I could see it that way, I guess. Though I fear the follow up.

Bill Maher is pretty much the only one who calls out the regressive left on their insane political correctness.
He's always been on the side of reason, free speech, environment and animal rights. He's also the only one who will talk about the weird privilege religion has not to be criticised. Honestly, I don't know how any liberal person could be so opposed to him.

Yeah, not into the whole talking down to other people and pontificating on religion. It would be fine if he talked to people about it. But the majority of his output is him talking at people and then dismissing their response because he doesn’t have to give a shit.

Of course he calls them out, he absolutely loathes it when his liberal audience doesn't know whether to laugh or not at a joke they deem on the edge of offensiveness. That's why he started putting conservatives in his crowd, because he fucking hates liberals despite being one. Conservatives can take a joke, liberals look around wondering if they need to be offended on someone elses behalf. However their great hypocrisy is that if the target is a Republican, he could say anything and not get a single "ooooh".
The future of progressiveness. Hope he doesn't leave a gender out. This is just beautiful. + Show Spoiler +

It's actually not a conspiracy driven view. If you watch the Young Turks for more than two minutes (and no matter what you think of them, I'm sure we'll agree they're an important vector of this world view), they will insist on a regular and consistent basis that it's not a conspiracy, that there is no smoke-filled room where evil rich people decide the destiny of the rest of us. The perception that you disagree with is that the general system of money in politics, as you have it, makes it so that what very rich people think is much more important than what random people think, and that this was done by design. Not because rich people are evil and want you ill, but because they have they have their own best interest at heart, obviously, and the system has been modified (or perverted) in a way that gives them the ability to use their wealth to their advantage much more than they should be able to in a democracy.
Where the "conspiracy" is, I suppose, is in the idea that it's not standard for a politician that is very successful in that system, got a lot of power and money thanks to that system, to also want to change it.

Bill Maher is kind of a mixed bag. He has some subjects on which he's very perceptive and very clever, and it has led him to think that he's a very perceptive and clever man. There are some other subjects on which he is not very perceptive and not very clever, and when he's talking about those subjects with the attitude he developed from thinking he's very perceptive and clever, it is really really aggravating.

That's how I read it. This was actually a sincerely happy quote from Bill Maher, which is rare given his usual sarcasm and cynicism. It was one of those "Faith in humanity is restored for just a second!" acknowledgements.

They don't want to hear this so don't expect a response. American debating is hilarious. If you have a bad point they make a lengthy and nicely written post with rebutals and such. Pretending to be all about the debate. And when you have a good point where they don't have a good response at hand they will simply ignore you. Its so childish but that's how it works on this forum lol.

Thats actually the description of Bill Maher i allways wanted to write but never managed to :D.
His interview at a swedish university was fun, the topics were good, his answers were good BUT the audience didn't clap/laugh do shit like he is used to from american audiences... You sometimes see him pause waiting for applause but nothing ever happens ^^.

It's a better sample than someone not in the demographic.
Also pretty laughable if we applied this logic to the earlier arguments yesterday about white guilt.

I was one of the people who actually didn't vote in 2012 because I was so uninterested in both Obama and Romney so speaking as a member of that demographic you just described, I can tell you that you are just wrong. As someone who has been able to vote through in 4 times as many elections, you are not one of the demographics that decides elections.
You're probably right but I will be voting in the most important state in the election.

Let's be honest here, there's dirt on both candidates you could spends hours talking about how they're terrible people. Some of it might be true, a lot of it is probably fabricated or exaggerated.
It's much more interesting to talk policies than mudsling the candidates, even if it is fun to mudsling. I know it's fun as hell to mudsling all over Clinton and you guys probably love mudslinging Trump.
When he shares things like this after Obama endorses her I can't help but laugh my ass off

Gawker Media, under pressure from a $140 million legal judgment in an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit by the former wrestler Hulk Hogan, is putting itself up for sale, according to a person briefed on the plan. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Friday after a judge overseeing the suit against the company entered the full judgment and denied Gawker’s request for a stay under terms the company could meet.
The company is beginning an auction, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the auction has not been announced. ZiffDavis, a digital media company, has submitted an opening bid of $90 million to $100 million, the person said.
The person said Gawker has filed for bankruptcy to protect jobs and ensure continued operations. The company’s decision to sell itself came just weeks after it was revealed that the Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel financially supported Mr.Hogan’s lawsuit. The company still plans to appeal the case.
Hogan, whose real name is Terry G. Bollea, sued Gawker Media in 2012 over the publication of a black-and-white sex tape that showed Mr. Bollea having sex with the wife of a friend of his at the time.
In March, after a two-week trial, a Florida jury awarded $115 million in damages to Mr. Bollea, a figure that exceeded the $100 million he had asked for. A jury later awarded $25 million more in punitive damages, bringing the total to $140 million.
In January, Gawker sold a minority stake in the company to the investment company Columbus Nova Technology Partners, partly in preparation for the lawsuit by Mr. Bollea.

Note: chapter 11 is restructuring, not liquidation. This is to fuck over Hulk and his suger daddy so they can't get money.

I'm pretty sure this is how a lot of conservatives feel about a lot of liberals this election when they say they support Trump.
I liked Bill Maher during the Bush-era because his material was actually pretty funny.
I agree his smugness stopped being funny a long time ago but I still respect his ability to firmly remain faithful to liberal values while at the same time recognizing faults within it that need to be improved. Most people just want to paint 'my side good other side bad' and he's willing to throw criticism on both.
