The 2011 Dreamhack Stockholm Invitational gets underway in Sweden today and TLAF-Liquid`Jinro, TLAF-Liquid`TLO and TLAF-Liquid`HuK are there representing us there. The Liquidians arrived in the city over the weekend, with Jinro and HuK flying in from Korea with Liquid-partner team member oGsMC. This is the moment of their arrival, courtesy of the fine folks at Rakaka.

Run, TLO, run!

Terranical.

Being a son of the soil, Jinro's arrival in particular was much anticipated, and apart from being ambushed by TLO, he was greeted by fans and of course his mom and dad. Rakaka has full coverage of the event.

Proud parents, and rightly so!

Though always one to downplay himself, Jinro's arrival in Sweden has caused somewhat of a stir. With several newspaper articles written already and one even translated here on TL (thanks, TheSilverfox!), The Gorilla Terran was also on P3 Radio today as well, and we hope some of you Swedes caught it.

Finally, and here's the awesome news (not that the news so far wasn't awesome, this is just awesomer) Jinro is set to appear on TV4 Sweden on Wednesday the 13th at 9.15am. While we're all used to seeing SC2 progamers on the Internets, seeing them on national television is something else, huh? If you're in Sweden or otherwise have access to Swedish television (it turns out that TV4 may stream online), this is an event you simply do not want to miss. Not only will our home grown Terran destroyer be interviewed but he will also play SC2 on air! Woot!

Meanwhile, TLO sat down and had a quick chat with us about an announcement he is making along with Morrow, Sjow, Bischu and Maven later today at Dreamhack. This piece of news finally puts to rest the rumours that have been circulating for weeks now. Yes, TLO will be moving into a joint team house in Europe. Yes, it's going to be awesome and yes, we'll be providing coverage all the way. Enjoy!

Make no mistake, TLO loves Stockholm. (Picture by Dreamhack)

Hi, TLO! You join us just two days before Dreamhack from Stockholm. What's going on in Sweden?

Hey, just chilling at Inferno Online and practicing some with Chris, MC is here too and a crowd of fans behind us. ^^

Inferno Online?

Inferno Online is a REALLY awesome PC-Bang in Stockholm. It's like 400 PCs, super clean and you always meet a lot of sc2 fans here. Plus it's in the center of Stockholm, perfect location really. ^^

You've been talking about Stockholm quite a bit lately, and we hear you've got some news for us along those lines. Do tell!

Haha, I kinda fell in love with the city I guess. It's such a good place for a gamer to be. SO MANY things happening. And SC2 is really big here, people recognize me on the street every day. There are a lot of talented progamers based in Stockholm and I like the whole vibe of the city and know a lot of cool people here. Lately I have really been missing the Korean practice experience with having other pros around 24/7, so I decided to ask Sjow, Morrow, Bischu and Maven if they are interested in moving together to create a joint venture pro-gamer house in this city. So yeah, we're going to do that!

Wow! That's certainly big news. There were rumblings of this around for a while now, but now it's finally official! When will you guys move in?

We can start moving in on the 15th, so we will set up the place in the next few days/weeks. Not everyone will be living there right away and it's gonna take some time and effort to set everything up but when it's ready it's gonna be great. In future I hope that other progamers will come and visit, so we will definitely have two extra pcs so we can have guests over too.

Will all of you be around more in Swedish/European live events from now on?

Well I will obviously be attending all the big Swedish events, especially Dreamhack. But I will be going to America a lot so I got to see how much time I will have to travel in Europe. I dont want only to travel and not get the chance to practice, that would make having a practice house kinda useless.

What do you think makes Sweden a leading E-Sports destination in the world and arguably one of the most E-Sports conscious countries outside of Korea?

Probably the dark long COLD winter. ;D

How do you see the SC2 scene developing over there? Regular events? Leagues?

Well first of all Dreamhack is huge. Then there are occasionally SC2 tours in Stockholm and we have Inferno Online which wants to get more and more involved with the scene and is willing to invest. The mainstream media is starting to take interest in sc2 over here as well and there are plenty of people who are open to putting money in the scene. The fan base is big and there money is here so I think there will be a lot of good things happening here. The money is certainly here.

Do Swedish SC2 names get their share of attention in Stockholm? Jinro is coming home after a while and with some big wins under his belt to boot - what sort of reception did he get?

There was a greeting party at the Airport awaiting him, lots of people showed up and he finally got to see his parents again which was heart warming. I think he is gonna do some interviews with the Swedish media as well. So yeah, progamers are being treated well here and everyone is happy to have Jinro back even if its just for a few days.

