It sucks that the shit that the wire highlighted almost 10 years ago is still happening and not being fixed.

Alan Zegas, David Wildstein's attorney, reiterated today that Gov. Chris Christie knew about the George Washington Bridge lane closures that led to the Bridgegate scandal.
Christie "knew of the lane closures as they occurred" and "evidence exists" that proves it, Zegas said after his client pleaded guilty, although he did not say that Christie knew about the motive for the lane closures.
Zegas did not expand upon the comments, but it's not the first time that Wildstein and Zegas contended that Christie knew about the lane closures.
Zegas first suggested Christie knew about the lane closures on Jan. 31, 2014 about three weeks after the dramatic press conference in which the governor denied responsibility and knowledge of the plan.
The attorney did not indicate Christie ordered the closures or was aware of the motive, now determined by prosecutors to be political payback against Sokolich.
"Evidence exists ... tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference," Zegas wrote in a carefully worded letter last year.

baltimore officers that were charged.

I really wish one of them had a long flowing mullet.

Wonder why all of them are being charged. I only recall around 3 of them really being involved.

If they knew he needed medical attention and did not ensure he got it then they are liable, regardless of their involvement in him getting injured.

The typical prosecutor does something like this to try to get someone to flip. You tell the defendants the worst charges you might be able to prove in order to get them to testify. I imagine she is especially doing this since officers in a recent shooting refused to testify (how that doesn't take away ones ability to be a cop is beyond me).
I feel bad for Geraldo's security though.

Except they are paid public protectors. I don't have a problem with them not testifying (legally) my problem is that they could refuse to testify an then get their gun and badge handed back. There is 0 reason for a public protector not to testify unless it is protecting the public which there is no chance of that here.
So sure don't testify, just don't expect to have a job as a cop.
+ Show Spoiler +Just a quick fyi there are about to be a lot of arrests tonight. They are going to be white people refusing their 3rd/4th personal warning from police. 4th warning with a show of force was enough.
So weird to see the constant reference to some of the police officers being black (like it was some sort of "AHA! moment") when universally every Baltimore resident has said it doesn't matter.

The reason you don't testify against yourself is that you can accidentally say incriminating things. And I don't mean some bullshit like in A Few Good Men. I mean things like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-incrimination#Truthful_statements_by_an_innocent_person

Well if they grant one immunity they wouldn't have that protection. They would be compelled to testify. Does seem like a convenient time to care about constitutional rights though. Didn't seem to matter much for Freddie?

It's part of a general trend where certain rights (equality, liberty, security) are used only to a certain extent and by increasingly limited groups. Equality is used to justify ending affirmative action. Liberty is used to justify anti-gay discrimination. Security is used to justify police brutality. However, these rights always seem to become much more flexible when you're dealing with people of color/queer community/other marginalized groups.
