Recently, TL has seen a huge number of new registrations. As a result, we don't know every individual user as well as we did a year ago. While this is a bit saddening on a personal level, it's also a huge positive -- we now have a much larger pool of happy contributors to draw from. We try not to ask for help often, and you guys seem to recognize that and respond very well whenever we do. A few weeks ago we asked for guest passes to help out our TL Open events, and we received hundreds within just a few hours of the request going up.
As you know, TeamLiquid's staff currently has over 100 volunteers who do everything from coding to graphics to data entry. They are an extraordinary bunch. It's very difficult to expect and demand professionalism and consistency from volunteers who have never met each other face-to-face. But our staff has consistently demonstrated this, and they remind us every day when hundreds of events are added to the calendar, quality news articles are published, and every single professional game is added to our database.
We often are asked by many TL users how they can help contribute to TL We've always responded that TL doesn't accept donations and that right now the best thing you can do to help us out is to just be a good forum member. But if you want to do something more, we'd love to have you. We're happy to open a new section with job postings for open staff positions where we need help: TeamLiquid Jobs.
About TL Jobs
These job postings won't mean very much to the vast majority of you. That's fine -- don't feel guilty for not applying. As long as you get out of TL what you want and you're a kind, happy forum member, that's good enough for us. But for those of you who want to go the extra mile and help our community, this is where you can contribute.
The vast majority of these jobs are unpaid. However, that does not mean the jobs themselves are not rewarding. TL Staff do their jobs for many reasons. Some like building things, or writing, or drawing, or being creative. Some just like being part of a team, or helping out their fellow Starcraft fan. We understand that we're asking a lot from our staff when they have to give up their free time to do TL "work" but that's what this site was built on: the expectation that volunteers driven by passion can create something bigger and better than paid organizations. Maybe one day TL will be able to properly compensate the people that make this site great, but that's still far in the future. In the meantime, we'd be happy to write you a recommendation letter or pad your resume with ESPORTS credibility if you have to step down from your staff position.
Please consider these job postings seriously. We demand a level of professionalism and accountability from our staff members. You will not get a free pass for being a volunteer. You'll be expected to act and conduct yourself like a paid employee. Every job is important -- Chill might be one of our recognized casters, but it's the calendar and R&S guys that really make our site run smoothly. We're all a part of the same team here.
Of course, that does not mean we don't have fun. TeamLiquid's staff members are a diverse, unique group of people. We play games together, watch tournaments together, and happily party at live events. There's a lot of joking and camaraderie in the numerous staff forums. We've heard many stories about reds and blues and translators and writers becoming very good friends in real life from their experiences on our staff. It's a job, but it's also an opportunity to meet driven, like-minded people who share the love of something that for us has transcended video games.
We look forward to meeting you, and we hope you'll be joining us.
|
Hopefully you'll find some competent people
|
maaaaaaan really wanna do something but with school and all it would be too much. Good luck to future writers!
|
I would love to--but with a full time job and working towards my designation (and starcraft of course) I won't be able to do much. Good luck to those who are applying.

|
How bout translators? To help the TL sub team. Thanks to all who help.

Will be submitting an application for the TLPD-Starcraft 2 data Entry Position tomorrow. What all do I need to include in the PM?
|
Oh man, only if I was still in college. I'm not sure I would be able to devote 100% because I work. Is it doable?
|
Sent in an application, thanks for the opportunity! Good luck to all applicants

Is there like a formal application form?

how come there is no posting for the Korean FanSub team?

How much of a commitment is it? I'm already juggling school, debate team, frisbee, starcraft and friends - are we responsible for like an article per week or what? (Question aimed at the writing jobs)

In regards to the GSL Recap position, would it be acceptable to maybe make a post in the blog section to show an example of our own style/formatting? In the description it says to include a writing sample along with our application, I was thinking of including a link to a recap post I wrote instead of just attaching a word document.
Also a part two to the question: I just want to make sure I'm understanding the details section correctly. It says we would get to "read interviews with top foreigners in Korea hours before they are published". That means we would get supplied the interviews right? Not that we would actually be conducting them? Probably sounds like a silly question, but I just want to be sure.
|
Damn I really want that writer's icon...
|
I'm kind of interested in applying, but I have a question, how much time do you expect of each person to devote to each position?
In the case of the GSL Recaps, would that mostly be deadline based work?
|
Just wondering that how long will it take to get a response for the application..
Thanks.

I know there will be great candidates for these jobs and am looking forward to their contributions in the future! If I wasn't such a boring writer, I'd surely apply.
|
Nothing in my skillset :/ Theres so much with computer science these days, sometimes I think I should just bite the bullet and make it my other major
|
|
TL has really professional volunteers. Keep up the good work and high standards! No job for me. The BW writers are already too good

I wanna meet Mango. >:
Good luck to all applying, hopefully there's gonna be something open still after this current semester at college. I'd definitely have the time to put in during summer and beyond, probably.
I also want to hoard ESPORTS dollars.

PL/MSL/OSL needs a new writer---> the PL/MSL/OSL lead finds someone who posts reallly well and wrote a few article---->New writer goes on trial period---->enters the team-------> back to step 1
maybe it's gonna change with this new section but yeah pretty much if you want to join a team just write some good articles and post them in the BW forum and you'll probably get noticed at some point

Very very excited. Applying for the TLPD position! :D

I would have loved to apply to be an international team league writer, but alas, I haven't used excel since way back in high school. I'll just have to familiarize myself with it and try my luck the next time a position frees itself up.
Applied for the TLPD position. Hopefully there are a good number of open slots.

