As in they are completely the same game, just different graphics? 99% of the stuff is applicable. Awesome, so the mechanical and spell/item interaction quirks are very minor (1%). Sounds fucking awesome to me, cause I loved DotA1. Just dled DotA2, gonna look forward to trying all the heroes I had mastered. I heard some talk of some different delay/timing for last hitting, is this true? Will I have to learn the timing over? A little. For example, Lina, CM, Zeus are now easier to last hit with. Still bad animations, but better than their Dota 1 counterparts. The animations have the same cast point, it's just that the animations actually match when the projectile leaves the hero's hand.
Still the same "difficulty" in the long run, but less confusing when you're learning the game.

It could be a placebo effect then. They definitely feel a thousand times easier to last hit with to me.

Recently I have been having a problem where I cannot see group invites/notifications sent to me when I am not in the game client, making me miss out on a lot of group games with some buddies. Does anyone know if that's something that I turned off by accident and can turn back on or is this some kind of bug? My allow party invites option is on ALL.

Last hitting in LoL is a joke... Auto attacks at level 1 take away like 1/4 of a creeps hp. :\

Anyone attributing ES being used to things other than the engine differences aren't taking note of how he was more or less first pick/ban phase material throughout 6.72-6.74 in DotA 1. Yes he has his drawbacks, but none of those kept the hero from being one of the most valuable supports in the game, and he didn't get directly nerfed. It's the engine differences that affect how certain Fissure blocks work that make him less strong than in DotA 1. The potential for ES as a defensive roamer isn't matched by any other hero. At level 1 a fissure block can translate into one of the longest disables in the game and also one of the best methods of preventing or punishing dives. ES was very mildly nerfed in 6.72 (5 lower damage on the initial ult damage) and it didn't affect the rates of his being picked. He was buffed in an odd way since then (enchant totem CD reduction) but nothing accounts for the drop in usage besides engine differences.
The angle detection Valve has is pretty messed up (or wc3 was messed up, take your pick). All the heroes with angle based spells so far have whacky interactions - shackleshot, psi blades being the most well known differing interactions with some absurd shackles and psi blade being ridiculous.
Bristleback and Medusa are going to make the problem a lot more apparent.
edit : Steam appears to have just dropped out on their servers for 4-5 minutes, it's back up for me now.
Also, Razor's animation still drives me up the wall. The input delay people are referring to will feel make dota 2 feel faster to a dota 1 player and was removed in like April or some long long time ago (the built in b.net delay was way higher)

By the way if anyone still needs a key or has a friend in need of key, hit me up, I've run out of semi-active friends to give one :D rest have been offline for about 3 weeks or more so I think those would be a waste.
