I really don't think it's a big deal, it's not even that expensive, compared to other paid tournaments, and it's a fairly big one. How long will it last, compared to G-1? From the JD post it even seems like they did most of the work on the courier.

I'm not too happy how the relationship between joindota and valve is :S. I wish the other leagues would get more support. Why? Cyborgmatt said any tournament/team are free to make cosmetic items for their tournaments. They took the initiative to make their own courier for their own tournament. Why be mad at anyone.

So you are telling me Joindota was the first tournament with a ingame ticket and a courier drop because... I'm not hating on valve or joindota. It's just weird that joindota comes out with these things always first. Either Joindota is super talented or the other tournaments are too lazy. Either way I hope G-1 can offer something similar next season.

I think it's fine really, if people buy it because of the courier, it's more money for the tournaments which in turn means bigger prizepools and better production, besides a few really small and pointless tournaments, i try to buy most tournaments since i'm also interested in having access to replays. Also the first courier from the defense II was mostly due to it being the first ingame tournament ticket, i don't think it was due to it being the defense, not that any of us can confirm if that's true or not, this one(the sheep) was a courier made by joindota themself, i am sure other tournaments could do the same.

Either way I hope G-1 can offer something similar next season. They are probally the company that is on contact the most with Valve. They may have suggested the idea to Valve, maybe they were just the first to actually do it. Either way, I don't see what's there to not be happy about, both of them are good things. I doubt Valve wouldn't listen to other tournaments, if that was the case. The other tournaments are probally not lazy, but they do have other things on their mind. SL and DH have plenty of other games to worry about, for example, they are bigger than their Dota 2 tournament. Chinese tournaments are just probally both less used to systems like these and not as close to Valve. Anyway, I just don't see any issue with this, they seem all good ideas and good news to me.

I bet this team would do well with a 4 protect 1 style where Korok, Bulba, mike and fluff run around killing shit while giving TC space. These plans were known for a while. They couldn't get better players from NA, on the other hand who knows how long this team will last. I keep hoping one team I predict will fall apart actually stays together for over a year.

Random Bane (duh), get Soul Ring + GG branch (they are called like that for a reason). Proceed to take a big steamy thing on the enemy mid by trading hits and leeching everything lost back. Transition into ganks, ganks and more ganks. Get some of these: Blink, Necrobook (favourite), Dagon + Eth Blade, etc. etc. Use your ultimate on the loudest complainer on the other team for more delicious QQ. Get Necrobook against Shadowblade users or invis heroes and laugh at the wasted skill/item slot.

No clue why you'd use random gold to start Soul Ring rather than Bottle+Branches or Bottle+Flying Courier Recipe and just Bottle-Crow. Bottle-Crowing is significantly more effective regen than Soul Ring (especially mid, where the distance to lane is much shorter), and you want the Bottle for runes anyway. Soul Ring is better for sidelanes where you don't have reliable rune access and the courier distance is longer, but for mid, I'd much rather start Bottle.

Translation is: FUZZY TAXIDERMY = Fluffnstuff POKEMON = Bulba AQUATIC REPTILE = Korok 9MICROPHONE = ixmike ATOMIC NUMBER 43 = Tc GROUP FLUID = Teamliquid or bukkake Most of that lineup has been together for over a year now, though (Fluff, Mike, TC). There's not much more stable than that in the Dota scene.

Yea a decent mid going bottle rush will easily beat a soul ring start

Sometimes it is just better to eliminate the randomness (awkward moment when you want to punch the wall because you were mopping up the other mid, but he lucks out on a rune and everything gets turned around while you wait for the crow to go to base and back).
