so this bracket isn't the official?
If that were the brackets, the brackets would suck hard.

They're not, it says so on the page:
"zNOTE:BRACKETS ONLY INDICATES THE MATCHUPS!"
Also I don't believe anything official would be on another page than korean first.
Finally I think they'd know HayprO is Swedish and not American.

Holy lord, that's a lot of zerg...

Doesn't look like any really known players are facing each other in the ro64 so thats good I guess

Since google translate blows, I did a quick translation of the interview with Ret.. + Show Spoiler + Starcraft2.nl > How did the qualifiers go for you? Ret: It was pretty easy actually, at least easier than I expected. The Terran I faced in the finals did a decent timing push and I think if we had played on smaller maps, I could've run into problems, but luckily we played on Xel Naga and crossposition on Metalopolis, so I had enough time to prepare for the attack. Afterwards, it was pretty easy to outmacro him. I didn't know any of the players in my group.
Starcraft2.nl: Well, you qualified and you're going to ply the Protoss player Cyrano. What do you know about him? Ret: Nothing at all, I don't even know who he beat in the finals, all I know is that he plays P. The maps are Lost Temple, Jungle Basin & Metalopis, I'm not really happy about that but it's not the end of the world, I hope his ladder rating reflects his skill level because if so, I'm not really worried about that match.
Starcraft2.nl: How's your ZvP currently? In a previous interview you said that ZvZ was your weakest matchup. Is this your best matchup? Ret: My ZvP is strong enough for me to comfortably enter midgame with a decent amount of drones. I do have trouble scouting though, stalkers kill overlords so quickly that it's hard to gather some intel on what the P is doing and sometimes that leads to you making too many drones. When that happens, even lesser Protoss can be pretty dangerous. If I can enter midgame with a good amount of drones, there's no Protoss I can't beat. I do think ZvT is my best matchup though, since those games depend less on how the early game went. I'll probably play a bit more safe against Cyrano, I hope he isn't good enough to use that to his advantage and go for a lategame plan instead.
Starcraft2.nl: Which P players are you going to practice with? Ret: HuK, mainly, and some other Ps on the oGs team, and of course I'm going to ladder, since there's not much time between the Ro64 and the Ro32 so I need to keep my other matchups up to par.
Starcraft2.nl: Is the bracket out yet? Seems only the matches are known right now. [way to answer your own question, fool] Ret: Yea, I'm waiting for the bracket as well, I want to know what my odds are for Ro16 and Ro8. Ro8 would be fantastic because getting S-class status is extremely important. S-class means you're with the big boys anyway and it's gonna be hard to get degraded to A-class, unless you really don't belong there of course.
Starcraft2.nl: Your goal is to win the GSL, who would you like to meet in the finals? Ret: One of my teammates from Liquid, of course, that would be the best result. IdrA maybe, or any other foreigner or oGs member.
Starcraft2.nl: What do you think about the difference between Korean and non-Korean players? Do you think it'll change in, say, a year? Ret: I think there's more good players than in NA/EU, and I think the 10-20 best players are better than what NA/EU have to offer. Below that level, there isn't much of a difference between KR and NA/EU. Honestly, I think that difference will only become more pronounced in the future, unless more non-Koreans go to Korea to train, or maybe get team houses where they train 24/7 and I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon.
Starcraft2.nl: Thanks for the interview, anything you'd like to tell the Dutch SC2 community? Ret: Thanks to everyone who supports me and wants me to succeed, I'd like to keep playing with the Dutch players, but it's a lagfest at the moment. I will, however do my best to make people acknowledge Dutch SC2 players.

Pachi found the brackets and PMed them to me, they've been edited in. They are slightly different from the order the first round matches will be played in.
if a mod could change the thread title to "[GSL] S3 Brackets + ro64 Matchups" that would be awesome, thanks <3

Sen v Nestea Idra v MVP Jinro v Moon July v Zenio in the Round of 32 is pretty intense
|
It hurts to watch GSL as a protoss player. Have to think twice about getting the season ticket this time.
|
OMFG
Those brackets are insane for some LOL. - Idra vs MVP OMG this is going to be a hectic macro game with some battles! I expect a lot from this match. - Sen vs NesTea lololol. - Jinro vs Moon aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah a good one for Jinro tbh he has a good chance of getting to ro16 then !!! - JulyZerg vs Zenio !!! Awesome match tbh :x
|
Comeon guys, give the random player some love?
Also, I'm hoping for moon. He just seems like the kindest and most humble person to ever set foot on Earth.
|
So stoked for this season to start. I am pretty stoked to see as many foreign players as their are in there. GL to everyone, especially TSL members!

If idra beats mvp I must say that will add a ton to his credibility.
In GSL so far he has stumbled a bit vs the good players.

Bad for Idra, Haypro and Sen, their most likely opponents in the ro32 are MVP, Rainbow and Nestea respectively :/. Idra has a good shot though.
Jinro and Ret have a better chance to make it into the ro8, Jinro has to overcome most likely Boxer and Ret has to overcome probably HongUn/Kyrix, not as bad as the three mentioned above.
|
my bracket race predictions were close (though counted some races wrong). They just balance it by races.
|
Brackets look good for the foreigners. Definitely expect to see a few in the ro32.
|
Well, it's gonna be a long road for our heroes! My predictions for the later rounds are as follow:
Ret's road: ro32: Thebest ro16: JSL ro8: HopeTorture
Haypro's road: ro32: HopeTorture ro16: FruitDealer ro8: ret
Jinro's road: ro32: Moon ro16: SlayerS_BoxeR ro8: Idra/mvp
Idra's road: ro32: mvp ro16: Check ro8: SlayerS_BoxeR
Doesn't mean i believe they will make it so far, it's just what i think the coming rounds may look like IF they do
|
soo many zerg... but only one zvz... and only 1 tvt?.. I wonder if they try to avoid mirror match ups. statistically its very unlikely with 32 matchs and only 2 mirrors.
|
Its nice to see that the foreigners didn't get high profile opponents in the first round and won't be playing other foreigners until Ro8 if they make it so far.
