I thought many DDOS's were carried out by infecting many unsuspecting computers with malware and having them spam the target.
I'm not stupid, a marauder just shot my brain.

Well after a google search for "online shell booter" I found this website. http://xrshellbooter.com/ After registering, it appears to be a website where you purchase access to shell booters. Extremely massive ones (for the script kiddie who wants to take down a website like a hardcore haxx0r) seem to cost 50-100 dollars a month, whereas small ones (for the script kiddie who thinks ddosing stephano is LE EPIK TROLES) cost 15, 25, dollars a month.

Please, at least google it.

Edit: If I shouldn't have linked the website, a mod can please feel free to remove it.

Ok, now to prove Destiny's claim, buy one and try it out. You've got the IP of Inori.
I don't know. I'm not an authority on the subject but I can recognize when people aren't completely fair and I'm not talking about Inori.
Not hating.

Well, I'm not going to buy it because there's really nothing to accomplish from me doing that. If Inori wants to try it on his system then that's his prerogative, I'm just responding to his claim that these websites didn't exist.

He said a couple of times that he thinks that those sites are a scam. It's obviously possible to ddos but not for that price (is what he's claiming).

Well if that's his claim then it's his burden to back that up with evidence. Otherwise he's making an argument from ignorance.

Edit: Argument from ignorance in the John Locke terminology, not the "fucking ignorant noob gg no re" sense.

Or you could just try it yourself and make $35 if you think he's so obviously wrong. Nobody's done it yet.

I have to say 100Mbps is pretty exceptional speed though; I'm not sure any home ISP in the US offers that, aside from maybe Verizon. ~10Mbps is what the vast majority of gamers will have.

I mean, we also established that Inori's connection is a lot better than what any NA streamer is going to have available to them. He dismissed this saying that 100 mbps connections are common in Europe, but given that Destiny isn't a European streamer, nor is a significant portion of Destiny's target audience with that reddit post--that isn't a valid counterpoint.

A couple American ISPs offer it at exorbitant prices (if you're willing to pay $100+ a month for your internet).

To be perfectly honest I don't trust him to pay up if he's wrong. Even if he did, I would rather not give my credit card or paypal information to some shady haxxor website.

Well he made a bet and so far nobody accepted the challenge. I guess no one dares to make use of the services provided by those sites (I don't blame them). Inori has not been to unreasonable in these 2 threads and I'm sure if anyone does take the bet and at least create a disturbance in his matrix he'll post that here. Or would have because it seems all bets are of.

In the Netherlands its becoming quite common. They just keep upping the speed. My ISP: https://www.ziggo.nl/#producten/alles-in-1/

I dont understand why is this even argued. Every single rescpectable member of the esports and streaming community will tell you ddos is a problem. One of the issues comes from how skype leaks your ip to anyone. The guide helps with preventing just that. Thats the end of it. The only thing you could debate is how much do you have to pay for the botnet. If you say a lot you are simply wrong you can google the prices fairly easily, not to mention listen to the recording of the conversation destiny had with one of the ddos ing kids.

Ah damn it now I made 2 additional posts in a blog I wanted to be closed. Not posting on this topic anymore regardless if it's closed or not.

i think you are conceited and a little ignorant. with that said, let's clarify exactly what you are trying to get "proven wrong"

1. are you saying that home networks cannot be DDoS'd?
2. are you saying that you can't be DDoS'd?
3. are you trying to say that the average streamer can't be DDoS'd?
4. are you saying that it is not possible to find a service to DDoS you for a certain price? ($25? $50?)
5. are you saying that in order for someone to actually be correct, they have to take an action to prove you wrong, instead of just providing you with logical evidence?

just so that we are clear, since you seem to be arguing a lot of different things throughout the threads and reddit

Suggest asking Day9 or JP McDaniel, they've both been repeatedly DDoS'd until they masked their Skype IPs. Believe it or not people are quite willing to spend 10 dollars just to ruin a web show once.

the funniest part about this is that this "inori" kid says that basically EVERY PERSON WITH DDOS PROBLEMS is using DDoS as AN EXCUSE. LOLOLOL. im sorry inori, go ahead and report me, i dont care, but someone who is trying to act in an intelligent manner is failing quit hard.

1. basically no1 agrees with you
2. ddos is a very real threat.
3. people are crazy and will have so much free time on their hands to start randomly ddosing people.
one such example of number 3 is the fact that league and community established by 4chan for HAXBALL (YES THAT STUPID FLASH GAME WHERE YOU RUN AROUND AS A DOT KICKING A BALL) had people ddosing players. LOL. yeah. so please learn your information first and actually attempt to do some research before making unintelligent remarks how "ddosing is not real" and "is an excuse for people getting ddosed"

EDIT: my mistake. the other guy said the "excuse" stuff. however my point still stands. ddos is a real threat, dont act like you know everything about it if you haven't actually experienced it. destiny has upwards of 5,000 dollars in revenue lost due to ddos.

despite the unfortunately awful presentation of this post, I find myself agreeing. Inori clearly can't possibly actually have factual information on the subject or he just wouldn't be spewing this trash unless it was the best troll of all time (which would be great if he knew something like this would really rustle up Destiny). If you don't understand it, don't talk about it like you do. Pretty simple.

Just to be clear: Little, if anything Inori posted has anything to do with the actual issue, which is securing your IP address from insecure sources such as Skype.

This blog exists solely due to Inori's inability to comprehend root causes of Ddos issues with streamers, regardless of all the actual information out there. I find it ridiculous that someone could come this far down the rabbit hole and still be ignorant of their own misgivings.
