pure sabotage and self serving tactics from the rabid left Can you please cut your rhetorical crap? It's painful to read at times. what part of it is not true? the bernie group is valuing their own vision over the general success of the party by sabotaging the leading candidate in a way that would seriously depress enthusiasm. In fairness, there never has been much enthusiasm for Hillary, which is her biggest liability. she's been in government for too long. back in the day she was able to rally the troops well, but the new generation don't have a clue what she went through in the 90's. I think you have it backwards. People know exactly "what she went through in the 90s." It's not an accident that everyone thinks that she is a liar and political hack. It's not an accident because the GOP has been peddling lies about her for 25 years.

As someone who was probably going to vote for her before this cycle started I can assure you she's done more than enough on her own without Republican help.

maybe i've tried to talk sense into some of these dudes for too long so it's a sort of trigger for me to see this type of behavior in the mainstream.
natural resource nationalization is a pretty good starting point though. should work on that I genuinely believe that natural resource nationalization is one of the most important aspects of Norway's success as a country. If offshore oil drilling had become privatized in the 60's, there is absolutely no way we'd have the equitable society we have today.
It failed miserably here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrobras#Operation_Car_Wash
There's no reason you couldn't get from taxes what you did from profits. Ultimately, it's all about the people.

you dont really want to take over a mature resource company. the ideal scenario is to claim the right to untapped resource then collect the rent due to that deposit while leaving the mining to private operations.

That's not very nice. They're just making decisions based on a rather different set of information.
I do wonder what some of the eventual sitter-outers will say when asked "hey where were you when Hillary was elected?"

Soap, unless we taxed 100% of the profit, which would remove any private incentive, we could not get the same from taxation as we could get from profit? Am I missing something?
Obviously nationalization of natural resources coupled with a corrupt and incompetent government doesn't yield good results.. In Norway however, government is quite transparent and very competent. (Not necessarily all agencies.. But the oil and energy sector has been exemplary, and there is no way 'the people' as a whole would have benefited equally if our offshore platforms and hydro dams were private. (hydro has seen some privatization in the last decade, which hasn't yielded good results at all. ) There are also examples of the opposite - our telecommunications used to be a state-run monopoly, and there increased competitions was purely positive, and until 1991 we only had one state-owned broadcasting channel - opening that up for commercial actors was also a definite success..

I plan on voting for Hillary, but I don't consider her honest. Oneofthem is right. None of them are. Its par for the course. Ultimately I think she is the lesser evil, less likely to take us down the road of crisis.
I understand the desire by many to upset the current political evironment, but I don't think we have the right candidates pushing that agenda this cycle.

Imo this attitude reflects one of the problems of american politics.. From my Norwegian perspective, you have more of a 'band-aid' principle - apply a policy to counter some problem that arose, whereas we've had more of a 'dictating-societal-direction' principle. Essentially, short term gains vs long term gains - and also 'immediately popular' vs 'people will realize it was smart 20 years from now'.
Political lies might enable a politician to succeed in accomplishing some goal of theirs (and this might very well be a societal good), but it also has the long term negative effect of creating political distrust. You know, the kind which is currently enabling both Trump and Sanders. If Hillary and her GOP counterparts weren't perceived as liars, that would be half the wind fanning the sails of the anti-establishment camp. Honesty and transparency are incredibly important values for government officials to espouse.

And her results over the course of 25 years in the national spotlight are wanting to say the least. The only reason why she has gone as far as she has is her last name. I totally get that you want a competent technocrat to be the president, but she is not it.
just to be sure: you are still supporting trump? (even after that whole interview with the post)

In fairness, there never has been much enthusiasm for Hillary, which is her biggest liability. she's been in government for too long. back in the day she was able to rally the troops well, but the new generation don't have a clue what she went through in the 90's. I think you have it backwards. People know exactly "what she went through in the 90s." It's not an accident that everyone thinks that she is a liar and political hack. eh i was talking about liberal younglings. they would not take the gop view of that period. that bernie is tapping into rather than help defuse this popular but ill founded image of hillary is deeply unfortunate Liberal younglings think that she's a liar too. It's not just the "right wing conspiracy" that thinks so. this is because they are morons Are you really going to hold her up as a paragon of truth and virtue? Good fucking luck with that. Honesty and consistency are not Hillary's strengths. I find it hilarious that you're arguing otherwise. uh no it is okay to lie in politics. the younglings just vastly overvalue honesty and all that. you need to get shit done not choose a priest hillary is dedicated to the policy work and has only lied to do some politics. this is rly good So you called people morons for thinking she's a liar and then said she's a liar. ??? no i called people morons for being influenced by the liar impression. it shouldnt matter that much.
there are some people who think the hillary lies are the wall street ties!!! variety. that is just not true. for the rest the above applies

She was SoS during worst part of Obama's presidency foreign policy-wise. she's active on many committees while a senator. her current platform is the best the progressive side has to offer on many issues. her work as sos was marred by adventurism in some critical junctures but we look forward not exclusively back in assessing future capacity as president. bottom line she works hard, has sensibility for often complicated issues and is sincerely dedicated to pushing for progressive outcomes. many of obama's hanging policies need a detail focused follow through. she is really capable in this respect. See, I read this as an admission of her executive incompetence. I have no doubt that she has worked her ass off wherever she has been, but results matter. And her results over the course of 25 years in the national spotlight are wanting to say the least. The only reason why she has gone as far as she has is her last name. (even after that whole interview with the post) I'm not voting for Hillary or Bernie. Trump more closely aligns with my views than they do, so it's not really a contest.
