Carefoot was awesome enough to start posting a weekly blog to update the community about his trip and experiences during his 3 month stay in Korea. This might be a useful read for anyone who was thinking about making the trek over to Korea but don't know what to expect.
For those not aware of Carefoot. He is just your regular joe who loves all things Starcraft and had some extra dough so he thought "Why not try my 1600+ diamond luck at GSL season 3 and see how far i get". Hailing from Vancouver, Canada. Carefoot left to start his journey late last week and has since decided to keep a updated blog on l2sc.net of his experiences at the GSL/Korea.
There are 2 guys from Blizzard here and a few Koreans smoking, they are the Blizzard esports team. I am wearing a Teamliquid T-shirt, one of them says "Oh I know who you are, you're one of the TL guys"
Artosis is a dick, Tasteless helped me from dying on my first night in Korea by sending me in the right direction for where to stay on my first night in Korea.
LOL. Exactly how I picture Artosis to be though, not gonna lie. Especially when you watch the unfiltered Artosis that is uploaded on youtube. Calling people retards on a partnered youtube channel??? Stay classy =). Still gotta props to him for excellent commentating though.
Carefoot is pretty ballsy to just go there alone, without much planning and without really knowing anything. Can't wait to see pictures though.
I imagine Carefoot may have seen a lot of himself in artosis, maybe thats why they didn't get on Don't get me wrong im a fan of both of them, it just seems like they both have personalities that would be a bit abrrasive
LOL Carefoot just lays it out with no BS in his blog I love it keep it going carefoot!..doesn't surprise me that he thinks Artosis is a dick, I mean cmon people...he's a good commentator usually but often times leaves his co-caster "hanging" with untimely silences and no-comments when it is his turn to speak. Other times it just looks like he likes to be the one making the important points and act like he has heard of everything else. Many people think Tasteless does a bad job (which he sometimes does) but often times it is just Artosis thinking he is "too high level" to respond and not making the rapport work..anyways this wasn't about them so keep it up Foot <3 PS with that said I do enjoy tastosis most of the time

Today he was nice(r) but I will have to approach him sooner then later about my friends T-shirt, which according to my friend when Artosis saw the custom made shirt he was wearing at Blizzcon either Tasteless or Artosis stole the idea and sold it at the handsome nerd.
Everytime I see Tasteless he smiles and calls me buddy, Artosis says hey and does the head nod like we're cool or some shit.. YES I know I look a lot like the motherfucker and yes we both have that elitest nerd type personality except the diffrence is I try to make fun of myself more then others.
Or at least I try. I'm such a goofy motherfucker its hard to even try to lay into someone else.
I'll update the blog soon I have a lot of content and I *just* got my internet back.

yeah I totally agree. People took 1 sentence from his whole post, and tried to blow it up into something huge. Now he's here trying to defend himself over something that people should just take with a grain of salt. I find thats the way the SC/sc@ community is. Carefoot seems a very cool guy who is up front about his thoughts. I like that attitude than the people who nut-hug stars and humiliate poor players. Not saying Artosis does that, but sometimes he feels like a fan-girl in his casts, and other times, he is really pouring shit on players.
It's OK, I guess, since most of those are Korean and won't be offended anyway.
PS I must add, that during casts, I laugh a lot, so I am OK, as long as players are OK

His upfront and blunt approach to things is definitely refreshing and fun to read which is exactly what he promised right? Entertainment. I think people need to be more like this in general. There's nothing entertaining about courtesy.
Carefoot i see what you are trying to do. I understand you just want to be friends with Artosis and the pro gamers thats cool. But think, they are pros at a video game, you have to think about how many hours pros put into that game. Days worth weeks/ months now im not saying this applies to all but how social do you think pro gamers are. Yea they talk to other gamers about the GAME but outside of that good luck. Then again some people just aren't social with/without games.
So carefoot has been raging on korean ladder for the past, like, 5 hours. BMing every other game he loses, which is pretty much the every [gold level] game.
Anyway when I met Artosis he was pretty much the very definition of friendly and well mannered. Great guy .. but when I read Carefoot's blog I didn't even notice him call Artosis a dick. I was too busy reading all the stuff about his experiences with Korea itself. Sounds like a great place ... I mean if his biggest complaint about it is that there are churches there .. Well, it almost sounds like paradise.

