baller lineup notice. Ace won't last any games. sigh
|
O.o Samsung going in with their guns blazing.
Calm vs Mind. Nice. iloveoov should win. Luxury vs Bisu-->KTF coach fail.
Woah I just realized this starts one hour earlier than usual, sweet.
|
what does WL stand for? winners league? winter league?
|
Interesting to see some teams go with the mediocre player they hope will win the first game and draw out an Ace player, so they can then snipe. While other teams are just going for the all-kill attempt straight up.
|
Is there any reason the games on the 17th are listed as having RH3 instead of tau?

Thanks for the lineups!

go oov! Hope he can win a game or two

Can someone explain how this works?
What I'm talking about is.. Can a team select a player from ANYONE on their roster or only a selected list they have already turned in (which I assume is how you gathered the first player matchups)?

48 hours before the game starts coaches submit a list of players that may play in the game. i assume everyone that shows up to the game is legible to play in that game.

HOLY SHIT ILOVEOOV. Didn't see that one coming.
Wow, these line ups are enough to psych anyone up for winners league, haha.
|
OMG, I'm getting way more excited about this than I should be. Can't wait for an all-kill event.
|
iloveoov is gonna all kill ace!

I've already got 2 people from my fantasy team starting off :D

Reach fans please don't get excited ... it's just going to be pitiful rape all over again. Now Oov fans on teh other hand ... there's some cause for excitement there. Can he all-kill ACE?
|
|
Interesting how some teams took a modest approach sending an "ok" player out first in an attempt to avoid snipage while others sent the big man on campus out right away.
|

Oh man haha that would be supremely awesome.
I'm interested to see how Memory and GuemChi do in particular, as I recall it's been a while since we've seen them hasn't it?
|
Haha, love the KTF coach's decisionmaking there. Luxury vs Bisu is going to be downright painful. If he was going to throw out a sacrificial lamb on Medusa, he could at least have chosen someone useless. Even if Luxury somehow won, he'd just have to deal with probable Fantasy mech on Destination...
I'm pretty happy about how the ACE-T1 match turned out, though. Either we get to see iloveoov win or ACE avoids being allkilled, not to mention the possibility of an epic Casy vs oov match on RH3.
I hope Reach cheeses Stork or something 9-9 gate manlots? I don't want to sit and watch Stork win or even play in four games in a row, ugh.
Either way, I'm really excited. It's going to be so disappointing when they go back to regular Proleague after this.

Reach...I fucking believe.
GO REACH.
Stork's got nothing on the Mantoss...
|
Wow, looks like T1 wants to use Ace for practice and trying to get Oov back in the groove of things. I'm surprised Khan isn't doing the same thing, like putting Frozean in there to get him some wins and build some confidence. It's going to be painful to see Stork all-kill Ace, starting with Reach.
The KTF vs Khan is going to be awesome. After Jangbi rapes 815, the next 3 maps are all fairly terran favored and Flash will come out. It will be interesting to see how well Khan can prepare for him on the subsequent maps.
|
This is going to be awesome.
And yeah, KTF coach phail... lux vs bisu, lol. But hey.. you never know (cough OSL cough)

oov powa. I predict an all-kill on ACE to open the season. Boxer has been feeding him Rages weaknesses and... o who am I kidding. He doesn't need Boxer's help :p

On January 15 2009 13:56 Avidkeystamper wrote: Luxury vs Bisu-->KTF coach fail.
Not at all, this is probably the first intelligent decision the KTF coach has made in a long time.
Think about it. Flash was winning on Medusa because he was using the only viable build and now that Bisu has proven he can counter it, sending a terran out would be suicide. Luxury is the only player KTF has that is capable of taking a game off of Bisu on that map and Flash can win on a less imbalanced map in the likely event that he SKT takes the first set.
While you could say that putting up a throwaway player on Medusa might be a better decision, it was far better than putting up Flash. That more than anything else would have been KTF fail.
|
I am surprised OGN send go.go as the lineup opener. I thought he was a cheesing fag best used as a sniper.
I think that by week 3 all teams are going to send an average player against the other teams average player both with an all-in strat with the mind of "if he wins, good, if not, whatever", making it basically a coin-toss to see who gets to snipe first.

awesome lineups. SKT are pretty serious about the match vs KTF, I can see a possible all-kill

I had iloveoov on my R2 fantasy team and he never played a game. Now he leads off in the WL. Bah!

tossgirl will probably never go first. she might snipe someone, at most.
OOV? totally unexpected. 4-0

