Reading a bunch of stuff for school. In my lit class we read Canterbury Tales, Dante's Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradisio, also Beowulf. Reading the Life of Cahrlemagne and the Prince in History.

Also reading the Bible. Translating the entire gospel of John from Latin Vulgate to English.

Just finished reading:

I really love this series, it's so enjoyable and light-hearted throughout.

As a sidenote, I like Baen's policy about ARC's being purchasable.

Reading Scarecrow: Army of Thieves
Halfway through it, it is decent, but not as good as Scarecrow

Just started on Hyperion Book 2,

really, there's no point reading any of the new sci fi until you've gone through the classics. I should have read this ages ago, it would have saved me a lot of time trawling through sci fi trash looking for gold.

Spoken truly! Working my way through Endymion atm, and after that gonna read alastair reynolds and neuromancer and some other works i ordered on amazon! But there is one series i cannot recommend enough, as much a "classic" as any:

"The Night's Dawn trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton"

An absolute masterpiece by any measure or standards!

Oh wow, I was completely unaware that the Hyperion books were an entire series, thought it was just the two.

I really like Hyperion, but Fall of Hyperion got a little too far into the realm of crazy bullshit for me. Very well thought out and interesting bullshit, but I felt like it was more short story territory instead of something that should be in a novel.

How are the Endymion books if you've read them yet? Very curious if I should pick that series back up or not.

The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan - good so far, though it will have to pick up to match I, Lucifer.

Next on the cards is The Player of Games by Iain M Banks, then The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Can't wait.

The sequel to Trainspotting, which was amazingly good. This one didn't start out as good, but I'm about 2/3rds of the way through it now and it's getting pretty interesting..

Not much if truth be told. Just finished reading both The Outsider and The Fall, both by Camus. Got a pretty hefty ethics book to get through for uni, so I don't have much time for personal reading.

Love me some Irvine Welsh @oldgregg. You're right though, it's nowhere near as good as Trainspotting.

I'm just rereading The Wheel of Time, because, well, I started reading it like 6-7 years ago and I wouldn't remember shit if I were to try to read the last volume :D
I don't read that often nowadays though, so I guess it will take me another 2 years to reread it completely. FML :D

Well, i just finished the first Endymion book, and i must say i find it to be the best of the first three yet! I can't wait for what the final volume will bring! If you have read the first two, i defo reccomend to read the Endymion series as well, it's a whole new "setup" (i won't spoiler stuff so i can't tell you much) in the future of the Hyperion setting!

I'm very close to finishing 1Q84 and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. This is actually my first Murakami novel so I'm going to pick up another one of his books after I'm done with this one, however, I'm not quite sure which on yet. People seem to really like The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle but the fact that the translation has been heavily abridged is a bit of a disappointment.

I'm also making my way through Theodore Rex.

Interesting and very topical. Would strongly recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in economics.