Just throwing my opinion on the situation here guys.
I met Carefoot at a lan cafe in Vancouver, he watched me play and asked if i wanted to play a couple of games. I said sure. He was at 850 points at the time, although he claimed 1200+ to my face. I am a 1500 zerg, and i rolled him all three times, and i am terrible. After the second game he gave me a bunch of poor sport excuses why I rolled him. At this point the other guys in the lan cafe gave him a hard time so we played for the third, where I rolled him again. I found it odd that he was boasting so much about his skill that i managed to take him down with ease. He blamed his losses on various things like the noise in the cafe.
He was a very interesting character, he is very quirky. Very quirky. I was fine with that but some of the guys in the LAN cafe found it annoying. Personally i find him a pretty cool guy to be around, he was nice and friendly, although sometimes he acted like a "poor-sport". He is definitely a different type of person.
So before you start calling Artosis a dick realize that you may not have the most attractive personality and he might not want to be friends with you, regardless of your gifts or stories. Respect that before you start trash talking him.
Anyways, i don't have the replays of the games we played since it was at a lan cafe and they shut down (SO SAD, thats where a tourny was being held), but if carefoot can dig them up he uploaded them to some replay website(which i can't find) that would be great. If you can make fun of yourself so much, then you should not of had any problem with Artosis's 'shitty joke' as it wouldn't have bothered you. You would have laughed it off, and not have made everyone really awkward and unable to laugh along because you took said 'shitty joke' so seriously.
Obviously Carefoot follows true to the saying 'It is a lot easier said than done.'
He's obviously counting his bonus-pool as well, which honestly isn't all that wrong. As a 1600+ (without counting bonus-pool, oh yeah, I'm good.) I can assure you the difference between a 1,6k and 900 dude, is next to none in most cases.

Exactly. I just gave my point blank opinion, I walk off a plane, take a picture with a guy, give him a gift and then he notes my ID is awful. I explain my ID is my last name. I try to break the uncomfortable tension with a joke about myself (ie. a self jab, not insulting him) as a poor translation possibly is reacted with a break in eye contact to make the comment that my story is gay. I call it a dick move but hey what do I know I am just a nerd. In elementary school I made a kid cry with just words, am I any better?

I enjoy frequenting bars, clubs and discos but I don't inbue alcohol nearly as much as I just enjoy dancing. I'm growing my hair out in an attempt to be more androgynous. I like rap music by the artist Gift of Gab because his poetry floors me. This is a blog!
Pretty obscure song for me to post but its all so groovy. Some of my smoothest games of SC we're me playing to the soundtrack of anything by either Blackalicious or Gift of Gab. I concede rap isn't generally good for gaming unless in this rare instance its as sick as this last album.
I concede further that every album he has been attached to is both sick and or groovy.

I have no idea no idea what you're rambling on about in this post but you come across as such a douchebag. I really can't blame Artosis for not liking you from how you come across with your posts, I just don't understand how you can justify publicly laying into a guy for being a bit rude. I don't have a problem with voicing your opinions on all the players in the korean scene but it's got beyond the point of voicing your opinion and just being overly agressive and gossipy. You remind me of me when I was 14, trying to embarrass someone over the internet because they annoyed me a bit.
For people saying they find it refreshing someone being honest and he says what he thinks, I'm pretty sure all the information we get from Korea is honest but it's just not from the perspective of a dick like this.
The drama and slanderous remarks in this thread are really unattractive. Just some criticism, I would rather hear more about Korea and less about your own opinion of other people.

