Sheriff's officials say two people have been shot at Taft High School. We are also told someone has been taken into custody.
Kern County Fire officials say one victim received only minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene, the other person was airlifted to Kern Medical Center with unknown injuries.
The reports started coming in at 9:00 a.m. Deputies are now on scene at the school. Earlier, they told 17 News they were doing a room-to-room search. They say the scene is still not secured.
17 News has been trying to reach school officials to find out what is going on with the other students and when and where parents can pick them up, but we haven't heard yet.
17's Kiyoshi Tomono is on scene gathering information.

Seems like from this account that they were targeting one person, not going for some mass school shooting. Hopefully the one severely injured survives.

Yeah i really wish the media would stop freaking out over this stuff. It does nothing to solve the issues of untreated mental health and insane numbers of guns on the streets of the US (not to mention the abject poverty in the face of corporate greed). My heart does go out to the families though, it's really not their fault...

But here's the thing. The media will keep freaking out over it because first and foremost it's profitable and second of all the masses are too gullible and for lack of a better word stupid to understand that the more attention they give the higher the risk for more similar events to occur gets. They are gullible enough to believe the factually inaccurate and logically ridiculous scapegoats that the media uses in the form of... you guessed it, other forms of media, such as games, movies and music. And should a few people rise and blame the media for it, they have the excuse of just doing their job. It's sad but it's a vicious cycle.
