Good to see the American people voted and elected Trump as president. His vows to end corruption, put limits on career-politicians and take measures against illegal immigration impressed me. It also helped that the opposing candidate is one of the most corrupt, inept career-politicians to ever grace the US.
I read a lot of conspiracy information the week before the election regarding spirit cooking, possible child trafficking, the FBI being compromised, and I am looking forward to seeing whether there's any real truth to this (it would not surprise me any more).
Trump is not just a candidate, he is a movement. Let's hope he can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

Hillary currently in the lead with popular vote. Remember all the fuss after bush vs gore? It's gonna be pretty bad this time too I think.

It astonishes me how people are vastly underestimating the truth of this and instead continue to call all Trump supporters racists, xenophobes, misogynists and so forth. People have to recognize that those who voted for Trump do have legitimate concerns that should be addressed, and especially look at the reasoning of people who didn't want to vote for Hillary.
Ignore the suggestion in your head (or fact, if you like) that Trump is completely batshit insane and is essentially wrong on all levels in terms of policy. Policy is almost irrelevant to at least some of those reasons, anyway. I say this as someone who hates the character of Trump with her whole being.

You need to get over it, she lost in a landslide.
What? She lost, but this is far away from a landslide.
I also couldnt understand those arguments against Bernie. The Republicans will go batshit crazy at the very mention of socialism? So what? They arent going to vote for Democrat either way. Red state wont go Blue and vice versa. Only thing that matters in presidentail election are swing states and moderate/indpendent voters.
Bernie supporter here (minority citizen too). I voted for Bernie. Did not vote for Hillary or Trump, but kinda glad Trump won. Fuck the establishment for thinking they can rig primaries for the much more unfavorable candidate and get away with it. Also fuck them for manipulating media to coronate Hillary as victor.
They would've had my vote if they played fair & square. You reap what you sow. A ton of other Bernie supporters were disillusioned and wanted to watch US burn for playing dirty.
Bernie did really well with white working class. Guess which group of ppl just voted Trump into the white house?

The only actual potential military threat the Russians have are the nuclear weapons. If US-Russia relationships are repaired, perhaps they can both get back to slowly dismantling them. Although somehow I don't see Trump pushing for this.
Dismantling nuclear weapon will never happen as long as Putin is here, sadly.
Maybe you actually want to read up on things before you throw statements like this around, since it's completely wrong. And easy to read up on top (3 second google revealed disarmament of Typhoon class subs, which are the biggest nuclear subs in the world). Secondly:

Same goes for any other country, if you try to be smart. What else would be a potential threat.

It's not an electoral landslide. That being said, regardless of whether or not Clinton wins the popular vote, it doesn't matter.

Just making an observation dude. There was a lot of discussion about the EC after that election, you don't think there will be this time too? Of course nothing will come of it, but it's still a narrative that's gonna be played out for awhile to come.
Maybe I'm wrong - I hope so - but Trump has always struck me as someone who wanted to win purely for the sake of being a winner. Expediency has been the hallmark of his campaign. I have never had any sense that he actually grasps - or even cares about - the real short, medium and long-term challenges facing America and the world, much less has any kind of plan for addressing them. It's all about making the deal, telling people what they want to hear and getting the sale. Does he really think tearing up international treaties on climate change and ramping back up natural gas production is going to revitalise economies blighted by the downturn in fossil fuels? I honestly don't think he cares. What matters is that the people he was targeting think it would.
What makes this result so scary is that I have literally no idea - nobody does; this is so far as I can tell without precedent - what a person like that does when he's behind the wheel in the Oval Office. What does 'winning' look like from there?

They didn't just vote Trump they voted republican as well. Why do that? The way the Republican Party behaved during Obama's presidency is disgusting yet they punished the Democrats.
People are not necessarily racist, misogynist etc (but apparently don't care about a candidate making such remarks) but they surely are ignorant. And no not just in the States. En masse, people constantly vote against their own interests because of populist tactics of fear and nationalism meanwhile these people offer nothing to actually help solve any real problems they may suffer from. As an example in the Netherlands the biggest party after the financial crises has always been the one who'd support the system that caused it the most. Why? 2 reasons. 1. They are ignorant of this fact. 2. This party actively tries to be a more reasonable option for "Dutch Trump" by making harsh statements about immigration.

It is indeed a terrifying notion. You guys reconsidering leaving at all? Maybe the EU doesn't seem to bad now that there's this potential madman in office across the pond?
What are some policy/ program changes that we can expect over the next four years, since all three branches of government will be Republican-controlled and we won't have any checks and balances?
1. Obamacare will be repealed? 2. Abortion may be nationally outlawed? 3. The climate change conversation is over? 4. Gay marriage might be repealed? 5. ???
