I'll also say that Conway's response to the issue being loaded with factual inaccuracies about the story is pretty sad. And again, you have to look at the narrative being pushed by CNN in reporting the story to begin: Classified documents presented last week to President Obama and President-elect Trump included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump, multiple US officials with direct knowledge of the briefings tell CNN. You need look no further than the reactions of some of the posters around here to see how the paragraph above is being taken. This is fake news designed to push an anti-Trump agenda. Nothing more. No, this is not "fake news". This is you trying to change the meaning of "fake news". CNN did not invent anything for its reporting or independently make claims with regards to the veracity of the contents of the memos. It reported on testimonies CNN received from "multiple US officials". The fact that you don't trust CNN and its sources does not mean this is "fake news" in any way. Yes! And Pizzagate is not fake news too!!!¨ Cmon guys, this was a 4chan troll that your "intelligence" agencies fell for.

You don't understand what you're talking about. CNN's sources for the story are US officials. The testimonies of those US officials are what they are reporting on. Unless CNN lied about having those sources, it's not an example of fake news, unlike the Pizzagate story.

With these things you're not really supposed to do that. You're supposed to be able to trust them. So I stand with my point that if you can't trust them that's an issue of the agencies.
To give another example: I sure as hell don't like Bush or the US decision to go into iraq. But if their information isn't cherry picked information while ignoring the majority of intelligence reports that stated that Iraq did in fact not have WMDs I wouldn't really blame the Bush administration for that either. Because again, you're supposed to be able to trust those things.

There's two things here and neither are fake news. One isn't even journalism, it's just WikiLeaks on a different platform. BuzzFeed threw an unsourced, unverified document up and said "have fun". Assange is probably livid that he missed out on these clicks.
CNN, for once, did some reasonable reporting, assuming they aren't just inventing the intelligence briefing and their 2 official sources. That is not fake news, despite people not liking what is being said. CNN's base seems covered. Either they reported on a briefing about problematic Intel regarding Trump, or they reported intelligence officials being partisan hacks and briefing government based on unverified claptrap. Either way, that's a story worth telling.

I have a hard time thinking Wikileaks doesn't extensively verify their documents, otherwise they would be the luckiest people on the planet for never publishing fake documents.

It's really quite amazing to see Trump crying about fake news and political witch hunt when his whole campaign has been one giant witch hunt with his supporters chanting "lock her up" every meeting and him threatening to jail his opponent, and when he is in the white house thanks to the biggest propaganda campaign in democratic history.
It sucks when your opponents make unfounded attacks on your probity, doesn't it Donald?
Lucky that The New York Times is not Breitbart and that the liberal media has the integrity to point out that's not reliable information. Conservative and their media have proven during the whole campaign they don't give a fuck.

I'll also say that Conway's response to the issue being loaded with factual inaccuracies about the story is pretty sad. I'm sure that CNN spoke to someone. The real question is whether this "someone" happens to be the same person (or a like-minded person) who fed WashPo the Vermont power grid story. See the problem? Underlining that sentence and claiming it's a narrative does not make any sense.

I liked Obama's speech. He did great things for the USA imo.

Trump going berserk on Twitter again. It seems ridiculously easy to get under his skin and make him act like a complete buffoon.
On Twitter, Trump called the reports "unfair" and said, "Russia has never tried to use leverage over me." Trump claimed that he has "no deals, no loans, no nothing" with Russia, an assertion that is difficult to verify because he has not released his tax returns, unlike every president since Jimmy Carter.
He argued that political opponents "try to belittle" his electoral victory. Trump asked, "Are we living in Nazi Germany?"
http://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/11/trump-melts-down-on-twitter-are-we-living-in-nazi-germany.html
Is this really the impression he wants everybody to have about the president? That he has the emotional control of an 8 year old? Or does he truly not realize that that is what people (fairly neutral outsiders) think when they see his twitter feed?
|
Ok, until today I more or less thought it was funny. Now those tweets, jesus... Tell me americans, what the fuck have you done? Is this really the new president of the most powerful country on earth?
And to trumpers here, what do you think of him trusting more russians than US agencies?

"Unverified but explosive" what a brilliant way to cover for proliferating absolute bullshit without taking credit for it. Pretty much the definition of fake news right there but some people will pretend that your buried qualifier makes it a sign of credibility.

Funnily enough, if we draw his allegory (that he is living in Nazi Germany) through to its logical conclusion, it would make him either Hitler (evil) or von Hindenburg (a chump). Does he really want to go there?

I think people are missing the fact that unnamed sources aren't trustworthy nor credible. You have to put the burden of trust on the publisher at that point and not the source. CNN and buzzfeed are not trustworthy and post a lot of fake news. It doesn't matter who they say the source is at any point if they can't actually show who or where the story comes from.
