backho starts pylon at his nat and scouts in the wrong direction, so he'll find july last. july's overlord is going in the wrong direction as well. july 12 hatch at his nat. backho starts forge, and scouts with that probe as well, and he sees july's 12 hatch.

backho has expo started. july hasn't even scouted, but he starts a 3rd hatch at his 2nd nat. 1 cannon and gateway coming for backho.

8 lings out for july. 2 chasing backho's ling in his main while the rest run to backho's nat. but backho has 2 cannons so july retreats. july also starts a 4th hatch at his nat. extractor coming for him. backho has core coming. probe still getting scouting in july's main.

hydraden started at july's 2nd nat. backho sends another probe to scout july's nat but he doesn't see any tech there. probe goes down to the 2nd nat and he sees a hydra. 4 hatch hydra for july. stargate and robotics warping in for backho and another 2 cannons at his nat.

corsair out harassing overlords. lair coming for july. 5th cannon started for backho now. robotics support as well. 5th cannon cancelled after his corsair scouts lair. july has hydras at backho's nat taking out the stray gateway that isn't covered by cannons. hydra speed is up for july.

backho drops probe at island. july sees it with his overlord. quite a number of corsairs out for backho. about 6. july with evo and spire coming. backho starting cannons in his main. backho drops reaver at july's nat, but july escapes with all his drones intact. he tries to scourge the corsairs, but i don't think many of them hit. expo at island coming up for backho. he's got a couple of gates in his main as well. corsairs still taking out stray overlords. july adding another hatch at his nat.

july does a drop on backho's island expo, and he takes it out easy as backho's corsairs are out of position. backho drops dts into july's main, and takes out the overlords there with his corsairs. but july has overlord speed up already. so he defends easy. backho now trying to expo to 9 2nd nat. some zeal/temp out for him. but his harass is not going very well.

july attacks backho's 9 2ndnat attempt and backho will be forced to cancel. oh. he doesn't and it dies shortly after it warps in. in the meantime backho tries to harass with reaver at july's nat. he takes out a couple of drones, then loses the shuttle carelessly. july has macroed a huge hydra army, and he's attacking backho's nat now. but cannon/reaver/speedzeal turns him away. backho trying to get some overlord kills with his corsairs. but hydras everywhere. july has taken 6 nat.

Seems like hes not doing much with the corsairs at all, keeps on missing the ovies and he lost 2 shuttles in the last two minutes.

another drop at july's nat, it kills a few drone, then shuttle and reaver gets shot down by scourge. july tries another attack with mass hydra at backho's nat but he retreats after seeing the mass zeal with cannon and templar support. backho now moves out with his zeal/temp army, and he catches july afk with his hydras and 2 storms kill 24 hydras. july has many lurkers out though, so that zeal army isn't going to deal much damage. many hydras for july as well.

backho moves his army through his 2nd nat and attacks july's nat. july brings back lurkers and engages with his lurker hydra army, and although backho does some good storm on the clumped up lurkers, his army cannot take out july's much larger army. backho ggs after losing his army at the nat.

Well that was a pretty poor display from both parties in terms of micro (hydastorms ftw or ftl? heh). Still, July won.

They must have glitched. But still bad not to be there directly and micro, since hydras NEED TO BE MACROED.
He let about 30 hydra die before he even moved one.

KTF protoss scouts after starting gateway in main. nada rax in main, scouts after rax. standard so far. core for toss, 2nd depot in main for nada.

KTF protoss' scout probe is chased away by marines in nada's main. nada 1 fac, and some scvs taken off gas, so we'll probably be seeing a 1 fac build. and he starts CC in main after 2 rines and a machineshop. toss 1gate range, robotics started.

2 goon for the KTF protoss tries to get some marine kills at nada's ramp. but they're forced to retreat after nada's tank appears. KTF protoss going reavers. nada going to expo with mines to defend. ebay coming for him and 2nd fac. not sure if his turrets will be in time for the reaver.

shuttle moving out with reaver. nexus started at KTF protoss nat as well. nada has turrets up at both bases. 2 zealots and reaver in the shuttle. 3 rines killed so far. and 1 tank damaged. 2 tank 2 vult following the shuttle around now. and nada is starting 2 more fac for 4. KTF toss tried to move into nada's nat with 4 goon and ob to clear mines, but nada had 2 tanks there and he was forced to retreat after losing a goon. 2nd nat up for toss as well. +2 gate for 4 and citadel.

shuttle still flying around. but besides those 3 kills it has done 0 damage. nada's army is getting pretty big now. academy up for him, 2 scanners coming and nada moves out with his tank/vult army. nice timing there. toss has just 8 goons and his shuttle reaver/zealot. nada setting up at the 2nd nat of toss with mines tanks and turrets and it will go down easy.