Don't have the time even though I would love to apply. Good luck to all who apply and congrats to those who eventually get picked :D

I applied for the TLPD position. I would apply for one of the writing positions but I believe my writing is subpar.... Screw it I'm going to applying for a writing position too.

I'll think about it, but my personal thought is that i don't have the time regularly at my disposal to do any of the aforementioned positions.

lololol, super brainfart thanks.

I've been interested in joining the art team of some variety for a while now. It is not on the listing or else I would simply be sending a PM/E-mail, but how might one go by joining the graphics team?
edit: Also photography but I don't really have the money to travel, but I can for local events :O
|
I hope the job listings are still available tomorrow, how long will you be taking applications?
|
A very smart addition to the site. I'm thinking about applying for the TLPD but seeing as there are already several applicants for it I might just spent that time trying to improve Liquipedia.
|
I'm thinking on TLPD and International event coverage. Problem is just that I can't really travel. I can go to finnish events like the upcoming Assembly but that's pretty much it. I'm already going there with my camera and planning on doing a small write-up about it with pictures in blogs.
I have a lot of motivation to do things like this but I don't know if I can live up to TL standards. Haven't really done any TLPD or coverage work except for fun.

TL is looking for an experienced HTML/CSS designer/coder. You will be responsible for turning designs created by our graphics team into clean and workable HTML with CSS. Applicants must have previous work that they are able to showcase. You will be working with existing code and also on new designs. Applicants must be willing to work on paid and unpaid projects. The position will be partially paid.
Hmm.... sounds like.... new site layout????
Or just news article layout type stuff :<

I'm already juggling school, debate team, frisbee, starcraft and friends - are we responsible for like an article per week or what? (Question aimed at the writing jobs) it depends on which position you're applying for. if you're looking at recaps or roundup, it used to take me roughly 3-4 hours a week (excluding time spent watching the games) to write, edit and format a post. the teams are expanding now though, so i imagine each writer will handle 5-7 games weekly, maybe slightly more/less, depending on the volume of games. what is especially important is being able to keep up with deadlines. each recap you see is usually the compilation of the work of a number of writers. being late with your section of the article will mean delays down the line for editing/formating/gfx and is massively annoying.

Interviews with foreigners like Jinro after the GSL are usually conducted by me, but we can collaborate on them if you are available then. It's just very time sensitive and has to be done at like 5am EST.

I am interested in applying for the International Team Leagues position, but I had a question about the writing sample requirement. Since this position seems to be more stat-based than the other two should our writing sample contain statistical analysis of Starcraft in it? I am a big numbers-analysis kind of guy, so I feel like it would be right up my alley.

Cheers to all the volunteers! u're all awesome i love youuu

I would apply for a position cept professionalism isn't one of my strong suites

Kinda frustrating to want to help out TL, and realizing I'm not qualified for any of these jobs Oh well, maybe next time.

what a great opportunity for forum member.

NiCE giving the chance to some forum members to get involved even more in the community !
Sad I just can't apply to those writter jobs since english isn't my main language !!
It's all right tho i'm happy for those who will get picked

GAH! I wish I had more time! Damn you for taking all my time up, college.
|
I am interest in any and all writing positions, however my resume is quite low and my knowledge of the E-Sports scene, tournaments, etc is quite low.
I'm quite interested in the GSL Recaps (but solely because it is the one sector I know a bit more than the others).
What does TL suggest?

I wonder how intense the html/css coding is? I'm on my third job as a web admin/coder but am yet to finish college so i'm not sure if id be qualified enough...

I'm the same. Currently at University studying Web Design and feel as if my HTML/CSS skills, despite being my strongest skills, wouldn't be up to standard. However, having been told otherwise countless times I shall attempt an application nonetheless.
Give it a try.

Yeah i don't feel like the site has anything too complex on it concerning html/css. Might also throw out an application

Awesome! I've always been interested in writing about something I actually enjoy.
Too much prose/poetry analysis in school.

Gonna take the plunge when I find the time in between midterms!
Quick question: I'm thinking of applying for the Team League coverage position, but if a big tournament occurs nearby where I live, would it be possible to assist in the SC2 International event coverage as well?

Just so everyone knows the TLPD position was taken down due to the incredible response it garnered. I will get back to everyone but due to the volume of PMs it will take some time to review them all. I will post here when I have filled the positions and all PMs have been replied to. Thanks to everyone who applied!

It may be a silly question, but are these jobs on-location or done from the comfort of your own Command Center?

I'm a bit curious about one thing mentioned. How "on time" is "on time" for something like the GSL recaps? If I'm not mistaken, to date it's been a little bit sporadic about how long it takes for those threads to appear. Is it fair to assume that within a few days of a round of X to end that those recaps should surface?
|

My assumption is that "on time" means there will be some deadline (X days after the game, or Y days after the end of the round) to have your write-ups submitted to someone who will be editing/compiling everything.

Submitted. gl hf everyone else!

For me I would assume on time would be within 24 hours of the game VOD's being posted because it still needs to be looked over and edited.
