I forgive Savior, man. It's easy money. People do stupid thing. He's sorry. punished for it. It's time to start over.

SC2 please.

He is barred from the GSL anyways, and it wouldn't surprise me if he was denied entry into many foreign competitions as well. His career as a progamer is likely over.

Foreign competitions let hackers have a second chance, some redeemed themselves.
I say redemption for the maestro is acceptable.

that's some hardcore fanboyism

Savior participated and recruited players to fix games

he should never be involved in progaming again

I don't know, I don't think it's a harsher crime to lose games on purpose for money than to use tools to get an unfair advantage over your opponent to win money.

I think we'd be using a double standard if we don't allow him back in after a year or 2.

I'm not saying I'd allow him back in. I personally would give equally harsh punishments to ex-hackers.

I totally agree here, i think it's safe to say both actions are similar enough to warrant the same punishment.

The whole savior story makes me so sad. A young, talented boy felt into disgrace for just few bucks and then almost everyone could spit on him. It's brutally childish, him and the soceity, especially the latter. It reminds me of a novel by coetzee with same name. There's no turning back now. But because I used to enjoy his games so much, I wish better things happen to him. Life is very long, there's always hope.

But didn't Savior also encourage others to participate in this, was he not one of the masterminds of the betting-scandal? (I may be in the wrong here since it was a bit fuzzy when I read about it)
But would that not mean according to your logic that he would be eligable to receive the same punishment as hackers X the amount of times he made players and himself loose?

I think that beacuse he made the money he did, all the matches he fixed and the fact that his crimes damaged the entire Korean Broodwar E-sports scene as a whole (Especially considering who he was) makes the punishment he received totally fair.
And by fair I mean I can absolutely see why he received the punishment he did, I too want to see him play again, I was a huge Savior fan but the rational side of my brain can't forgive him even though I would have nothing against Savior playing again

Savior made WAYYYYYY more than a few bucks. He knew who was throwing a match and when. That knowledge basically would make him invincible on the actual betting sites themselves. Think about how much money you could make in a week if you knew exactly when the Yankees were going to win and lose.

LOL. Not even remotely close. The levels of money involved... 3 million WON which is only like 3000 dollars per match.

Anyone who thinks the damage Savior did to e-sports was about the money doesn't understand the situation. Still, at the end of the day Savior is a kid who allowed himself to fall in with the wrong kind of people. As I said in another thread, anyone who thinks of Savior and can only feel anger doesn't have a right to judge. It's an emptiness I feel.

This.

On the one hand, I feel sorry for Savior. He fell in with the wrong kind of people and made a lot of wrong decisions.....whenever I think of Savior I don't feel angry but emptiness like you said, he was basically my BW idol and the reason why I started playing Zerg.

However, as much as I want to see him come back to play BW, I understand that the damage done was too great, and that he can never be allowed back.

If KT coach was talking about that Savior can't play games that are streamed live in the inet... I'd say WTF? He's banned from pro gaming, not from life and anything in the world X_X

I would personally like to see his games. Though I suppose there are no vods recorded.

I know, he's a fallen legend, but still a legend. I think the same as no one can take the blame from him, no one also can take his achievements from him. T_T

Yeah, I remember hirosue streamed some games of savior playing against 1a2a3a/terror[fou]. It was totally awesome to see him play again.

Fine, ban him from professional play but trying to push him out of casual gaming too is a bit ridiculous.

At least for more serious tournaments, there is a very key difference. A progamer plays in controlled cirucmstances, whether they've hacked or not they are unable to while playing in a booth. A player can throw a game at any time, though, and it's a lot harder to detect.

Why Art_of_Kill is WARNED for this post ?
Does the mod think comparing a young guy who made a big mistake to a child molestor isnt a "totally retarded" statement?

Ma Jae Yoon is still a personal hero of mine, and always will be. KT's coach is really out of line with that comment. Comparable to Pete Rose in the United States, except Savior was a "kid" at the time and deserves a little slack. If you respect your "sport" so much, you should always respect the GODS that made it possible. It's understandable for him to say, "savior shouldn't be here", but to insult him and be that rude, WOW KT coach is on my shit list now.

People still ragging on the KT coach for a comment for which he immediately retracted and apologized, while simultaneously falling over themselves to nominate Savior for reinstatement? Savior fans.

He has every right to hate Savior's guts. The guy did immeasurable damage to the industry and risked the livelihoods of hundreds for his own personal gain.

Of course he has the right to hate Savior's guts, but there is a responsibility that comes with being a coach. If his comment wasn't 100 percent out of line he wouldn't have retracted it right away, and when people get out of line they should be bashed. You can't just take something back either, try calling your girlfriend something with the word "trasH", then take it back and say it's ok.

I have seriously no idea how this post could result in a warning, but it goes to show - togheter with the comment from the KT coach - how people are unable to see this in a perspective. Maybe it is in part beacause Savior was such a hero to so many people. But he was just a kid, and this is way too harsh. Of course he will never be able to come back into BW, but I for one would love to see him in Starcraft 2.

You know what. Human make mistakes and lose to temptation. Savior made his and thus suffered the consequences.

However, that should not erase his achievements. He once stood above all, with strength and charisma. He was one of the rarest programers whose charm extended outside of his games and boosted the number of BW audience. His rise signified beginning of modern Zerg playstyle while his fall triggered the revolution of the Protoss race. I may have lost respect for Ma Jae Yoon the man, but I will forever be a fan of Savior the player.
