched with you. Maybe force that to be matched with premade 4+1s as well? That is going to elicit some really long queue times at non-peak hours. Matchmaking is really hard to do right.

*sigh. It's most common to invis carries like BH, Clinkz, or bursters like Nyx. They get a positive score but loses the game, and blames the loss to everyone else. You try to criticize their play but they respond with this: "noob, look at your score." They avoid dying because they are never in team fights, and just farm all game.

Yeah, furion is capable of having great stats while doing incredibly little for their team. However, it is nice when playing furion to know that if the game goes bad, even if its partly your fault because you didn't contribute enough, you will still have decent stats and can easily avoid being fountain farmed etc. Might not be the best attitude, but you have to survive some pub games however you can. EDIT: for what its worth (nothing), I do my best to be as active as possible on Furion, abusing global TP as much as possible. I do find myself TP'ing in without mana for sprout more often than I should though.

I'm only talking about items, I know some abilities give you damage block (Tide's), but it clearly states nothing stacks on top of that. How about PMS/Vanguard/Stouts? I was in a game where I got PMS and Vanguard on Slark (don't ask me why), and it looked like I was blocking either the 20 from PMS, and up to 40 for Vanguard? I had the PMS first if that matters.

I'll follow-up on this but pretty sure it'll check Vanguard first and if it doesn't block, it'll check the PMS. They won't both block the same instance of damage (it'll be one or the other or neither). EDIT, found this: http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/Damage_block

So from that, I'd assume that if a Melee hero is attacking you, you will always block 20 damage, but by 70% chance could block 40 due to Vanguard?

It will do the 70% check for 40 damage block from a hero otherwise you'll just get the 20 damage block from PMS. It sounds like getting PMS after vanguard makes vanguard's block useless haha.

Good. Not so bad investment then. You can always just drop both items and then pick up the PMS/Stout first then the Vanguard. But Tide's Kraken Shell will NOT allow any of this?

Seems like an extremely hard scene for someone to break into. I don't see what makes DotA2 any harder of a scene to break into based on that criteria. You might get noticed by a stack and start playing with them if you're that good, maybe you make friends with other soloers and put something together yourself... Or you can post in various team recruitment threads.

Mainly because games like LoL/Sc2 you have a ladder and high ranked people generally get invited to play with people based on their rank alone just seems dota lacks this aspect of community because of an esoteric MMR system.

Well, if you're good enough to be queuing games with "pro's", they probably recognize you have an MMR close to theirs. I don't think an exact rating by then really matters but I suppose you do have a point.
