Law Enforcement's View on Gun Rights

The vast majority of law enforcement officers are opposed to gun control. They also believe that bans on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and so-called "assault weapons" will do absolutely nothing to stop criminals and will only have negative consequences. The vast majority of law enforcement officers also said that they would refuse to enforce proposed gun control laws AND that the best way to combat violent crime is to expand gun rights (especially concealed carry).

Interestingly, a few weeks ago Michael Bloomberg said that "the majority of police officers support my organization," (his organization is the "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" anti-Second Amendment lobby). Yet all of the data shows that the vast majority of police officers don't even come close to remotely lining up with Bloomberg and Feinstein's agenda.

I'm curious, what are your thoughts on this data?

Well that's eye opening >< Really quite shocked at how heavily opposed policemen are to gun control. I would definitely think there would be a tendency toward some strongly support but this is ridiculous lol.

More CCP's and even teachers being armed? The fuck 'murica?

It appears that police officers understand the importance of freedom. I have always had respect for law enforcement, this only strengthens my respect for them.

No offense to the officers, but American police officers have always used guns and likely don't understand what policing without having guns can be like. It's a bias that's no fault of their own, it's just how the American law system has always worked. I'd love to see a comparison between the opinions of American and Australian officers (a country with very strict gun laws).

I think Q29 makes it glaringly obvious that those people don't really know what they're talking about despite being law enforcement.

-A large percentage think it's because of pop culture despite the fact that research shows it's not the case.
-Only 1.6% think it's because of economic factors despite the fact that it's probably one of the bigger factors if not the biggest. Research shows that income equality correlates with crime. I'd postulate that it includes gun violence.
-"Decline in parenting and family values"? Crime has been decreasing... so a decline in parenting and family values leads to a decline in gun violence then?