2nd nat goes down for toss. he has 2 reavers in a shuttle but he fails to do any damage with them. KTF toss now trying to take 12 main. he has about a group of zeal and a group of goon. 2 shuttles as well. speed done. nada's 2nd nat is up. and he's adding 2 armories now. also scouts the 12 base with a vulture.

12 base is up but has no probes. toss walls it in with pylons to prevent vult harass. he's got about 2.5 groups of zealots now. he may be able to break the push. lucky zealot bomb for him takes out 3-4 tanks, but nada returns with vults and some tanks and forces toss to retreat.

Both are playing quite sloppily, especially NaDa's multitask seems to be very sub-par...and Violet's macro starts to kick in.

He still can't break that push so he'll be dried up because of his main soon...he has to do something.

nada has 7 fac and is still trying to deal damage at the 12 base. his contain is weaker now but still consists of 6 tanks and some mines. double armory upgrades for him, starport just started, as well as an expo at 6 main. toss has to break the contain soon though, as his main is about to run out. he has about 2 groups of goons and a group of zealots. shuttle for zealot bombing.

If I were Violet I would have tried to break through when NaDa brought ALL of his vults to the 12 expo and left only tanks and mines at his push.
Violet throws everything to the contain and looses most of his force, now it's pretty much over.

nada's 6 base is done. but he really should have more facs for the number of bases he's running. nada finally breaks through at the 12 base with mass vult and he will take down all the probes there. violet going to try and break the contain again with 1.5 group of goon and 1.5 group of zealots. (retreated the first time after losing all his zealots.) he fails to do significant damage to nada's units. and he GGs.

i'd say the double expo by violet was a bit silly. his reavers did 0 damage, despite it being a reaver before expo build, and he still tried to double expo. naturally when nada moved out with his 4 fac army, he easily had more units than violet who just got his expos and 4 gates up.

I don't think so, since people with only one opponent (e.g. BackHo) often have multiple bars. It's unlikely they would have played the same opponent multiple times and no one else of that race. I'll look at another screenshot and see if I can't figure it out.

He also missed the weak spots NaDa had in his base, he could have sniped a few more SCVs, or could have pressed his initial first drop a bit more after raping those 3 marines in one shot. Imo, that is. He was focused on multitasking his gates up and expoing, he's not Bisu afterall

july has about 12 lings with speed. he runs into nada's nat, but sees a bunker so he retreats. 3rd rax and ebay coming for nada. spire for july.

4th hatch for july started at his nat. spire is almost done. nada moving out with his marine medic army now. july is going to have to sunken up 2 bases. factory for nada started. he gets a sunken at both his nat and his mineral only. mutas out for him already.

july makes a mistake with muta micro, flies them over nada's marines in the centre of the map, and he gets them injured. think he loses 2 of them as well. he's adding more mutas, and taking top left gas base. turrets are up at nada's nat and main. july tries a mutaling attack on nada's mm army in the centre but nadas rines hold. july doesn't lose mutas though, just lings.

about 2 group of marine medic moving out for nada. he's got 5 rax. he tries to attack july's lurk/ling army, but july takes out his attack with a good ling surround + lurkers. july with many hatches and a pretty decent army and 3 gas. looking pretty good for july. he's keeping nada in his main. i'd expect hive tech to be coming soon. and it is.

july moves in to engage but his lurkers are badly positioned, so he unburrows immediately and retreats, losing lings and 3 lurkers in the process. hive out for him though, so he'll just keep delaying till his defilers are out. july has taken 6 base as well. trying very unsuccessfully to scourge nada's vessels. defiler mound out for him and greater spire coming. he has 3 left over mutas.

nada starting a 2nd starport in his main. sending some marine medic to take out 6 while he starts his mineral only and bottom right. defilers out for july and consume is done. nada irradiates the defilers before they can get close to his army of tank/marine/medic in the centre.

nada's tanks are nicely spread out, and the swarm pushes just can't take them out. and his lurkers keep getting irradiated as well. july retreats back to the highground area above his mineral only, regroups, then tries to take out nada's army. in july's FPview we see 4 lurker get raped by marine micro. 2port vessel and 8 rax marine medic for nada. 12 base just got taken out by nada.

nada has taken 6 base but it looks like it'll go down now. but nada saves it with marine medic. july keeps trying to take out nada's tanks in the centre, but they're nicely spread and every swarm reachses only 1 tank. limited success for july who loses yet another army trying to take down the tank/rinemedic force of nada. now nada getting aggressive with his units.

2 group of marine medic supported by 8 vessel and some 6 tanks move across to july's side of the map, and july does not have defilers. tries his best to stop the attack with hydra lurk, but he fails vs so many tanks and matrix. july GGs.

