The thing with the possible Boxer vs Nada match is that they're conspicuously in brackets that look less difficult than others.Seriously if I was running the tournament and could set it up so that one of the bonjwas had a very good chance to make it to the semifinals, you can bet I'd arrange for it.

I think it is generally accepted that the brackets are made by GomTV in order to favor famous players. Even here on team liquid we have seen numerous calls for rigging the qualification brackets in favor of the fan favorites.
In my opinion that is kind of sad. I believe that e-sport can only be accepted as a real sport when there are fair and public draws like in other sports.

But this is only a minor problem in comparison to the danger of match fixing. The few hundred Dollars players get in the first stages of the tourney compared to the huge market value of a star like Boxxer makes match fixing look extremely tempting.

So what do you propose, seeds are completely random and half of the players we want to see are out in the Ro64? Everyone in the tourney is limited only by their own ability to take it all. How do you know random guy #43 facing Boxer isn't the next Boxer himself?

And if those players truly aren't worthy, then they shouldn't advance anyways and we see the matches we want to see as the tourney progresses. I see no issue here. Tournament 'seeding' revolves around the same concept: the strongest players play the weakest to minimize early upsets.

Wow that is a huge number.

Not too sure about that, putting Fruitdealer and TLO (one of the 2 western hopes) so close together and making NaDa and Boxer clash before the semi-finals does not seem like too much rigging.

if 770,000 is accurate, that is ridiculously insane...

Did another search, and it looks like all those numbers aren't concurrent but cumulative. Sorry about that. But even so, it is still ridiculously high.

As for Nada and Boxer meeting in the Ro8: If they had seeded them in different brackets it would be less likely that they would meet at all. They probably figured it was best to just make one huge weak bracket, stick the two of them in it, and have a pretty decent chance of a somewhat late boxer vs nada match instead of putting both of them in separate, harder brackets and potentially hindering the performance of both for a smaller chance of a marginally-higher-profile match.

Please tell me you weren't around for SC1. If you were and you made that joke.......... *sigh. Too soon bro. I'm still hurting. The feeling of the victims of match fixing matter for at least another 10 months.

Boxer is gonna save SC2 in Korea. Blizzard should give him a few million dollars instead of spending dozens of millions for painting planes and aggressive marketing.

Still, they're all unique viewers and the numbers are probably much more accurate than television ratings which only track one out of every couple of viewers and then use some algorithm to determine the actual viewership. Even then, if you just tune into part of the show you'll be counted as viewing it.

I think it's safe to say that the 770,000 tuned into Boxer's game.

Perhaps Boxer should start to ask Blizzard & Gom to acknowledge his authorities (IP right lol).

Blizzard/Gom should bow to the emperor.

On a side note: I would really love to hear what boxer thinks about the current KeSPA situation.

That number doesn't count restreamers either. I'm pretty sure they have favoured boxer and will favour any sc legend by giving them easier brackets. 770k are an obvious reason.

Now just look at happiness (boxer's opponent for today), a good player for sure, but for GSL standards, he was below average. It's not a coincidence i think...

I don't think it will go so far as to pay off people to lose. This is esports, spectators aren't stupid and something like that will get noticed immediatly. I also don't think Boxer himself would tolerate such a thing. He may have an easier bracket to get to the ro16 or even ro8, but aftert that there's not much more they can do, he will have to play and win vs top level players at that point.

Wow, that is a seriously insane number, almost higher than some professional sports. Hopefully Gom will have a provisions in place next time Boxer play again. Wonder whether Nada will have the same effect?
