people picking stork over backho need to look up TLPD stats 1st. Blackho almost ALWAYS beat stork. ALL THE TIME.
Im going to have to go with JD, Backho, Hwasin and Leta. Hopefully JD vs Flash will fulfill anticipation. I almost hope Flash wins (even though I like JD better) just so that they can both advance into the Ro8.

Flash > Jaedong BackHo < Stork Bisu < Hwasin (only because of the other awesome Outsider game between the two, but I do want Bisu in this OSL) Leta > Canata
Predicting: Flash > Jaedong: Flash has not been doing against Jaedong in his last few games, and I think he really needs to prove his TvZ, especially after his last embarrassing loss. After his game this morning + Show Spoiler +
with FBH
, I think he'll be even more pumped to practice for this match.
BackHo > Stork Just because.
Bisu > Hwasin I can't see him losing again, even though Hwasin has been playing extremely well.

What an epic round of games this is going to be. Flash has a lot to prove tonight, and I think he has it in him.
I just want to say though, I love you Team Liquid! This is such a great community, and there is nothing like following great games like these along with you.

Edit: answered above. Re-edit: To clarify, one player needs to go 3-0 while the others go 1-2. The remaining 1-2 players will do RR cycles until one player goes 2-0. (Theoretically, a 2-0 player who is already clinched could purposely lose his final game to affect who would advance.)
Flash > Jaedong- No "Special" build this time for Flash. Flash has shown he can play against Jaedong Since this is a basic coin toss, I'm siding with Flash. Why not?
BackHo > Stork- BackHo, much to my despair, has somehow manage to pull wins against hot PvPer Kal and Flash in Proleague and conveniently spite my FPL team. With Stork looking like he can't win against anyone and somehow losing to type-b (who did play well though) despite massacring so much overlords that type-b had a 170/80 supply, Stork will lose this one.
Bisu > Hwasin- Crazy things have happened and with the red-hot Hwasin stacked up against his mortal enemy and S-rank player Bisu, this match looks to be a good one. However, Hwasin's subpar TvP record looks to be his demise. Bisu will win this one.
Leta < Canata- Canata will drag this TvT in vintage Canata Style. The TvT will span for 1+ hours, making half of the crowd sleep. Leta will be so bored he'll move his BCs to Canata's and watch them die just to End the agony.

Actually Stork is 5-4 against Backho all-time
lol that makes me look like a total jackass
don't worry about it. I understood that your point was that Backho does better at PvP vs Stork than most of the other protoss players. Still, imo Stork will win this
Expecting Flash to win on a standard map like ROTK. He can 1 rax CC (Which hopefully he does, no mech please Flash) and I think he'll have the advantage over any 2 hatch muta thing Jaedong throws at him.

You should expect Jaedong to go 3 hatch muta if Flash doesn't mech

Jaedong should expect early strategic play from Flash since he'd been practicing nonstop TvP for the Khan match to try and keep his team in playoff contention.

He said in the interview that he practiced TvP on Medusa, anticipating JangBi or Stork.

Flash himself said in the interview he was intended to play ace against Khan tosses, not TvT/TvZ. He also said he practiced a lot for his first game. He was practicing TvP destination and TvP Medusa, so it seems there would be less time for TvZ on Rotk.

Jaedong does not cry. Unless its tears of victory. If he loses he just puts on the rape face.
kinda expected this. as usual, flash vs jaedong games are always rape from the winner. only a couple of there games are really close. Sad for flash... Well, lets just settle with MSL then.
So stupid from Flash. If you're going to come up with a dumb ass strat, at least make it entertaining for the viewer. Your 1 rax CC play against 2 hatch muta has gotten so good Flash, and you insist on the dumbest build ever that you can't even execute. T_T.
What needs to happen for a tiebreaker? Or is Flash done for good?

It's not impossible. He needs JD > Yarnc (likely), and Effort > Yarnc (dicier, around 50/50 probably), as well as Flash > Effort of course.

