Korean solo queue is a very strong indicator for the individual skill of the player, to the degree that it's smartest to give high elo players priority for tryouts, but it is not a guarantee that this or that player will do well in professional play. I think this should be pretty intuitive.

Yes, in terms of pure mechanics, soloQ is a good measure. But pro player adds a whole different dimension with strategy, teamwork, nerves, etc. Yes, Faker was a solo Q god, but that doesn't necessarily mean all solo Q gods will transition as well. It is like street ball players going to NBA. Sure, a lot of NBA players used to tear it up on the playground, doesn't mean all good playground players will be good in the NBA. Yeah, but the whole point of giving challenger players priority is to spend less time looking for players. It's more likely to find good potential pro players based by solo q rank.

i wonder how the korean scene would look now with a draft structure like it was in bw. a team like skt would probably be difficult to form in that world.

He was pick'd by reapered or the organization sk telecom t1 for the ogn before quantic. And he played pretty poorly and when esg won the iem he wasn't even with the team that was mightly. So if you think i'm wrong tell me when, against who he played well ?

Xenics teams possibly dead. Minus Swift for Storm and Blast's bot duo of Ink and Okyu the rest of the members of BOTH squads have left. CoCo to Frost? Piccaboo to SKT K ? The possibilities are endless.
IceBear also didn't re-contract with Jin Air.

the brilliant plan i came up with when leopard played for KT B in the third place match was insec back to jungle for KT A with ssumday, coco, arrow, and piccaboo.

I am not sure about that. The only touted player when SKT formed was Faker due to his solo Q prowess. The other 4 has developed a lot under SKT.

bengi and Piglet were also well-known SoloQ players in Korea, but they weren't Faker-status. Faker was rank 1 on SoloQ for like 4 months straight, pretty sure he did that in Season 3 too. Not sure about bengi, but Piglet was someone who got passed over by other pro-teams, and it gave him a chip on his shoulder and fire that burns him to constantly improve and achieve perfection. There is that famous screenshot from one of his streams where he basically says he's gonna destroy everybody who overlooked him next season, which he did.

CoCo (ex-Xenics Storm) and Lira (ex-KT Arrows) seem to have been selected as the new mid and jungle for CJ Entus Frost. Both have changed their IDs and are duoing together.
Line-ups looking pretty good.

He had some hype, he was considered one the best players from the old CTU squad, but I've personally not seen him play a lot either. Although I wanna say he plays an aggressive/gank-heavy style which is exactly what CJ Frost needed.

I didn't really watch KTA in NLB but he pretty much single handedly cost KTA their spot in OGN by feeding kuro non-stop and getting caught all the time. I think he got better from what I saw after.

There is also a rumor that KaKAO may have been moved back to KT A as the jungler, inSec back to jungler for KT B, and Leopard being starting top solo for KT B. These rumors are based on a picture posted by KT Rolster's head coach posting a picture on his FB with KaKAO in a KT A uniform (black jacket) vs KT B uniform (navy jacket). If true, poor KaKAO gets screwed over by management again...
Also ActScene appears to have joined NaJin (changed his id to NaJin ActScene) with Winged subbing for watch in Sword, its safe to assume ActScene is being brought into replace/sub NoFe.
|
Lol NaJin has 5 junglers now: Watch, Winged, Nagne, NoFe, ActScene. I guess 4 now since Nagne has pretty much claimed the mid role. NaJin's combined roster is huge!
