Now before some old school BW players jump down my throat, hear me out.

I totally loved Day and Husky this weekend in MLG. They were just awesome. I love when Husky's talking at a million miles an minute and you can hear Day saying "uh oh.. uh ohh... UH OH!" in the background, it makes the event so exciting. Day[9] always gives great, deep deep insights that help noobs like myself understand the intricacies and beauty of the top tier of play. Husky has a great way of keeping up with the action and giving just enough insight to keep new players and non-players interested in what the hell is going on in the game. Of course, it's painful sometimes to hear him to use "is" instead of "are," for plural nouns, but other than that, the man's pretty much flawless imho.

On the other hand.

The Casting Archon of Tasteless and Artosis are, obviously, famous as hell. I don't know a lot about BW history, correct me if I'm wrong, but Day[9], Tasteless and Artosis were all high level players who had a very keen eye and nuanced understanding of the game. Both Artosis and Tasteless spend a lot of time casting GSL games, which are (arguably) the highest level of play in existence.. but during MLG, I was sort of underwhelmed. Perhaps it's because Husky and Day9 were much more familiar to me.. I don't know in a quantifiable way.

Now to be fair, I don't watch the GSL. I used to watch Artosis' youtube stuff, but I stopped in favor of Day[9]. Admittedly, I'm biased towards Day and Husky because they've helped me grow as a player the most.

I think at the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference, so I'd like to ask all of you:

Poll: Which Casting Duo Do You Like Better?

The Casting Archon: Tasteless and Artosis (591)

47%

Day[9] and HuskyStarcraft (331)

26%

I like them both equally. (316)

25%

I just don't care. (29)

2%

Your vote: Which Casting Duo Do You Like Better?

(Vote): The Casting Archon: Tasteless and Artosis
(Vote): Day[9] and HuskyStarcraft
(Vote): I like them both equally.
(Vote): I just don't care.

I hope I'm not being blasphemous, I recognize completely that Artosis and Tasteless were excellent players in their time and probably understand the game to greater depth than I perhaps ever will. I respect the two immensely and laud them for everything they've done for Starcraft and E-Sports, same to Day[9] and Husky.

EDIT:

It seems like, right now, the casting archon is the favorite. If you know of any particularly memorable casting nuggets from the Casting Archon, please link if possible, so that we all may have a good laugh/ be impressed.

Good stuff.
When in doubt, nydus.

K9 just seemed to have the stamina unlike the archon. It makes me worry that they're not casting as much as they could or should be to keep their voices up

I really liked both equally. They're also similar in terms of having one analytical caster (Day[9]/Artosis respectively) and one play-by-play caster (Husky/Tasteless) which makes a good casting archon.
Switching between streams has been a blast, I never felt like I was missing out on the other stream and therefore could choose the stream that I felt had the better game. Both were very very high quality casts. Gj everyone!

I kinda have to agree bro, and thanks so much for posting. I don't make original posts often and it always freaks me out if no one posts for the first few minutes haha, cheers

I think the most insightful moment of the weekend was Tasteless + JP. I've never heard a more serious conversation about donuts, Tasteless has a hilarious affect on people.

I think the real thing to take from this, instead of trying to make it a caster competition, is that Husky is finally being appreciated here on TL. Rewind a year ago and mentioning his name brought on tons of hate. Good to hear that not only has he improved, the community's perception of him reflects it.

I loved the Husky and Day9 combo all the way back to the first ever MLG with SC2. Out of the combinations they've tried (including HD, JP, and DJWheat), I really really love the Husky/Day9.

I don't even really like Husky alone casting (no offense), but there is something about the two of them together that is awesome.

That said, the casting archon is the casting archon. Gonna vote for like both equally.

MLG is the only event I watch right now because the casting is just perfect. Having both of my favorite caster pairs is just amazing.

What about Jtosis or TasteP? I thought Jtosis was absolutely hilarious, yet still cast the game very well.

I didn't want to make it a competition or anything, I just wanted to know who likes who and why =) I feel like a lot of starcraft 2 casters are really really talented and enjoyable to listen to, and yeah, I'm really happy the Husky's getting recognition for his epic improvement.
When in doubt, nydus.

I had fun on both, they all know a lot about the game mechanics which is highly enjoyable and they all have some unique commenting style!

I just regretted at the end the voice problems of tasteless but appreciated how he still seemed to try to be as "out of control" as usual.

If they were not casting the games I doubt I would spend all my weekend watching streams haha

The only bad thing is that there were too often 2 games casted at the same time and then nothing on both streams for a long time...

But overall, thank you so much Tastosis, Husky and Day9!!! (and JP!!)

I watch GSL and tastosis are better there than MLG I think. tasteless voice was breaking down and the long hours made them a bit quiet.

tastless and artosis can talk about rubbish and both would have lows of fun doing that because they are old fds but day9 and husky don't have it, even through they do try.

I liked K9 better this weekend.

I feel Tastosis are at their best casting the GSL. They know the Korean players better than anyone and with so many seasons casted they've developed a solid routine that really makes the GSL a much more enjoyable experience. Compared to that, I've always felt they aren't as good at foreigner events such as MLG and NASL.

As to your request for "memorable casting nuggets" of Tastosis, this thread seems apt.

K[9] is a much more exciting casting combo imo. I know Tastossis is more experienced but Husky and Day[9] have hit their stride since casting together these past months on their respective youtube channels.

There's something about excitement and analysis (Day[9] and Husky) over monotone and dullness (Archon.) that just made me vote for Husky and Day[9]

The Casting archon was already my favorite but when they did the fusion on MLG that made my day weekend.

I don't get these threads. Since SC2 hit there's been like 50+ threads with polls just like this one just minor variations. It's like people are obsessed with casters, or the need to express their opinion of them.

Both duos did a good job, just as expected..