Almost certainly, unless he loses to Yarnc, Yarnc loses to Effort, AND Flash loses to Effort. Even then, he gets a tiebreaker against Yarnc and Effort.
So yeah, in other words, JD is pretty much 99% in RO8.

Jaedong needs to beat Yarnc, Flash needs to beat Effort, and Effort needs to beat Yarnc. Then Flash needs to beat both Effort and Yarnc in the tiebreaker.

efforts MUST win against yarnc, jaedong MUST win against yarnc, Flash MUST win against effort. Only way for a tiebreaker.
For Flash to have even a chance to advance Effort has to beat Yarnc tomorrow and then he has to beat Effort and Yarnc lose to Jaedong... Then 3 players would be 1:2...
well jaedong should have no problem with yarnc, unless he lets yarnc win so flash is out for sure, but Im sure jd wont do that. I hope effort beats yarnc. And I think Flash can beat effort in a must win situation.
in other words. Flash fans should cheer for effort tomorrow!
On July 01 2009 18:56 hk2717 wrote: I think Jaedong already qualified to Ro8?
not yet. If effort >flash, effort > yarnc and yarnc > JD, there's going to be a tiebreaker
And then he'd have to lose to yarnc and effort again since flash would be out 0-3, 2 spots go. For all those game results to happen especially yarnc > JD twice is supremely unlikely. While Jaedong may not technically be in yet, he's basically a lock to the next round.

MAYBE (and this is a big maybe) Flash figures out all the timings on this build eventually and it turns into a solid one. It took him awhile to get the anti-Carrier Goliath build down after all.
But, it's looking like too little too late for this OSL. I'd say JD > Yarnc is 80%, Effort > Yarnc is 55%, and Flash > Effort is 40% (I give Flash 40% and not less because ironically, Effort is the one Zerg player whose style gets countered the best by this new build ...). If it got to a tiebreaker, I'd put Flash at 40%.
Obviously these are just arbitrary numbers, but no matter how you look at it, I think it's fair to say Flash has less than a 10% chance of advancing =/
As much as I cringe to bring it up, in some ways it seems that Flash's new build has become his "new 14CC". IF he survives early game, he has a huge advantage (if he had somehow held against JD, even with a CC lift, his advantage would have been enormous). But, it's SO hard to survive the early game, especially when opponents are looking for it, that it just isn't worth it. It's not quite as bad as 9 pool versus 14 CC but a 2 Hatch variant versus the new Flash build is close.
I really hope this doesn't turn into the equivalent of the "Flash strat TvP", where it rolls mediocre Zergs every time but can't beat elite ones....
I'm quite surprised so many people thought Flash would beat Jaedong. One even commented that Flash was "stronger" at the moment.
Jaedong has broken the 2300 ELO limit again, and he's soaring towards a new record pretty quickly if he continues to win like this. I know it's early days yet, but if Jaedong wins this OSL and claims the golden mouse, he'll be an even stronger candidate for the greatest player of all time label.
Battle now in Backho's nat. Stork comes out on top. Backho now contained in his main. Goons in Backho's main. Reaver is out to ddeend though but stork is way ahead. Reaver defending well
Backho pulls probes to defend. Reaver taken out. Backho is pretty much dead.
Stork now walking into backho's main with goons. Probes pulled again. Lots of probes dying. No reaver out yet. Backho defends again with a lot of probe losses. And more goons enter his main. Reaver out again at last. This time stork retreats and waits for reinforcements. Stork keeping his units on top of Backho's ramp
Stork moves in with his goons and snipe another reaver! But a reavers repop for backho just in time! 3 goons versus the reaver now, gets snipped again, GG!
I think BackHo could have held if he made a shield battery, reavers are impossible to kill with those things ;p EDIT: Crap, beaten to the punch by mere seconds.

He kinda typed out too late. Stork dealt a big blow to his economy with the manner pylons, the early zeal that got 2 kills and the number of probes killed by goons not to mention all the reavers Stork sniped.
The sad thing is. on any normal ramped map, Backho's build would've been sufficient to defend Stork's 4 gate. Goon/reaver upramp is a bitch to break.

