Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. - John Adams
In light of the recent posts on Reddit outing several popular streamers for viewbotting, I feel a thread on TL is worthy of being made for the discussion.
For those who are not up-to-date on the recent scandal; a poster named NickHotS on Reddit has posted evidence of over 35 streamers allegedly viewbotting by connecting 'fake' accounts to other streamers who exhibit questionable viewer numbers while streaming. The results are shocking, and the evidence is clear.
WinterStarcraft has publicly addressed the claims, affirming that he WAS in fact being viewbotted. His stance, however, is that he is a victim and has not been complacent in such activities.
For more information I recommend you check out the thread on Reddit, where you can find all of the evidence compiled.

I wonder what the impact, if any, this will have on the Starcraft scene or the gaming community in general?
Will this change the way the general public gauges 'success' in the online streaming community, or open up discussions on the prevention of such behaviors?
Is this something that can be stopped?
How important is it to people that viewer counts are accurate?
Should Twitch remove the viewership numbers on streams entirely to remove any incentive to use viewbotting vendors?

Stop with these threads on TL. There is already enough of this on Reddit, go speak your mind in one of the 10 threads on the subject there. Also there was another thread almost identical to this one closed a few hrs ago.

i thought winterstarcraft just had quiet viewers?

It's a little hysterical to me that people seem to care SO GODDAMN MUCH about Winter and what he's doing.

Honestly it should be discussed on teamliquid.net as his view bots unfairly put him on top of the featured streamers list (as he is now). Being a featured streamer on TL is where the majority of sc2 viewers come from. His view bots are stealing legitimate views away from quality streamers who don't cheat the system.

Many people do not go to Reddit for their information... If this was blind speculation, or baseless claims I would agree that this has no place on TL where the community is generally very positive.
The questions are real on what we do with this information? If it is real, does TL take action on featured streamers? If you look on the right, there are only two pieces of information given; the name of the streamer and the amount of viewers they have. The position of the streamer on the list is also dictated by the amount of viewers they have leading to questions of validity.

Bans need to be handed out more often for these posts on TL under Sc2 General. At least put it in a blog or something not in the SC2 GENERAL thread that has absolutely nothing to do with what a streamer is doing with his viewer count
