A player who wins every western tourney would make more than someone who gets second place every month in GSL.

GOM really isn't 100% required to compete in SC2.

Possibly, but at this point, would Savior be the one who wins every tournament in west? Not to mention how expensive it is to travel all around, especially without a team/sponsor.

And as GTR said last page, even MLG most likely would ban him because of the cooperation they are doing together.

It would be kinda wrong to ban him, yet allow other known cheaters/maphackers compete.

SC2 is a second chance to a lot of people outside of korea I guess.

And a lot of people consider BW pros (even ex ones) so good they would dominate.

I wouldn't compare maphackers or cheaters (of course it depends what scale of hacker/cheater you are, but in this case i bet its not that huge thing.) with someone who fixed matches for gamblers or was part of it. It's completely different in my eyes and the ban is pretty much deserved yet unfortunate.

I think saviors ban is bullshit for one. the continuing ban from GOM is straight out bullying.

Throwing in games does not give him an edge in the competition. it is nothing like a maphack or such. because of this, there is no reason for the sport to be so condemning. i do think that match fixing is bad for the sport but that is in the exactly same sense in which it is bad for the sport if a good player plays bad one day and loses to a bad player - plus that IF match fixing gets wide spread the _overall_ quality of the game diminishes.

But fortunately for us and the game, even the betting is already illegal. The kespa doesn't really have to do anything about it. Some much smaller punishment is due in my opinion, but largely symbolic.
To keep the best player ever from perhaps another shot at bw or a new career in sc2 because of criminal activities at the side of gaming is fucking stupid.

Maphacking result in undeserved wins.
Match fixing result in undeserved losses.

While the legal implications are worse for match fixing, maphacking and tournament cheating is worse for the competition, and should deserve harsh treatment too. If what Savior did result in a ban, then cheating should too.

I understand, and maybe there was point to compare those two after all, sorry.

I'm glad cheating/maphacking isnt happening that easily in competitive gaming(such as tournaments like GSL, MLG, Proleague, so on.) as long as it's not an online tournament.

What's ironic is that gom let a known bw maphacker play in one of their tournaments.

im so torn i want to support savior and give him a second chance and all, and yet i dont think theres a worst crime that you can do in the realm of esports. I mean playing and throwing matches because someone tempted you is one thing, but jumping in and help organize and broker the cash crosses a new line imo.

BUT I STILL WANT TO WATCH HIM PLAYYY

i feel that all of them are equally responsible. sure, savior did alot more and deserves a bigger punishment, but all of them knew what they were doing was wrong and they crossed the same line savior did. i dont think they should be absolved of any responsibility or treated any better than savior
