Wow, what a deal. Bought mine at a store half a year ago for about 40$.
|
Rofl I was just about to make a thread with an almost identical title
|
Holy crap, that is inexpensive o_0.
I remember another sale for it but it was 20$ then, now it's alot less.
|
Dang, just bought mine for $20 about a week ago. Ah well, it's not that much. Haven't gotten mine yet but can't wait!
|
Damn... I just bought a much crappier mouse for the same price
|
Where's fakesteve to hype this up?!

Thanks for the tip, but I keep getting an internal server error when I try to buy it :-/

WHY THE FUCK DOES WOOT HATE ME?
I have been waiting for them to put razer mouses back up for like two months. Ever since I missed the last salmosa. During the last wootoff I missed the Lachesis because for the two hours I left my computer it came up. Now just 5 days after I bought mine from Buy.com (20$ with free shipping) this happens?
But on the bright side, I somehow bought two mouses and even more interestingly only got charged for one.

I was going to get this when it was on buy.com, but forgot. So this is a perfect time for me to get it.

lol i was wondering why it was a "1337" price, and then i realised it was 13.37
|
guys this is a great price. also i bought mine from woot.com for more and it's probably been one of the best mice i've used. it squeaked a little at first but now it's super smooth.
|
that's great... if you live in the us
|
Ah, I wish I could access my bank account so I know if I can spend the money =(
I've always been against "gaming mice," but for $20 w/ shipping for this quality mouse it seems like a great deal. I just tried my roommate's Salmosa and it's gotta be one of the smoothest mice I've ever handled. Click is nice and solid too like the optical mini.
I have terrible buyer's indecision =P I already got an optical mini.

Already buying DA tomorow, anyway, great deal for such a mouse, I suggest everyone to get one if you haven't already ;]

How good is this mouse compare to DeathAdder? DeathAdder was awful for me. It felt like a fat microsoft mouse with really hard clicks and the laser polling was too flaky.

I disagree.
I recommend that you read this mouse guide for a good article on mice, mouse pads, and mouse technique.
You may find that any old mouse works for you personally, but I'm confident that myself and many other players have found improvement in their game by changing either their mouse, mouse pad, or mouse sensitivity. Technique should go without saying.

High amounts of dpi does not equal a good mouse.

Crap it's over already? Guess I just realized woot was a one day thing.
|
Just got my mouse from buy.com, and I just had a few questions about it. First, I got the Asian version (with Nada on the front and korean everywhere), is it smaller than the American version? That's what I've heard and I just was wondering. Secondly, what is the drawback to using 1800 dpi versus using 800 dpi? More computer processing or something (does a mouse even affect a computer much)? People talk about dpi as if it's so important, so I am wondering why there is even an option for a lower dpi since you can change sensitivity in the driver and seems everyone likes a higher dpi anyways. Same question for the polling, what are the drawbacks for 1000 vs 125 or 500? I'm not sure what settings I should put for my mouse right now.
Thanks Liking the mouse so far hehe

I got two, starting to get sick of the mouse that came with the computer. No idea if I'll love it, but it can't be worse that what I have.

Woot apparently, is about 1 day deals only. So I pretty sure you've missed it.

lol today's woot is the perfect pull-up. I think it's too late for the mouse.
sorry to hijack a bit- I bought 2 salmosa's, but atm i use my crappy stock mouse on my desk. I don't wanna kill the feet on the salmosas, the stock mouse is already as good as dead. Should I get a mousepad for my new 1337 mice? If so, what kind?

idk if this version is bigger or smaller than another version of it sorry :/ but it has nada!
I use 1800 when browsing around/playing poker just because its easier/less movement/faster. I use 800 when playing sc for better control. Put it on 1000 hz, its a faster response time plain and simple as far as i know.

The feet on the salmosa are pretty good so idk if you'll mess them up, but yeah you should def have a mousepad regardless.

Thats nice razer, after making me pay like 70 bucks or something for my copperhead :/ Btw I still havent figured out whats the best DPI and Polling rate so I just keep it at max ... any suggestions ?

