Trump has done 1 thing of note, appoint a Supreme Judge. And that one shouldn't even have been his to appoint. How anyone, including his die hard fans, can give him a passing grade is beyond my comprehension.
Some here will say he also canned the TPP but I don't see how that is a plus. He could have renegotiated it into something better instead of walking away. Now the US will just miss out on the extra trade as other nations (China prob) swoops in to fill the gap.
@LL. Keeping the light on is a passing grade? He passed because he hasn't yet ended the world in nuclear fire? (despite threatening to do so...) To even begin to consider the possibility of a passing grade he would need to do better then if the position was left entirely vacant. And the lights would for sure be on if no one made any decisions at all. The government is functioning because thousands of government servants are simply doing the work they have always done.

It's nice that Europe's got it's own cliven bundy types though.

The TPP and TTIP, perhaps by accident, were an excellent pair of decisions to scrap. I give him a fair bit of credit for that because frankly that requires much more insistence on a given position than any within the standard establishment would agree to. But it's almost by blind luck because the same kind of logic was used to get rid of Paris.
He definitely is not an effective president, but he has so far kept the lights on. There are many ready to cry foul at every single deficiency but overall we're all still in a fairly decent position. If that comes apart then maybe I will reconsider. I see no reason to conclude that HE kept the lights on; rather than that the lights are designed to stay on no matter who goes in there, at laest for awhile. that the US is in a decent position is no thanks to trump; it's because it was already in a decent position, and the presidency has limits to how fast it can damage/ruin things.
and I stand by the conclusion that tpp/ttip is no accomplishment or credit at all. for the reasons I have elaborated on previously.

The TPP might have been not great, but I don’t think killing it did us any favors either. Trump isn’t going to be able to cut a new deal with those nations, especially now.

I can see how someone coudl give a passing grade given a huge heaping of bias and a complete lack of understanding of the topics and issues and known patterns of how people think and vote. they see the economy as good right now, and credit the president, regardless of whether he deserves it or not, and to a degree far excceeding his control over it at any rate. not that that makes a lot of sense, as man yof ht epeople who voted for him were people who weren't on the upside of the economy. of course from a reasonable point of view his grade is an F, or maybe a D-

It's true; replacing the TPP and solving the issues it intended to solve are now significantly harder. The US loses much of its ability to shore up its base of influence to counteract China. Unfortunately it was designed with something other than the interest of the common man in mind, so it had to collapse.
I think its death is for the best. The Asia pivot was quite poorly conceived in general.

Any of the ones making a similar argument. I don't think the racial problems we face today are all Republicans fault though in case that wasn't clear.

As the only European who posted in this thread on that topic today (i.e. for the past 4 pages) I can assure you that no European has made that argument. You can keep Cliven Bundy all to yourselves.

I posted, too! But I really don't feel like I'm anything like a Cliven Bundy type of guy either.
edit oh sorry, didn't see the qualifier.

Not on that topic though Drone Hence the qualifier in my prior post

Are we at the point where it is easier to name the charities that have not canceled?

I don't know how a man with so much insecurity can effectively make executive decisions. I do not feel, at this point, that President Trump is making decisions, and is leaving much of the decision-making to his staff. I feel as though there is a power struggle within Trump's staff to influence a relatively weak president. Sort of a modern-day Warren G. Harding or Andrew Johnson.

anyways, as far as keeping the lights on i think it's more a testament to the sheer size of the ship of state and how hard it is to shift course/ do real damage even with the republicans running around setting shit on fire.

He hasn't caused a full blown constitutional crises yet but that's not because of him. Sessions was smart enough to recuse himself and Rosenstein appointed a special prosecutor.

There are problems brewing and I don’t’ think the current congress is capable of running things without a functional executive branch. If a crisis hits, like an earth quake, it will be very bad.