If you learnt one thing from The Gorilla Terran during your time with him Korea, what would it be? In fact, tell us one SC2 related thing and one IRL thing.

He is stubborn and relentless, he will practice a build until perfection. Which is good in most cases but can also make him invest a lot of time in dead ends. Hmm real life? He can be a little clumsy from time to time, he lost wallet once in Korea and stuff like that happens to him quite often ;D

As a Terran again now, what do you like most about his play, both past and present?

I am always baffled by his marine spread, I don't know how he can do it that fast. I wanna learn that ;D

Speaking of which, how has Terran been so far? You enjoyed some success at MLG, but what are your goals for the next few months? Which parts of your play are your focusing on and what are you enjoying the most?

I love it, so much fun. I wanna see if I can create some new styles with Terran again and refine my mechanics. I think there is still a lot of undiscovered territory for Terrans, especially nukes. I wanna try to strongly implement them in standard game situations and make it a solid play.

All right then, good luck with that, Dario. Looking forward to seeing you on stream at Dreamhack and then talking to you again from your new home. Any final words for the fans?

Keep cheering for me, guys! I will see a lot of you in Stockholm I guess hanging out at Inferno Online and stuff. But much love to all the non-Swedes too you, are all awesome. I hope living in a practice house again will help me return to my old strength.

TLO fighting!

That's about all for now, but do get ready for DH, because it's going to awesome. Here's some HuK goodness to tide you over till the games start.

Wow! So the progamer house in Sweden is finally being revealed. With all this recent coverage of Jinro coming back for Dreamhack, it seems like it's a great place to start a progaming house. I hope they have a lot of success there!
Even during difficult times, when I sat down to play the game, there were times where it felt like god has descended down and played [for me].

Only if you could get NaNiwa into that team house too, that would be epic practice.

Hah, seems like that rumor of a European team house has been around for AGES. Glad to see that it's finally happening!

I'm also glad, even though I switched from Terran to Protoss awhile back, that TLO is focusing on Terran again. It just seems to fit him so well! I'm ridiculously excited for those nukes! :D Such an awesome guy and a really fun player to watch. He just delivers on all fronts. How can you NOT like TLO!?

Seeing all of the fanfare and interviews that happen whenever a pro-gamer arrives home is such an awesome thing. SC2 just keeps on growing! I really hope someone puts up the Jinro on TV thing on YouTube. If some charitable TLer would translate it it would make my day!

That first picture of Huk, TLO, Jinro, and MC looks quite suspicious.

Huk doesn't look like he is at Hobbit height. I call photo-editing shenanigans.

Anyways, awesome write-up. I'm quite stoked for the tournament. The tons of big names and the very e-sports receptive Swedish people should make this tournament awesome.

Also, jinro on TV4?! :O That is awesome.
TV4 is a free channel so everyone with a TV in Sweden will be able to watch that. The show he will be on is the biggest morning show in sweden, and has 5 millions viewers each week.
They also stream the show live online, so none swedes can tune in if they want. Wont be able to understand much tho =P

Turkish Airlines is pretty good.
I flew with them many times. Price and foods are very good and it is safe like the other major airlines.
Although the domestic flights are not good as international flights.

If I would have known that HuK is going to fly through Istanbul, I would give him a hello.

TL/oGs hwaiting!

I hope setting up the house goes well. Out of all cities in the EU, Stockholm is one of the better connection and infrastructure wise thus a great choice for a gaming house!

Pretty big news for e-sports and the EU scene in particular. Certainly, both e-sports and players will benefit from setting up team houses just because it's easier to practice and improve.

Also, Dreamhack is gonna be awesome!

Go TL!

I am just loving the movement we are seeing in the EU/NA scene atm, first the team fanatic/root house and now followed up by EU team house in Stockholm no less.

I have to agree with TLO about Jinro's marine splits as well, honestly think he is the best in the world at it.

Does anyone know which particular show Jinro was on on P3? You can always listen to them afterwards on their website.

Maybe you could tell us Jinro, if you happen to go through this thread?

The european team house is going to be awesome! They only lack a real top notch protoss (nothing against Bischu, but I don't think he's quite up there).

So is TLO going to quit the german EPS next season? After all a permanent residence in Germany is required to participate..

Yeah Bischu is a weird choice, maybe they don't get along with Naniwa
It's a bit weird since they have two Dignitas players already. Also, what's Maven's involvement in it all?

