points != where you are in ladder. Sc2ranks sadly show % depending on points but this number is misleading. The% show where you are in points and have nothing to do with how good you are., Many people still think points show the skill but thats not the case!
the 40 20 20 ... 2% rule is the plan not the reality!
The player disrepute don't follow accurate the gauss glock anymore. Blizzards changed offsets in the past to get back to the 20 20 population but because they stopped doing it, i think they gave up on this rule totally.

Yep, nice points...
I noticed that in some divisions you need like 400 more points to be in top 8 compared with others.

You can also do the math yourself very easily if you know your league+points... EU Masters 437 points.... can somebody work this out for me, im not so good with math :D
you're on page 41 on SC2 ranks, this means you are roughly rank 4100 in EU... 189400 players overall on the EU server (4100/189400)x100=2,16
you're in the top 2,16% on the EU server. this is not 100% accurate, because I used rounded values.

i am not mad. should i be? i only made fun of your post which was not very high quality imho.
You can easily check the percentages at your profil. just go to 1vs1 click "more details" and read it. you dont even have to calculate it yourself. (but keep in mind that GM is not included in those stats)

Checking out http://www.sc2ranks.com/stats/league/eu/1/all gives updated stats about race distribution from this season, and it says that the stats are taken from 206,544 EU teams this season.. So if iam a Master guy, ranked 811 in EU, that makes me better then 99,996%? With those stats,100 000 random sc2 players from bronze to masters, I would be better then 999 994 of them o.O.. Seems like alot :x Being above someone in the ladder doesn't make you better than them, but if there's 206k players on the ladder and you're 811th, you're in the 0.4th percentile (of the ladder). 811/206544 = 0.003926 = 0.3926% (not 0.003926%) - so that's 99.6% not 99.996%. Noobcakes <3 lrn 2 maths! facepalming myself right now.. Ofc its 99.6% and not what I wrote, GG forgot grade 7 math -_-! Happens to the best of us ^^

This, 4 billion times this. I hate how people use that website for stats like this, when it obviously doesn't include all accounts. I had to manually add every single smurf I ever used to that site.
Blizzard stated a long time ago that the top 2% of each region are masters, and there is your percentage. With sc2ranks you can only get the number of masters acc registered to that side and what percentage that is.

If it's true that 2% is Masters and all Master accounts show, its easy to calculate how many other accounts there are ( unless my math fails yet again).
2% Master in EU = 8500 accounts 1% = 4250 100% = 425 000 Accounts

I would guess that sc2ranks gets all the active accounts. It takes some times for new accounts. i think all known divisions get scanned so you have to at least have one registered player in your division. The 2% was at the beginnig but blizzard abandoned that a long time ago.

So few Terrans above Silver. Grandmaster EU 43% Toss, 38% Zerg, 19% Terran o_0

Only 206'000 players left in 1v1? We seriously need HotS if we don't want to see sc2 die Oo
edit: in EU, 530k worldwide. Still very bad for the "biggest" esport title atm.

this post is so wrong in so many ways. you are reducing sc2 on only 1on1. You are saying sc2 is the biggest esport based on what? players, viewers, money? which is wrong no matter what you choose.
