After a lot of great and intensive work from @svtplay and @DreamHack we can annonce that the Summer festival will be on terrestrial TV

What eqez forgot to add is that: Dreamhack will be televised by SVT, Swedish national television, not just over the internet but by the actual TV channel aswell.

On topic (even though there is no OP)

Sweden, the Korea of Europe. Has (arguably) the second best progamers in the world (after koreans) and the strongest esports scene...

I think it's time to move there :p

Put some effort in the OP at least.

Good news, but I'm afraid they'll just show it on SVT24 or something...

Basically, DreamHack and SVT, Sweden's biggest television company, are furthering there partnership. Before this SVT only showed DreamHack over SVTPlay, their online service, but will not be shown on public TV, starting DreamHack Summer. For more info about SVT, see their Wikipedia page.

The plan is to broadcast it live.

"Målsättningen är att sändningarna även fortsättningsvis primärt visas på SVT Play, men i år kommer SVT och DreamHack även sända e-sport live på marksänd TV i någon av SVT:s kanaler under året. "

"The goal is that the broadcasts are shown primarily on SVT Play, but this year SVT and DreamHack will also be broadcasting e-sport live on terresial TV on one of SVT's channels during the year."

I'm guessing the finals of DHS12 and DHSW12 will be on TV. Might only be the winter finals though.

This news comes out the day Naniwa makes it to RO8 of code S. I'm sure the agreement was negotiated before but the official news is released today ... Coincidence ? I don't think so

Translation of the press release:

The esports tournament in Starcraft II, DreamHack EIZO Open Stockholm, is arranged this weekend 21-22 of april in Annexet (t/n the arena for the event) and is the beginning for DreamHack's esports season 2012. The competition is also the beginning for a deepened collaboration between DreamHack and Sveriges Television (Swedish national television).

Sveriges Television has broadcast esports from DreamHack twice a year since winter 2009. During 2012 there will be more live broadcasts of esports than ever before. Sveriges Television will broadcast live from five of DreamHack's competiotions during the year, beginning this weekend. This is to be compared with two events during previous years.

The goal is to primarily broadcast on SVT Play (t/n the online service), but this year SVT and DreamHack will also broadcast esports live on the terrestrial network in one of SVT's channels during the year.

- The interest for live broadcasts of esports is radpidly growing and we are very happy to be able to, in collaboration with SVT, offer more from DreamHack's competitions during the year. DreamHack prodcuces hundreds of hours of live broadcast esports every year and SVT will broadcast select parts of the best matches, says Tomas Hermansson, esports representative at DreamHack.

The first broadcast is this coming weekend, where SVT will broadcast the seven final games of the Starcraft II tournament from Annexet in Stockholm on SVT Play.

- SVT Play will be our exclusive media partner for the Swedish titles for the DreamHack EIZO Open tournament. They will also broadcast the most prestigious final matches in several international tournaments from our two big festivals DreamHack Summer and DreamHack Winter, says Fredrik Nyström, media representative at DreamHack.

Second best SC2 progamers in the world, arguably the best CS players, and not close WoW arena/LoL players :D

Also I heard it's like 85% atheist, I am seriously considering moving there and opening a vintage game bar, where users can freeplay oldschool videogames, drink craft beers, and of course I'll be showing barcrafts for every major event.

if it's as terrible as the shows they've done online, all they will do is make everyone hate computer games even more
