with the major succes Dreamhack had with Starcraft 2 last winter, things already looked to be bigger this year. Well it seems it will be. Below are the announcement for Starcraft 2 in 2011
___________________
StarCraft 2 plans 2011 DreamHack announce eSports plans in StarCraft II during 2011 featuring SEK 800 000 prize purse and continuous support from same partners as last year: SteelSeries, Eizo and Sapphire AMD.
E-sport at DreamHack was followed by millions of people in 2010 and is expected to grow further in the coming years. A few weeks ago we announced DreamHack’s total Prize Purse for eSports during 2011 and together with our partners SAPPHIRE, AMD, SteelSeries and EIZO we proudly present the details of this year’s tournaments in StarCraft II.
Five tournaments and SEK 800 000 Prize Purse DreamHack SAPPHIRE AMD Championship starts in March with a online tournament and then continue with four physical events where the major festivals, DreamHack Summer 2011 and DreamHack Winter 2011 with the finals at DreamArena Extreme, will be the most prestigious and also have the largest share of the total prize purse of SEK 800 000.
A large part of the world’s elite are expected to come to Sweden to compete for the title of this year’s DreamHack Champion. The tournaments can be followed on site as well as online with several different types of live broadcasts.
DreamHack Sapphire AMD Championship - March: Kickoff Online Tournament, SEK 10 000 Prize Purse. - April / May: Swedish Tournament, SEK 100 000 Prize Purse. - June: DreamHack Summer 2011, SEK 200 000 Prize Purse. - September: European Tournament, SEK 100 000 Prize Purse. - November: DreamHack Winter 2011, SEK 400 000 Prize Purse.
All the winners in the first four tournaments will qualify for the finals at DreamHack Winter 2011. Open Qualifiers will be held online but also through International Qualifiers. More news, detailed information about the tournaments and the official tournament site will be announced shortly.

Oh My God. And when I thought 2011 couldn't get any bigger...
800000 sek = 90k euros according to some random online converter, this looks huge for europe, so many tournaments this year some sc2 pros are gonna finnish 2011 quite rich:D
Dont forget all the "small" eu lans with 5-7k prizepools in norway, italy denmark etc too:D
Great tournament, great prizepool. But first online tournament with on 1000$ prizepool, strange...still excited!!! Go EU!
great news, Dreamhack was awesome, but please make the award ceremony a bit more epic in line with the rest of the tournament :D
for those who are wondering: 800 000 SEK = 91 497 euro, 126 240 USD [edit]damnit got outposted -.- :p
siiiiiick prize pool! Wow. This is getting nuts.
Looking forward to tuning in to even more great SC2 tournaments in 2011
DHW, 60k USD???? WTF
I have to witness that
So sweet, I'll definitely try to go next winter.
This sounds so awesome. Just more proof that SC2 and e-sports in general has not yet peaked, especially with all these tournaments just exploding in size.
I, for one, am looking forward to games even more awesome than the ones played at the last Dreamhack. More MaNa vs Naama-esque games. More Korean invites. Heck, even more ActionJesuz would be cool.
Wow, so many huge tournaments in terms of price money coming up. Awesome.
Woho! I just hope the coverage is really good for those qualifiers and they have the power to set up a really good overall event.
E-sport at DreamHack was followed by millions of people in 2010 and is expected to grow further in the coming years.
Millions? For real? Can we see some metrics on this? Millions is a lot.

Seeing how both Rainbow and Cella was supposed to be at Assembly Winter(much less prizepool) and with oGsTOP and oGsInCa at last Dreamhack, i think we will see Koreans there

Very nice, can't wait to see all the players showing up for these.

Technically it's probably correct, the event was partially aired on national television(and online at SVT play) so all streams, vods, live audience and whatnot for all events and all games...it adds up.
Ok, that frackin' does it, I'm going to Dreamhack this summer.
so many tournaments to follow. Cool though now all regions have more or less a a big time consistent tournament they can play in.

Does DH summer use the arena for games? Same as winter did? Was a nice locale, might be worth going if they have a good caster and use it again.
Will get a hotel room this time though, no fun being there without a computer outside of game hours. ^^
Jesus there's a new $100k+ tournament popping up like every day........
ESPORTS
And im going this year! Will be awesome ;-)
wow great prizes, looks like western E-sports is really booming ! So happy ^^
holy swedish meatballs batman
Huge thanks to Dreamhack for supporting Swedish and global esport like this!
This is great news but if they do it bo1 style up the wazoo like last time then meh, maybe I'll watch the finals.

really a huge pricepool there! 800k swedish reasons for every team to make sure every single of their players can attend and therefore make it more than worthwhile to watch!
This is huge!! Dreamhack will be so freakin' epic this year.
And some people still are wondering why IdrA is leaving Korea...
East is the new West.
Oh my god. It is so amazing that all these things keep popping up. Honestly i had a feeling that SC2 is going to be huge but honestly, all this is more than i think anyone could hope for.

Sick! Might attend to DH this year :D

Altough the prizepool is the BIG eye catcher, i am more exited for the fact that they will have 5(!!!) Tournaments, with the 2 big ones(Summer and Winter) being the main events, like MLG national finals and IEM finals
so hyped for this, anyone i can sleep at in Sweden?
IEM, MLG & Dreamhack. If these events don't overlaps then we are looking at a good number of events for players to compete in.

IEM Spoilers + Show Spoiler + Maybe by the time Dreamhack is here we will finally see the play off matches of IEM
Brillant news for SC2, hopefully it was as entertaining as last year, and they have day9 and TLO casting <3

Lots of tournaments.. Interesting year indeed.

I have to go for november dreamhack, imagine how the SC2 scene will look in 9 months!? AWESOME! Much love to the sponsors.

I came from Denmark to DHW 2010, and I bought a guest pass, giving access to the sleeping area, which, as stated, is just a big hall you can sleep in. So bring sleeping bag and whatnot. But totally worth it.

Wait, will krona boosting cause inflation??

Are koreans invited? I see many koreans coming due to big prize pool which will not be fun for foreigners

Nah, they'll just put up a lot of bo1 eliminations and coin flips. Should limit the Koreans success.
(joking)

I'm going to definitely try out at least :/

Cool :- ) I'm soo going to dreamhack again, was a blast seeing all players live last winter. I never thought people like Day9 & Huk would come to cold Sweden ^^
Ohhh my god that's sick! Just when I thought the 2011 announcements peaked.
Soon, no-one will remain uninformed of Starcraft 2
omg i must order tickets!
Yesss but we still need more big tournies to keep coming and then professional leagues like proleague in Korea. But i'm optimistic . Now all they need to do is fix SC2 =_= lol.
I would probably consider going to DHW if Day9 is commentating again.
Will be buying tickets for the whole event this time, both times. Was there for the finals this winter and it was epic indeed.
This will for sure bring over some great gooks!
This is seriously why eSports is booming. And it feels awesome because I feel that it's all because of SC2.

Think Greykarn (one of the gaming admins) talked last year about how they dreamed about being able to get the arena filled with 7000 people watching SC2. I honestly think that DH could fill it. Would be soooo much exposure and PR for SC2 and DH I believe.
Will try to dig up the Greykarn interview...
