Who would have thaught letting anyone buy themselves a position in the administration was a bad idea? Spicer just impressed me! Even though it means being a hack, working as a spin-doctor does take brains and a certain skillset.

9/11 conspiracy theories seem to fit both sides pretty well. I think it's more of a government is evil people/new world order than a left or right thing
In europe it's more of a 'the american government (especially republicans) is evil' and that is a significantly more common position on the left side of the aisle.
I honestly think most conspiracy theories sole purpose is trolling the heck out of the majority for laughs and giggles. It's just fun to get a reaction out of someone and the more reactions the funnier it gets. I mean when I troll, I wanna hit as many targets as possible. Here an example of a perfect troll: "Seriously, female Trump supporters are too stupid to prepare a decent sandwich for their man, it's ridiculous!" Not a conspiracy theory, but it gets the job done.

Agreed. Alex Jones, for example, is a conservative nutjob who's big on 9/11 conspiracy theories.

I would be shocked if he accepted that role if it was offered. Maybe Romney would have to stipulate 33 rounds of golf and Mrs. Obama as Special Envoy on Nutrition representing both the Dept. of Education and Dept. of Health and Human Services. The more I think about it, it might even end up being more preferable to me than Romney/Biden, a sort of penance for relishing the spotlight, and a reminder to Romney for all the things he was voted in to NOT be.

Michael Moore and Democrats complained about Bush's vacations. Republicans complained about Obama on the golf course. Democrats/the Left are complaining about Trump's golf/vacation.
Can we just acknowledge that every president takes time off? Probably more than the average worker too, because the presidency is undoubtedly pretty close to a 24/7 job when you're not on vacation.
I've found that republicans believe in flat earth, while I haven't met one single democrat that believes in flat earth (maybe that rapper guy? who knows). While I do believe there is conspiracy theorist/crazies in both sides, I find way more far fetched ideas on the right than the left. Well, maybe its just the left tend to stay quiet about it? Who knows.

With the exception of the anti-GMO and anti-vaxxer movements (which have advocates from all sides afaik), anything anti-science (flat earth, climate change denial, Creationist/ Intelligent Design, anti-evolution, anti- big bang, anything-where-science-contradicts-Christianity, etc.) is 99% on the right/ conservatives/ Republicans/ religious nutjobs.
I'm half convinced that Scaramucci is only there to entertain himself. Maybe troll Trump a bit, get famous, be a part of some history. I can't take this guy seriously at all, and his motivations for being there seem pretty suspect.

That seems to be the reason anyone in Trump's administration is still there. Maybe even Trump himself.

Maybe that's where they originate, but I assure you there are a great many genuine, true believers. My brother works at a semi-rural pizza shop and comes back relaying the nuttiest conversations from seriously paranoid people- the sorts that give census workers a hard time because They are out to get them, way the heck out in the sticks, They care and They are watching.
But I think you can put a more mercenary motivation to any conspiracy theorist if they are at the same time selling survival equipment from their online stores. Sell fear; sell products.
I was at a party last night and a girl started telling me about how the government was creating new types of clouds to control us. I assume it was a chemtrail thing but I couldn't follow it really.
Suffice to say, living in Southern California you'll learn there are plenty of leftist conspiracy theories.

One wonders whether Trump wishes he could be the one doing media interviews all day, like during the campaign. Notice how Mooch is clearly saying what Trump told him to say at times (same with Spicey).

I would love Trump to do the media interviews. He would get destroyed and either stop doing them or explode in rage infront of the camera.

New "types" of clouds? Like cirrus and cumulus, or like "that one looks like a doggy and that one looks like a horsey and that one looks like the Communist Manifesto!"?

The reason right-wing extremism is more prevalent currently is probably due to a number of factors.
The failure of communism worldwide combined with the cultural after-effects of the Red Scare likely dealt a strong blow to left-wing extremism. Conversely, the fact that the US never had a real fascist movement probably resulted in the anti-facist/anti-nationalist sentiment in the US being somewhat suppressed relative to Europe. In addition to the fact that the costs of WW2 (caused by facism/nationalism) were much heavier in Europe than in the US, so the historical scars don't run as deep.
As for the conspiracy theories, it's probably due to the makeup of the the two parties in the current time period. The Left is made up primarily of minorities (who tend to be less interested in politics) and educated whites--education tends to lessen belief in/acceptance of conspiracy theories. The moderate establishment Right (who are also usually college educated) is much less interested in conspiracy theories.
Again conversely, the largest faction of the right is working class whites, who are both less educated and relatively politically active.
These are generalizations but probably explain the trend.
I'm confused, what about the CIA's involvement in the crack epidemic is a conspiracy?

Initially she said "did you know the government created 12 new clouds?" Then "Yeah, there's 12 new clouds out there the government decided to create." Then "Well you know, types of clouds. Yeah, I don't know, it's like they just need to control everything..."
So ya know, sounds like a chemtrails thing but for all I know somebody with a government grant developed some new cumulostratonimbus clouds or something.

I was thinking digital clouds, like a new media storage cloud that the government is using to control us. How I don't know.

That the CIA secretly set up the drug pipelines between South america and North america in order to destablize south american countries and to fund their black operations empire.

If you're being honest I'd roll this back to about 70% there are a lot of "alternative medicine" and anti government conspiracies that I even see in Minnesota from leftists that I can't believe is any less in the coasts. The greater majority is on the right yes but there is significant conspiracy theory support or just dumbness for both sides. I don't think the republicans are competent enough to keep secret half of the voter suppression schemes that they get accused of. Maybe half but not more then that.
