Hey,
I just figured that some of you guys out there uses Windows 7, so heres the color fix for Starcraft. Its just a simple program. So here you go.
MOD EDIT: Put that in color.cmd in your Starcraft directory. Use it to run Starcraft.
@ECHO OFF taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe > NUL StarCraft.exe choice /N /T 2 /C 7 /D 7 > NUL start /B explorer.exe
Edit: I dont know if it "works" perfectly, since im on ubuntu. But its better than nothing i guess. Enjoy <3
edit: i got this source from gosugamers.net , should have added that first sry. source: http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft/news/11197-starcraft-windows-7-color-fix

Files selected for scanning: C\LarJarsE\desktop\SC_ColorFix_v1.1.rar; No infection was found during this scan.
I haven't tried it, but its clean with the most updated AVG anti.
EDIT: It also supports Windows VISTA

Btw what also works is if you open your screen resolution screen and leave it open while playing the game. Just right click anywhere on the desktop and choose screen resolution.

Do not select compatibility mode though. After doing this I haven't had any problems. If you want to run in a window though you have to uncheck all the boxes.

great guys for editing all this.

great job for starting such an original thread

nice was looking for a way to fix the colours.
on a side note: anyone else than me having a problem with Win7 and BW freezing completely (sound still works, but you aren't allowed to do anything so a reboot is in order)?

This happened to me. I fixed it by playing around with the compatibility settings (like the poster above mentioned).

Do not link to a website based around making starcraft hacks.
On another note, the same solution to this problem was posted before in a couple of previous threads.
|
I noticed the lockups only occur when I'm using *any* media player while playing (guessing it's a sound conflict). Window mode seemed to fix it. But yeah windowed (even maximized) kinda sucks to play in.

Nigol you have been warned for supporting hacks / hackers before as far as I know. And banned for being a shitty poster. Don't link to gamethreads from here please.
Here is the program, no magic happening, just restarts explorer:
@ECHO OFF taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe > NUL StarCraft.exe choice /N /T 2 /C 7 /D 7 > NUL start /B explorer.exe
Doesn't work with Iccup and probably messes up your system a bit (although I don't use Windows7 so I can't confirm this). But hey, I guess most users of this fix will use the conveniently included Oblivion launcher plugin anyway.

Thanks will try that :D

I saw this thread when it was made, and it was the first time I was able to see the SC colors again. Couldn't say thanks coz of the ban, so here it is now. None of the cheap tricks worked for me (opening screen resolution page?? nigga plz)
So thank you for this one.

Managed to stop the "sound freeze and reboot" issue by changing the game to run on Windows 98.

That sort of happens when you shut down your explorer!... Sheessh

I've always lived with it... this seems too much like a brute force method, and even though the colors are piss ugly outside of game, in game there aren't any real problems.

After trying pretty much everything to fix my colors I realized that just alt-tabbing out and going back in does the trick every time on Vista.
|
how is this news.. we've known for months that killing explorer makes the colors OK. This isn't even the first batch file posted to kill explorer, start starcraft then start explorer again when it exits D:

Same thing here. My solutions:
1) Dual boot XP
2) If you want to try on W7 only thing that works for me is:
a) start up iccup launcher in WMode b) tick [x2] c) lower your screen resolution until the wmode covers it all. When the actual game starts I've got pseudo full screen with the windowed SC fitting perfectly. I've got Wide Dell 22" I set the res to 1280x1024. It works perfect for me.

Yes, yes he is right.
|
Yeah if you have issues with the taskbar going away open up any file folder, type cmd at the top, and then type "start /B explorer.exe"... I had this problem :/
|
o.o i fixed it by running the game in windows 97 mode and opening the screen resolution window
|
A friend of mine said he only needs to close the sidebar and it works, no need to close explorer. I cannot test though, no win7 here.

I had this problem for the first time today and lost two games TT For me it was winamp that caused it. Once I switched to wmp sc stopped freezing.

How are you gonna hit start if explorer is closed? There is no taskbar

Why the hell would you necro this thread? Is this problem relevant again? In fact, now that I think of it, why was this thread in general in the first place, and not in either BW general or tech support?
|
Wow this works much better than the blizzard one which was not very consistent. Thanks!
|
i've tried all the ones on tl but none fixed, will try when i get home.
TL once belonged to bw. now bw is pushed away to little corner
