I just collected some data, and as a rough estimate the thread appears to be expanding at about 5 posts per minute. Assuming this rate stays constant, the thread will have reached 100 pages within 6 hours and 40 minutes.

I think the mods are smart in not banning the OP and closing the thread because the OP clearly wants to be banned based on their name, what they posted, and especially their post count. Denying him the ban means he isn't getting something he wants, and therefore it is a form of punishment in this particular situation.
