Weak initial reply from Sanders on current efforts to fight ISIS. He had to mention his opposition to the Iraq War at one point, but this felt shoehorned.

It was an awful question. Hillary answered it correctly ("I'd have to evaluate the circumstances at the time"), Bernie is still definitely more uncomfortable with foreign policy.

I hate how these debate questions are framed as "what would you do in this incredibly complex situation".

Only the Great Decider, Dubya himself, could YOLO and say yes/no/x in these situations.

EDIT: Sanders, please move off the Iraq thing (side note: Kerry voted for Iraq). Hillary has more hawkish foreign policy. She voted for it. A lot of people did. Move on, end of story. I don't like Hillary's answer about hurrdurr experience either TBH.

i agree on the way this question was phrased, but there is still a bad way to answer it and bernie managed to find it.

I think they're dumb questions because the correct answer is basically no answer or it's complicated and I'd need to see all the facts.

Sanders' answer on Russia/Iran/North Korea was also poor. He didn't seem to have anything to say about Russia, and he was almost improvising on NK/being extremely generic.

It feels like these guys are campaigning so hard they aren't really prepping for these debates, that last answer from Sanders on major threats was meh, he needs to work on his fopo.

Wonder who in each campaign is playing the opponents, IIRC Kerry played Romney for Obama

there's a big difference between a crazy dictator who can be a big threat for a very short time when (if) he goes nuts, and the long term agression that russia is showing. and i agree with clinton here. the latter is a significantly larger problem.

North Korea needs a lot of work on nuclear delivery to really threaten the United States (or even Japan), Russia could send much of the US back to the stone age right now.