I don't see how Bischu is a strange choice since he is one of the top protoss in sweden. If there is anyone suprising it's Maven, but I guess he isn't there because of his skill level in sc2.

I am well aware that Bischu probably is the second best protoss in Sweden, which makes him a good choice indeed. However I still don't think he is on the same level as the other three players and that an even better toss could improve the effectivity of in-house practice largely

It's not like they won't practise with other people or their teammates just because they are living together. I just find it odd that you singled out Bischu. There are a lot of other benefits than simple practise with a team house.

Bisu is easily good enough to be a serious practice partner (you don`t always need a MC to practice your vs P matchups) and has probably better manners than Nani. I think the 4 players will benefit greatly from it as it is simply way easier to discuss strats and practice like really focussed for specific matchups. Sad thing is though that the German community now uses this again to flame TLO alot.

Found the interview

http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=1646&artikel=4452243

Seems like it took some time for them to load it up because i didn't find it this morning when searching for starcraft, but i found it now ^^

For all the non-swedes:

"Yea, it really is like being a athlete. Its also a physical sport, you have to train your hands and so on to be incredibly fast. You dont need to lift 500 kg, but you need to go to the gym since you need oxygen infusion (?) to your brain to be able to concentrate during a long period."

What about the competition, what do you think about it?

"Its very hard to tell, all of the 8 players are really good. I could very well loose both in the firstround and in the last so i don't even dare to do any predictions."

+ Show Spoiler +

I am well aware that Bischu probably is the second best protoss in Sweden, which makes him a good choice indeed. However I still don't think he is on the same level as the other three players and that an even better toss could improve the effectivity of in-house practice largely

It's not like they won't practise with other people or their teammates just because they are living together. I just find it odd that you singled out Bischu. There are a lot of other benefits than simple practise with a team house.

I would actually say MYM-Sase is the second best toss in sweden, but seeing that Bischu also plays for Dignitas, its quite naturall for him to live there. Getting Naniwa in there as well would be sick though.

Yeah well he said he wanted in, but that TLO said that he had too bad of a reputation, so he couldn't.. what amazes me is that they let the Maven guy in.. He can't even spell to starcraft, let alone starcraft 2.
He did some kind of analysis in between the games and it was 15 dimensions of bad.

First of all, TLO I am a big big fan. With that said, are we talking the same Maven that stood up and walked away when casting Assembly? Because that guy is pardon my language a fking idiot when it comes to being professional.

Anyway, hope it works out for you! Good to see you here in Sweden, even if its the wrong city damnit! <3

Rylaji, why I stood up was because I had a guy who had wanted to cast a game for the whole day and I had 1hr of sleep the day before since I with my own money flew out to finland to cast the event for you guys to see, I was tired at the end and since he hadnt casted anything at the whole event and adding that to me being tired as hell from casting for 16hrs straight I said okey.

Im not saying I the perfect commentator but im trying to do what I can to help esports grow and my purpose in this house is mainly going to be about organising some streaming sessions and maybe also some shows to give an insight to the house while I work on my starcraft knowledge

Rylaji, I agree with you, although I feel the idea of having a "non-player" in the house is really exciting to me. Maven will definatly help spreading the word of e-sport. What suprises me the most is the fact that Naniwa wasn't invited because of, according to himself, bad PR. Maven, whyever you did it, it looked really bad and this equation doesn't add up to me...

This is so amazing. It's lovely that Rakaka is there to help E-Sport get even bigger, especially in Sweden. Wow, really cool to see four of the best players in the world in one place.

And abouut Jinro, what a surprise to see him on Swedish television in TV4s so called "Nyhetsmorgon" (a swedish morning show) when I was about to leave for school. I had to watch the whole show which made me arrive some minutes late, but it was worth it I might add! :D
No Surprises.

You taking Naniwa's words too literal. Also, if there is some kind of "issue" between them, I can't see how that would be good for the team house in the long run. Would you move into an apartment with people you don't get along with?

Also I don't get people's reaction towards Maven (not you specifically). Name me one team house in Korea that ONLY have high level sc2 players living there. People may not like him, but why does it matter to you if he lives there?

I agree with that, though in the interview that didn't seem to be the case. At least Naniwa tried to make it look that he was clueless to why he hadn't been invited. Though if the actual reason is that TLO simply dislikes him, that's very understandable. Naniwa doesn't even strike me as a very likable guy. But it's weird that Naniwa used the expression "bad PR".

The only thing I know about Maven is from his storming out and his response in this thread seemed very honest and so on. I don't have any other opinion about him.
