Will this run SC2? or am I gonna have to upgrade my pc? You might be able to play but i'm not sure. You know 9Gb DDR3 isn't a lot also the i7-920 isn't great ... lol
yess.. u need a gtx 295 and intel i9

A mere 295? So outdated, you totally need 5870s in xfire to come close to running sc2! No, seriously!

Do you guys know when i7 price gonna drop?

Probably around i9 release (q 2 or 3 2010)

dont think the i7s will drop at all seeing as how the i9s are projected to run around $1k

LG XNote R510 15.5 inch Laptop
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU P7350 @ 2.00GHz RAM: 2.00GB Graphic card: NVIDIA Geforce 9300M GS
Hope it's alright. I'm hoping to play SC2 on medium graphics.

Apparently my graphics card is incompatible with my motherboard according to FoxConn. Damn them! Anyone know a decently priced mobo that will work for an HD 4770?
|
Considering the annoyances of taking cpu out and removing the mobo from the case and redoing all the wiring, wouldn't it be a better solution to simply invest in a different card that the mobo can support and return the 4770? The 4770 is an excellent card for price, we have the dx11 cards out now (notice the date of the spoiler) and a 5750 is a mere 30 bucks away.
The most economical solution would probably be to change the mobo, but should it support the 5750, then I'd much rather dish out $30.
|
The mobo was 50 dollars, and changing out the cpu and rewiring the case is second nature to me. My mobo apparently doesnt support new cards, thats the problem.
|
That's another story then I guess, personally I'd much rather avoid the hassles associated with rewiring and reseating heatsink and all, but if the card simply has compatibility issues with more recent GPU then yeah...unfortunately everything I've done with this socket is pretty much for office use and not gaming, so no idea on good replacements.
With 5750 and 70 out though, we really should reevaluate the price to performance and the idea of value in terms of graphics cards.

was wondering if anyone could help me choose which case and GPU to get...because my blog asking for recommendations got closed and was redirected to this thread
CPU: i5 750 2.66ghz Memory: 8GB DDR3 1333 Mobo: Asus P7P55D LGA 1156 PSU: 550W GPU: ??? undecided (am considering 9800GT or 9800GTX+, the 9800GTX+, maybe radeon HD 47XX/48XX/5XXX) Case: Antec 900 (probably wont use it to its full potential), antec sonota 3 (i dont really like it, but im getting a deal for $75), or antec 300 (no LED's =[, i could probably get this case + some LED fans.. anyone have links to non-apevia LED fans?)
|
HD 5770 + whatever case, i have a 300 personally pretty decent case.
or if you dont really care about dx11 you can pick up an HD 4870 for like $120
|
300, don't get LED fans, don't, they are neat for like half an hour, then you realize that you just have a glorified nightlight spinning annoyingly. I'd suggest the 5850 too, owning one myself. The ram is kind of freaky though, drop 4 gigs and dump the money toward a better graphics card. You are not going to get a whole lot out of another 4 gigs of ram unless you have professional reasons.
300 is a great case, if you don't plan on SLI/xfire, it is more than enough. I didn't check mobo compatibility, but since it is a 1156 I am guessing things are probably fine.

shit i meant the 5750 not 5850 :o er 5770 im tired
the 300 comes with 3 x 120mm and 1 x 140mm for $60 and the fan setup looks like it encourages a lot more air flow than the xclio also if youre going to spend $100 on a case get a lian li k60
oh it's a full tower not bad

Xclio cases are amazing because they're huge and have rediculous amounts of fans. Really they're awesome for overclocking and enthusiasts because you can put ANYTHING inside them and they're also good for first time builders because they have great build quality (except for the 1000) and are cheap and impressive looking.
|
Well, how much you want to blow on a case depends on what you want to do. If you are not going to overclock and run multiple graphics cards you are really just getting a passive vacuum for your room. The noise can be a huge concern for some too...well more often than not the main culprit lies other than case fans
300 works fine for most scenarios and turns out pretty quiet, though that's on a machine I am undervolting since I don't need insane performance out of that.
|
Seening SC2 won't be coming out for awhile, and i9 still a distance off, should I just buy an i7 now? Window 7 is also coming out, would've been a perfect timing if SC2 wasn't delayed
|
Assuming you want a full blown i7 rig, I suppose, nothing on the horizon that suggests a change in retail price.
For anyone looking that cares, Newegg has E6300 on sale at $74. Link.