Exactly. I just gave my point blank opinion, I walk off a plane, take a picture with a guy, give him a gift and then he notes my ID is awful. I explain my ID is my last name. I try to break the uncomfortable tension with a joke about myself (ie. a self jab, not insulting him) as a poor translation possibly is reacted with a break in eye contact to make the comment that my story is gay. I call it a dick move but hey what do I know I am just a nerd. In elementary school I made a kid cry with just words, am I any better?
Its a blog, I fucking hate blogs but I am doing this because I love L2SC.
But some stuff (ie. hint the fact that I might actully be gay or that homophobia in general can on the wrong note ruin my opinion of people) is personal. It is a public diary. I don't mind putting some of my feelings out, but not all of them. I assume most of you can take some shit on face value. Some people are dicks and they are friends. Pretty obscure song for me to post but its all so groovy. Some of my smoothest games of SC we're me playing to the soundtrack of anything by either Blackalicious or Gift of Gab. I concede rap isn't generally good for gaming unless in this rare instance its as sick as this last album.

This is right, I can't disagree with you here. However if I meet someone and don't get along with them I realise I shouldn't be around them and just leave it at that. I don't have a problem with Carefoot disliking Artosis, I can even somewhat tolerate him calling Artosis a dick in his blog but now he's going too far; trying to justify his rudeness and just not letting the whole thing drop. Hell I'm an Idra fan but I don't really care about what he says too much. If it were something outrageously bad I would start minding but if he's just voicing his honest opinion then that's perfectly fine with me. And I agree with him.
I met carefoot at a lan with goatrope, here is what I thought of him.
Me n rope went to go cast a Vancouver lan and we decided to hit mcdonalds for some dinner. We decided to ask carefoot and scenenomnom if they wanted to take over while we were gone.
After getting back we let them finish casting their game and rope kindly moved towards his seat reaching his hand out for the mic. Carefoot took it the wrong way and assumed that he would stay on longer. After that he was continuously asking the live stream about how amazing his casting was and more questions about himself trying to stay on as long as he could. We didn't mind that much because we had been casting for a couple hours, but it was a little weird.
After a while rope and I got back on the mic and we started casting the semi finals and the deeper games in the tournament. Carefoot kept hanging around and was CONSTANTLY trying to talk to me trying to have a conversation when I was clearly trying to cast. He also kept asking me to check stream chat to see if anyone was saying anything about him. I didn't want to be a dick so I smiled and tried to give him some tidbits here and there until I couldn't take it anymore and ignored him.
He does seem like he has genuine intentions, and an all right guy to have a conversation with. But when it comes down to it there's something really off about the guy, like he was home schooled and missing some essential social skills.

But If it turns out that the mouse was taken wrongfully... I'm currently in possession of said mouse and with the proper evidence i have no problems returning it to the owner. Its still in the original packaging.

There is obviously some bias towards Artosis here on teamliquid as he is an outstanding asset to the teamliquid community, but you have to wait and think about the overall situation - Carefoot's way to deal with things like this is not simply letting it go, rather he doesn't stop talking about the remark; he continues to post about said remark with each post filled of arrogance and douchebaggery when the situation was better just left alone as a small snide insult towards Artosis.
People aren't joining Artosis's side, they are simply leaving Carefoot's side.

I don't see why there have to be sides. If Carefoot thinks Artosis is a dick that's just a subjective opinion of his, take it for what it's worth. Carefoot didn't say "I think Artosis is a dick and if you don't you're a dick too" so I'm not sure why people care so much. As far as not letting it go, he was asked to explain why he said Artosis is a dick, can't really fault him for giving people what they asked for.

IdrA is not "weird" at all., Listen to him on podcasts, casting, w/e. He's a really nice, really normal guy and I have a lot of respect for him. He's a little introverted but there's nothing weird about him, he's not a social retard.
