The only issue I think was the super short CD. If you watched TI2 you'd really understand the hate of Naga. "Oh look big team fight, Naga ports in casts song team runs out safely from getting smoke ganked, back to farming" <queue crowd booing because of defensive naga song> Just having the ult used defensively to ruin teamfights is enough to hate her. Only good thing that came out of Naga that weekend was "The Play" Not really much set up... was just hey look 5 heroes, song and either run because you used it defensively or hey look easy set up for team wiping the opposition. The casters seemed to really get annoyed with her aswell spending time hyping up this massive team fight that was going ot happen or important game turning smoke gank then having it fall flat because of 1 ability that kills the mood that was set up.
I did watch TI2.... Those situations only really happen because Naga is able to cast Song almost for free. Imagine Tide ulti was as available as song, same situations would happen I feel, or similar at least. There is setup hence why it didn't always work, I think you can only really know the requirements when you actually try it for yourself in a scrim. It isn't the hardest thing in the world but it isn't nothing.
Anyway Yango makes a good point as always. The stalling factor is rather big but I still feel if they just adjusted the timers on the ulti it could be really cool. Blowing it for being out of position could turn into something real punishing. The whole crowd booing I think was partly due to commentators. If you fester a negative attitude it will spread. I just think it's sad, she looks cool and has cool other abilities. Just wish instead of nerfing her carry potential to the ground they just adjusted her ultimate

I think the biggest problem with naga ult is the factor that EVERYTHING stops completely.
I think it would be cooler if it was tweaked to create a 2 way interaction of some kind, perhaps something like both teams being able to move, but both teams are slowed (and still no damage/attack) and only naga can move at full speed.

I dunno about you guys but naga ulti requires alot of chemistry on the the high level team work from the top team to pull it off AND then it is a double edge at times. Not sure why people 'boo' when naga ulti is on, for me it is a very exciting moment to see what will happen next - total team wipe from the naga team or the other around?! Especially when you see a Rubick on the other team...
Tide's Ravage is more or less the same but i dont see people 'boo'.

Tide's Ravage is more or less the same but i dont see people 'boo'. The only things that can really be compared to song are chronosphere and tornado (which can disjoint spells on the way), and I guess Eul's. The latter two can cause your allies spells/autoattacks to miss. I think everyone has experienced a 6 man chronosphere (All 5 of your team, one person from the other team).
Basically a ravage can't ever actively hurt your team outside of the fact that you don't have it available.

can someone summarize for me why ethereal is so good on morphling and how it is used ?

I think that could be fixed with may a harsher punishment for wasting the ulti. Much like using a black hole on nothing or ravage on nothing. It's often costly if the enemy team knows about it.

It got some quite big nerfs with the mana cost increase and morph nerfs so I'm not sure exactly if it's that amazing on him. How it used to be used was because his adaptive strike does damage based on AGI and so does EBLADE so you would single out low hp target and instantly kill them.

theres that wonderful dota community shining through ...I actually read it many times
Active: Ether Blast - Converts you and your target into ethereal form. Target unit is slowed and cannot attack or be attacked, and takes 2.0x of your primary attribute + 75 as damage
what I didnt really understand is the part where they cant be attacked so that confused me .... so you adaptive strike first and then ethereal

He can convert all of his strength to his main attribute (thus the 'morphling'), and ethereal damage is based on the numerical number of the main attribute. Once a target is etherealed they take extra damage from magic and he has two nukes - one of which is based on his agility, adaptive strike. Ethereal blade adds 40 extra agility as an item naturally too.
Combining manta and ethereal lets morph debuff the ethereal state from himself and autoattack.
edit : The order you do it is ethereal - adaptive strike - wave (if a bit more is added), then manta to remove the ethereal state.
|
dude, morph can stack the shit out of his primary attribute, and it increases the damage of his two nukes because in ethereal form units take 40%(i think) extra magic damage.
It was basically made solely for morphling until the recent patch.

Ethereal, THEN Adaptive Strike so the Adaptive Strike does extra damage. Waveform while you're at it too.

hmm okay I didnt understand that cannot be attacked only meant right clicks not spells
sorry

No need to apologize, live and learn. Some people can be rude for no apparent reason but ask away. There is also a thread you can use in the future as well called, Simple Questions, Simple Answers--and there is one specific to DotA 2. It is under the DotA 2 Strategy section.

stack agi, eblade, adaptive strike and he's dead

Did Diretide affect normal mmr?-.-.

It is possible that maybe earlier Diretide games (before Diretide got significantly patched and before the record cycles began) DID affect MMR, and then was patched to no longer do so.

Why is Undying banned so often? Was watching Puppey a fair amount at work today and saw him banned there; now watching Koreya and he's banned again. I didn't know he was such a force in the meta?
