Why does he even bothers with this. 4 years with tweets like this every other day? To him its one big show I guess,i doubt he will even make one single decision himself, just a front man for the hardcore conservatives. Huh? That's a tweet from 2014. While I agree with the general sentiment and Twitter should do the nation a favor and ban Trump from Twitter before he embarasses himself even more, dredging up 3 year old tweets doesn't really show how he is embarrassing himself right now on twitter.

Meanwhile Maduro is relying on the single crutch he has, which is increasing social programs, but there is no money to sustain them without oil revenues drastically increasing. And if you want to see a disfunctional governmental deadlock, Venezuela is an even better example than Obama's second term.

Either that, or he is really good at distracting people.
I don't really buy into the 7d-chess theories, but i think that there is something to the idea that he just tweets random crap to get people to respond to the random crap he tweets instead of more legitimate concern about policy. You don't even need to be particularly smart to do this, a monkey could realize that if he slings about enough shit, people don't notice that he has found a way to steal a bunch of food for himself.
And i am pretty sure that Trump has a least subconciously figured this out. As long as he keeps up the string of random crap tweets, noone takes a second look at what is going on. Just look at this thread. It used to be the US politics megathread, now it is the "Trump tweets stuff" megathread.
I have come to the conclusion that the best idea is to just ignore trumps newest daily shitpost. His supporters clearly don't care about it, and his opponents already hate him, and another shitpost is not going to change anything about that. As long as you keep reacting to his shit, he is going to come up with more shit. Then you can continue to be outraged, and he can do as he likes since noone actually cares about that.
Stop talking about his trolling, start talking about the stuff he actually does. Currently, those are his appointees for various positions. Soon, that is going to be his policies.
I know that the daily torrent of crap coming out of that twitter account is really silly, but it is obviously doing its job.

Fair points. Although the tweets that at least have something to do with policy, like the whole nuclear arms race proclamation, are of course fair game.
I would say that if the 7D chess theory is to hold up, Trump would have to do some shittweeting in very close proximity to the confirmation hearings.

That is not a very good test, Trump does shittweeting in very close proximity to everything.

The pattern of his twits suggests more so that he has an ego than that he is doing it to distract from policies. There was really nothing big to distract from within the past 2-3 days, but there absolutely was a few unkind words lodged in his direction.

News networks spending their time on air asking and answering "Who exactly is Jeff Sessions?" does not benefit Trump nationally.

I'm not sure why you don't get it; trump hasn't changed at all, he's been very consistent in his behavior.
also, that tweet from trump in that article seems to be from 2014, so it's quite old.

Sessions saying at his hearing that same sex marriage is settled law, but Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional. Yeah those two statements are not in direct contradiction or anything lol.

Why is anyone inclined to care about some Twitter spat from 3 years ago?

On January 11 2017 01:48 LegalLord wrote: Why is anyone inclined to care about some Twitter spat from 3 years ago? we haven't heard back from pmh yet. i'd assume it's the usual: recent article mentions something, person reads article and assumes the content and tweet is recent; does not notice the tweet is years old.
I've seen that happen several times this past year to various people on various topics.

Are you saying you think Trump is a different person today than he was 3 years ago?

this tweet adds nothing we didn't already know about trump, and has nothing ot do with policy. there's plenty of recent stupid tweets by trump, so this old one is irrelevant.

I'm not saying it is a topic worthy of in depth discussion. I am saying that it is stupid to let ourselves just accept this kind of blatant idiocy. It matters, but it isn't necessarily worth discussing. I think LegalLord and I are saying different things.

A random twit from three years ago devoid of real content is pretty much the definition of "shit that doesn't matter."

and it doesn't really matter; it's a 3 year old tweet, which has nothing insightful to say, and adds nothing ot our understanding of trump.

My point is that the age of the tweet is irrelevant because it is still composed by the same person. We can absolutely make judgments about the person Trump is by his decision to compose that tweet. Trump is 70. His tweets as a 67 year old dude probably reflect who he is today.