Anybody else get theirs? I got mine today, and gotta say I'm not noticing TOO much. But its definitely smooth and in no way worse than my old one, so I'll give it some more time to grow on me.
|
YO I just got it and it has nada's face on the front of the box LOL Pretty nice mouse, very small for me to get a good grip (unlike diamonback) By the way at this point I don't think we should be talking about dpi anymore. Can anyone actually tell the difference with recent mice? -_-
EDit: Not to mention theres no side buttons (WTF?). Honestly I don't think im gonna use it, who the fuck doesnt use side buttons? This is like digressing back to a Mac
|
got mine just now. the manual and driver is in korean and nada's face was on cover so i was quite amused. i haven't sc'd on it yet but used to use a logitech mini and there are already noticeable differences.
the one thing i really liked about the mini was its short usb cable (i use a laptop so its convenient to have a shorter cord). razer once again goes overboard with its 500000 ft cable (i used to have a copperhead). i guess that benefits desktop users but it is sort of annoying for me.
as for the pros of the salmosa, there are many. first off, it looks absolutely sick. matte black with none of the gay flashy lights that we see in some of the other razer mice. it is also substantially lighter than the logitech mini and also slides easier on my mousepad (steelpad s&s) with its teflon feet. and this is after i put on teflon strips on my mini so the difference between the mini and the salmosa is very noticeable. the software lets you customize it a lot so pretty convenient (i can finally have a high sensitivity for touchpad and low one for mouse). the buttons are huge and the manual dpi/polling rate change buttons on the bottom are cool and don't get in the way. unfortunately i don't really have an idea of what dpi/polling rate does so until someone explains it to me i'll leave them at max. i really like this mouse so far and will soon take it for a run at SC and an intense game of solitaire.
for those complaining that there's no side buttons... did you not read the descriptions or look at the pictures? the mouse is made to be simple (like the logitech mini) and is an amazing bargain at ~$14 +shipping. i highly suggest people to pick one up next time there's a deal.
edit: just noticed this while i was typing. the mouse is so smooth on my mousepad that when i let go it tends to slide to the side depending on the formation of the cord. so if i placed it in a position where the cord was flexed to the side then the mouse would move to releave the flex on the cord. not much of a negative nor a positive but shows how smooth the movements of the mouse actually are.

Just got the salmosa yesterday and iCCup'd a bit with it. Initial first impression: it is a very nice, solid mouse. Feels good in the hand, tight control. if you are coming from a LMO you may find the shape a bit strange, although I think it will be a great sc mouse once I get used to that. Also, there is a more substantial "click" on the salmosa, which I am not sure if i appreciate or not.
All in all, great mouse for 15 bucks, recommended
|
I was between the salmosa and the deathadder, but here the only version of the salmosa is the small one and that was too small for me. Got the deathadder, loving it so far.

Use mouse gestures for navigating the internet: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12 (for firefox)
|
+1 for the mouse gestures. One-- you can do so much more than you can with just the side buttons (back, forward, new duplicate tab, close tab, next tab, previous tab, etc.). Two-- people think you're a G for drawing pictures to input commands.
|
I just got mine. I thought the Nada picture was awesome, but what wasn't awesome was when i opened the box and found out the manual was in korean. Doesn't matter though, the mouse and driver software work just fine.

And my mouse squeaks every so often as well. Not every click, but kinda weird when it happens.
Mouse gestures seems kinda unnecessary for me. I never browsed w/ the side buttons, i just use keyboard/mouse just fine. I can see where the Salmosa is lacking in overall comfort though. It's not really a leisure mouse.
|
Mine came yesterday. Just to make sure, even though Nada is on the box, we don't have the small version do we? I think we have the normal version, though I'd appreciate it if someone more knowledgeable can confirm this.
My mouse squeaks as well

Holy crap just came today. As soon as I saw the box, I was excited. The box is black and in top left corner it has a picture of Nada and a paragraph explaining how much he likes it. It came with the mouse and a booklet with a CD.
I have a quick question. I plugged it in and after a couple of seconds it started to work. However, do I need to install any additional drivers, because I do not have a DVD drive currently installed on my computer. Are they completely necessary and if they are, can someone link to a online mirror?
Thanks, I'm off to play a game with this new awesome mouse. I've never had a "real" mouse before, and I'm excited.

You do not NEED to install drivers, but it is highly recommended. If you don't install the Razer drivers, you'll just be using your mouse like a regular mouse. Razer's drivers give you fancy customization options (more precise sensitivity, change button mappings, etc). Here is Razer's Salmosa support page:

I just turned the DPI and polling rate (I think that's what it's called) switches to max on the bottom of the mouse. They were on the lowest settings by default. After that, it worked well enough for me.

Has this happened to anyone? How can I fix this? If it's squeaking, then it's defective. I had a squeaking Razer Salmosa, which I returned because the right click button was harder to press compared to the left click. I got the Salmosa again and it didn't have that problem.

Yes, I've tried it on Windows 7 64-bit and so far it seems to work fine although I haven't played with the customizations of the software too much yet to see if something just looks like it is working but it isn't really working. I am 99% sure that it is working 100% though.

Just a few things:
- I got this mouse during the last Woot.com sale for $20 + shipping - My mouse buttons squeak a little too, might contact Razer to see about a replacement - This is definitely NOT the Asian smaller version. I'd say this was either packaged wrong or is leftovers of the initial Asian version that was larger like the North American version until they realized they needed to make a smaller one for the Asians. Hence, the reason why the manual is in Korean and it is CHEAP! - I'm having a hard time figuring out the best settings as I posted in another Salmosa thread. - Oversky's mouse tutorial (posted earlier in this thread) is VERY helpful in understanding mouse control as it related to RTS and why too high sensitivity can actually be a negative thing. - This little game can be very useful when comparing mice and a quick way to figure out a rough sensitivity setting that works for you. If you find yourself misclicking a lot with this game then you know something is wrong because the blocks are so big and you can adjust the sensitivity quickly using the Razer software to see what improves your time. I'd do an average of your time over 5 runs or something for each sensitivity comparison that you make.
