So I mostly post on the League of Legends section of TL, since that's the game I play. There was some drama going on where a popular, high ELO player had a crush on a girl (both of them stream). They were supposed to meet up at IEM New York, and the girl kissed a few other guys, and maybe some other stuff went on - no one really knows and it's all hearsay at this point.
Of course, nerdrage occurs with people calling her a slut, a bitch, etc. etc. - typical sexist slut shaming. Let me show you some of these gems. (The entire thread can be found here, but the fun doesn't really start until page 5-6.)

In the hypothetical situation where she is indeed a slut(more than likely), I still don't understand why anyone would make a big deal about it, be it online or in real life. The word slut exists because it refers to certain kinds of women. He's been living quite the protected life if this is the first time he's come across one.

There is something incredibly wrong with how many people have such strong opinions on something as benign as a girl video game tournament. It just seems so unhealthy to the internet psychologist in me that there's countless people who will argue with such conviction over it. I just don't understand it at all. Yeah, this is pretty much why I am so bitter about the community. Shit like this happens a lot. And it's not like it's an attack on one particular girl, it turned into an attack on just women in general. I feel attacked by these kind of posts, and the whole discussion is not about me originally.
Even if it doesn't reflect the viewpoint of the majority of our community, it definitely stands out that most of them can't be fucked to defend another human being from this kind of treatment. :/ When you hear this really vocal minority? and nothing else, it's really easy to feel like everyone else probably agrees. It's depressing.

I don't know about this particular case but "slut shaming" (rofl what a way to put it) doesn't really bother me. I'm not going to encourage it though but I'm allowed to feel a certain way about people that act a certain way.
People that are overly promiscuous don't really sit well with me, girl or guy, at a video game tournament or not. It's just a question of morals for me. I'm not going to go judge people 1 by 1 because I know it's the standard these days but that doesn't mean I need to accept their choice; just tolerate it.
It still bothers me when people flaunt it, like certain bloggers on this site. It bothers me in real life too. I leave them alone but I certainly don't want to end up with a girl like that.
I know I hold unpopular beliefs amongst my generation but I'd rather be unpopular than lie to myself and say I agree with how people act.

I repeatedly want to bring up the attitudes a lot of men seem to have on the Internet towards women (and how it seems more and more often to be spreading to real life) but I realised that I'm probably becoming cynical so I've realised on TL especially it's just too depressing to try to reason with these people - and I could right an entire essay on the issues on how women are treated by the TL community. Edit: I feel I should add - though it's probably obvious - I don't mean every single man on TL.
On the Internet in general aswell though, self proclaimed male right's activists (most of whom have no legitimate claim to that term and only harm the important efforts that are actually needed) seem to be creating a very disturbing world view in male dominated spaces.
Spending a lot of time online I have to say I more often find myself wondering how many men are actually thinking like this in real life too? I'm still sure it's mostly just teenagers online but it's still kinda sad.

That isn't the issue at hand. The issue is that when someone said, "why does no one care when one of the male figures sleeps around, but when one of the female figures do the community at large is so quick to throw the epitaph, 'slut'?", someone else replied with, "well, men and women are different so saying such a thing isn't inherently wrong, you're just being politically correct", which is just completely fucking absurd and doesn't even address the question in a coherent way at all.

As much as I can understand the anger and disappointment, I think it is bad to call out anyone in such harsh ways.
Once upon a time, I was crazy for this guy I was dating. We dated for about a year, then drama happened and we broke up. We kept seeing each other after a bit of a break, and, about four months later, it really seemed like we were getting back together (we were going on dates, hanging out, etc). One night, I slept with him again and, in the morning, we were snuggling together and he told me he loved me.
That very night, he got drunk and fucked some random girl he didn't know. It really broke me when he greeted me the next day, hickies covering his neck, less than 24 hours after he slept with me and told me he loved me. I went nuts. I raged, I cried.
And you know what? No one cared. I went on huge rants about how much of a jerk/man-slut/asshole he was to do that. In the end, I just ended up making myself look crazy.
Now, almost two years later, I look back on the incident and realize that all of that raging probably was a bit crazy. That calling him out and trying to get the world to see his cruelty was not the right response. Yeah, it sucks, yeah, maybe he was a "slut," but that's no reason to run around and share my drama with the world.
Now, if I think my reaction was misplaced in my case, which seems to be much more defined, direct and extreme, I have a hard time finding anyone being able to justifying throwing out such cruel language to a poor girl who kissed some boys.
Yeah, maybe she deserves it (which I doubt, I think using a word as harsh as "slut" on someone for kissing other people is too extreme), but maybe she got peer-pressured in to saying a few things she really didn't mean and is just searching around trying to find Mr. Right in a more hands-on way than some others do.

I'm a little too worn out after Blizzcon to be more coherant, but I really think the term "slut" is overused. Due to my costumes (yes, I know some of them have been extremely skimpy, but my intent has always been to make cool looking costumes, not show off my flesh), I have been called a "slut." It hurts, it really hurts, especially when I am in a relationship where I would do absolutely anything for my partner. I feel like being called a "slut" is degrading to my relationship, and that really gets under my skin. People can call me an attention whore or whatever shit they want, but I will not stand for people saying negative things about my relation with someone who means so much to me.

When a Women plays on a top team then I'll respect them as a gamer, If they are a good caster thats gretorp level then I'll respect them as a caster, if they contibute to the community (like riku) then I'll remember they're name and listen to what they have to say, otherwise they're just another Esport's mark like the rest of us.