If Yarnc wins vs Effort it would be: Jaedong 2-0 Yarnc 2-0 Flash 1-2 Effort 0-3 here the winner of Jaedong vs Yarnc advances as #1, the loser as #2
If Yarnc loses vs Effort it would be: Jaedong 2-0 Yarnc 1-1 Effort 1-2 Flash 1-2 here if Yarnc wins vs Jaedong he advances as #1 and Jaedong as #2 if Jaedong wins he advances as #1 and there is a three way tie between Yarnc, Effort and Flash.
Really late scout for Bisu. Nothing non-standard so far though. Both players scout correct directions. Bisu has a zeal to block ramp. Probably to hide something...
HWASIN SNEAKS 3 VULTS INTO BISU'S MAIN LAYING MINES EVERYWHERE. GOON OUT NOW. MORE GOONS AT HWASIN'S NAT. HWASIN WALLS IN AND HAS TANKS TO DEFEND WHILE HARASSING BISU WITH VULTS.
Bisu is safe now. And so is Hwasin. Reaver in shuttle out now.
Bisu loses some goons to mines in his base. bringing up reaver to harass now. Hwasin pulls his tanks. Fail scarab. 2ndscarab does some damage. BIsu trying to break in still. Reaver getting lots of kills... bisu has goons in Hwasins main. they die. Bisu taking his nat now. Getting citadel.
I dont know what the hell is going on, in recent games Hwasin almost always go all-in ...and this all-in versus Bisu is just the worst of it all. I think even Bisu fell sorry for Hwasin, Bisu won even without a fight....T_T
What's the big surprise. We have two greats playing in this round - Jaedong and Bisu. It's no surprise at all that they win. I hope Jaedong and Bisu face each other with best of 5 sets in the later rounds - it will be like Federer-Nadal, though it's hard to say who is who.
Tonight proves to me that Flash isn't on the same plateau as Bisu and JD at their best
He consistently smashes 2nd-tier progamers but can't consistently hang with the top tier. I mean he didn't just lose, he looked totally lost vs JD. He's sort of the Terran ambassador to the Bisu-JD club because they can't send anyone better.

Canata has a Dship out now. Would suck if it were intercepted by wraiths. Leta has his own 4 tanks and vults harassing Leta's nat but not doing too much damage
Vulture harass leta's third, they were only 2 scvs. Leta starts his fourth, and a dropship comes to deal with canata's vult, mines are layed but with awesome micro leta saves a tank by putting it back in a dropship! Canat'as wraith kills leta dropship, and canata drops two tanks, leta counters with vults.
Sad day for every Flash fan as his chances arenow at best very slim...
Flash needs to improve his early gameplay. Whenever he plays top players these days he gets behind (or loses) and that leads to those epic games like against FBH, Leta or Hwasin in the last OSL.
I also miss Flash playing simple strategies. Why can't he go bio anymore?
23 wins - 4 losses (85.19%) the record of jaedong in the last 2 month jaedong is so taking this osl only one to stop him is maybe bisu but if he gets to a bo5 jaedong all the way !!!!!!!!1 golden mouse !!!!

Probably the best game today, followed by Bisu vs Hwasin
Good to hear! Just watched Bisu-Hwasin and Flash-JD...how could Hwasin think that a 2fac would work given that Bisu put his 2nd nex at his backdoor expo? There's just no way to break a ramp with 8 goons on it...Hwasin couldn't plant a single useful mine from that position.
As for Flash-JD, it was pretty disappointing. JD's muta micro was awesome as usual, but Flash was set pretty far behind by that utter failure of a bunker rush. Perfectly played by JD.

Last time, it was pointed out that you can't do that in OSL or GOM booths because of the way the glass is.

Last time, it was pointed out that you can't do that in OSL or GOM booths because of the way the glass is.
Is it only one-sided toward the audience then? Because in the video, there was a part where you could see Leta in his booth from inside Canata's booth.

Man, see at 1:31 How they cant see the audience? Now i see this OSL affirmation is false.