HOLY FUCK OOV 2009 is definitely going to be the year of the Gorilla as well. The entire Broodwar scene is going to watch in awe as waves of tanks send Ace and Starcraft back to the dark ages of 2004 imbalance.
Seriously, I'm so pumped up for this all-kill format, it's going to make bw so exciting while we wait for Gom to come to an end and OSL/MSL to power up.

omg!!! Oov!!!!!!!!!!!! It's because of this matchup I have decided to replace my upcoming fantasy team of Horang2 (blah, who needs this newcomer when we got Oov???) with iloveoov!!!!!!!!! I BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL~~ Oov opening vs Ace. That is so mean. I hope Casy snipes him then Best all kills Ace - -;;

iloveoov for all kill!
I really like the look of this winner's league, I think it will offer some very good games
|
Looks like most teams just want to play "wait and see who he sends out". Let's make with the snipers!
|
haha i bet lineups will be much easier to post this round
and it seems like every team is saving their best players for later in the matches... which makes you realize how strong samsung is, sending out jangbi TEAMLIQUID#1PLAYER out in the first match
|
Go Jangbi, for the (all-)kill! Also lol @ Guemchi, I picked him as a 1-pointer before the lineups and there is such a pleasant surprise
|
There won't be single all-kill during this round.
You heard it here first.

I see Samsung/Lecaf/SKT1 Being incredibly strong on this with up to 3~ players that can possibly all kill every other team

Lux cannot catch a break, damn. What race did they expect SKfuckingT to play on Medusa?
|
You guys don't seem to realize that reach is new to being on the ace team and is not used to having so little practice. He'll be doing quite a bit better before we know it and you can feel free to quote me on this if he continues being bad for more than 2-3 months.

Do not read if you don't know the results of MSL Group A: + Show Spoiler +I was going to reply to this by saying "there's no way Lux wins this unless Bisu starts slumping as hard as he was during that Proleague playoff," which at the time I didn't think was terribly likely, but wow. Losing to hero on a new map can be excused. Intentionally putting yourself into a group with three Zerg and being eliminated with the help of none other than Savior... If Lux wins this game, it could be as bad for Bisu's career as FBH was for Savior's. In any case, at least now there's a storyline that will make the game fun to watch!

While you could say that putting up a throwaway player on Medusa might be a better decision, it was far better than putting up Flash. That more than anything else would have been KTF fail. Oh, burning Flash on Medusa vs T1 would be absolutely braindead. I agree that this isn't the worst choice the coach could have made. But KTF is a team with one good player and one borderline one. Playing either of them on Medusa against the player with the best record in the world on that map (and anyone with a brain could predict that T1 would open with Bisu there) doesn't seem smart.
I think the best decision would have been to save them both for Andromeda, where they both have excellent records. Lux is 6-1 vs P there with wins over Best and Stork and would have a great shot against either a tired Bisu or Best/Fantasy/any T1 Z if Bisu dropped the first set and KTF lost the second. Lux would then have a reasonable chance on Tau and KTF would have Flash in reserve for Chupung-Colosseum-Harmony. KTF is a one-and-a-half-man team right now, and until their other players start producing they should think like one if they want to win matches.

Yes Im sure his bench/deadlift/squat numbers are alot high than Casy and Anytime...but thats not exactly related to starcraft.

OOV!!!!
cheater terran will all-kill in a an awesome fashion and people will soon start crying terran imba again

Haha, both Reach and iloveoov are the opening players in their respective games, should be fun to watch.

FUCK YEAH ILOVEOOV BACK IN ACTION
Man I've been waiting so long for this, I finally feel like a real skt1 fan again.
|
Luxury vs Bisu o_O - Luxury might actually win because of Bisu's recent form. GOGO KTF
|
Despite Mind's incredible performance in GOM, I think Calm has some serious all-kill potential this week. Even if not, this format will allow teams with a deeper lineup to thrive. I expect STX to close the gap up to Lecaf and probably put a little ground between them and Sparkyz. STX FTW!!!

I wouldn't even put him in Top 6 on the team. Reah is just bad nowadays. Has been for a while. At least OversKy/Anytime/Casy/MuMyung/DaezanG compete and win games. Reach does neither.

Is this an extra event or it's prototpye that will replace old Pro League?
Thanks and sorry for newbiness.

It's a part of Proleague.
The Proleague season 08-09 consists of 5 rounds. Round 1,2,4,5 are "normal" Proleague style and round 3 is winner's league.
