Though honestly you probably don't need that much mana since you can probably dominate the lane with less. Soul Ring is more than Bottle with just runes. But its less than Bottle-crowing (a round trip on the courier to and from mid tower takes exactly 30 seconds), and much less than both together.

I must brag about this. I played pub Captains Mode with 4 randoms (nobody knew each other on our team), each of us having 80 wins or less and we BEAT DOWN a pre-made team that had 300+ wins each. They even had clan tags on so they are serious try hards. They were doing tri-lanes, 5-man first blood, and roaming as a team all game. All their game history is playing together.

Our picks were not even the best either. The Batrider was playing his first time as that hero, and we just played like the usual pubbing style...
I never felt any better winning this game lol. Sorry for my shameless boast post!

Being a tryhard is not a bad thing.

Being a tryhard and still losing to pubs with so few wins between them is

a while ago I played with a dude who randomed leshrac. He immediately ran to the secret shop where he waited to buy a void stone.
Guy had 1000+ games. Games played does not equal skill or even the ability to learn from experience.

37 minute game with a tide without boots. I am thinking they PERHAPS weren't taking it super serious. But still well done looks like a sick game
I have started playing with the same people nearly everygame on SEA, mainly can tell because of the total i have muted before the game............

True, but still it's pretty obvious that these guys had more experience than us, especially when they all go clan tag.

He sold his items at the end to put wards on fountain when we were finishing game. He had blink dagger and arcane boots.

Its better than some builds - at least there is regen :S

If I'm going to make a joke build, I'd at least take a bracer.

The best way to use random gold starts is obviously to buy regen + 4x your +3 main stat item.
Which reminds me--the game has an item that builds from 2xSlippers (PMS) and one that builds from 2xGauntlets (Urn), but we still don't have a 2xMantle item.

Not sure If I agree on this. You dont always have to have regen from level 1 in a lane. For sure offlane its normal to get alot of regen and its normal to get regen in side lanes, but you dont need that much, as it really depends who you are laning against and how aggressive they can be. But most importantly if you are mid, you some times do not need regen at lvl 1 at all. Because generally you will be aiming for fast bottle anyway, so whats point spending money on regen which you may not need.
I think too many people instantly buy tango/flasks without really thinking about who they will be laning against and what their early item build will be. (for example if you are vs batrider or zeus, you will be making sure you have a magic stick!) If you are mid you really shouldn't need tangos at all. 1 flask is more than enough, anymore, and you are playing horribly.
I also see too many people buying 2x gauntlets on heroes that have terrible mana pools. (like getting 2x gauntlets on sven. why??? urn is not that great for him..) Branches are just soo much more cost effective and give you needed boost to mana pool, albeit small..