Nada started the game very weak and July should have won that game if he didnt waste his big army like that in the beginning.
July had 4 base
Nada had 2 base
Julys army was greater, and if he had waited so he could surround he would have taken that game easily.. but its so typical july to kill his opponents units in every battle and then just lose

ODT will start after the OSC finishes and the fourth seed is determined. the OSC still has the playoffs to go through by the way.

i'd say nada was behind for the most part of the mid game after he lost his army to july's lurk ling. july had a 3rd gas, and 4 mineral bases, a pretty big lurker ling army, and hive tech coming. nada was only 2 base with his main and nat. then nada pushed out, and instead of getting aggressive and trying to take out 1 of july's gases with his army, he just set up in the centre with nicely spread out tanks, while he took 2 expos behind his tank/rine/med defense, and stopped july from taking other gases. with his marine medic, which could easily return to assist his tanks if they were threatened by july's swarm pushes. finally when he had whittled down july's army significantly, and having built up a huge vessel/marinemedic/tank army with good upgrades himself, he just attacked and july couldn't stop it.

I agree. July kept on loosing units carelessly, wasting his gas on scourge, gua that didn't do a thing, etc. while NaDa kept his cool and slowly worked his way back into the game. Very well played from him despite the early disadvantage, also scary micro (his macro wasn't perfect, but it was still very good).

DTs would be a bad choice, cause backho has ob coming soon. but if he does a 3-4 gate speed zeal attack. he might be able to catch violet offguard.

templar archives coming for backho as well as robotics. looks like a DT drop. violet has observatory and is getting a citadel. both players very passive. archives for violet as well, and + 2gate for 4. backho still with only 2 gates. cannoning his mineral lines. shuttle moving out for backho now. looks like ht/dt. or 2ht/2dt. violet seems to have seen it or is psychic. he prepares his goons for drop. shuttle is turned away. +4 gate for backho for 6. violet also cannoning his mineral lines now. ht drop at violet's nat, but it doesn't kill any probes.

BackHo screws a one dt one HT drop majorly, losing it all and barely killing a few probes. Violet counters as soon as his own first 2 DTs and HTs are out ,heading for BackHo with a 4 GW pumped major force (BackHo was on 2 GW just recently added another 4).

violet starting cannons at top left, going to take that as well. backho moving through mid with zeal/temp/dragoon. but violet's army looks like it'll be able to take it out. backho takes bottom right as well. violet moving towards 12, but backs off. 8 gates for him. 2 forges up grading. backho with +3 warping in for 9.

both players with pretty big armies, but refusing to engage. violet's DA feedbacks 3 hts of backho's army and they all go down. nicely done by violet there. maybe we'll see more DA usage in future, cause this pvp is going to be decided by unit composition/upgrades/and storm.

That DA proved to be very useful...that -3 HT decided the ensuing big battle in Violet's favor, just barely (he got reinforcement zeals just in time, he would have lost everything otherwise, especially if he didn't feedback those 3 temps before).

the 2 armies engage. and it ends evenly. both players losing basically their whole army. violet taking 12 base and securing it with cannons though. if he's successful he'll be ahead in the long run. the DA of violet has 4 kills. both players just running around with huge armies again now. they engage again. some good storms by violet and he forces backho to retreat, but he doesn't push the attack. they engage again after regrouping and reinforcing, and this time violet comes out significantly ahead, but once again, he retreats.

Violet's 4 hero zealot drop kills like 7 units from BackHo as he's carelessly sending them in one by one  .

Next huge battle BackHo RAPES Violet's forces and proceeds on razing the 12 expo, evening out the odds (having a significant advantage now imo, he really devastated Violet's whole army while sustaining like 3 ctrl units himself).

violet has 12 base up so he's just content with sitting and letting his 1 base advantage reap some rewards. another huge engagement now. strangely violet loses the battle, and his 12 base falls. not looking good for violet. he just lost a number of probes. now backho goes for 6 which violet was in the process of cannoning up and takes that out. backho's army significantly bigger than violet's now though.

Another major clash ends out pretty even, BackHo got it a bit better due to his latter reinforcements. Quite even game now.

the armies engage again, and both lose everything. now both have armies roaming around again. and they're huge armies. main and nat for both players out. backho has taken the 6 base. and violet is trying to take 12. armies engage again. storm everywhere. backho chases violet away with his army, and then moves up to 12. violet moves down to 6 and tries to take down the nexus there. and he kills it, losing the remnants of his army (a few zealots) in the process. backho has a huge zeal/archon/temp/goon army and he's retaking 6. violet has just 1.5 group of zealots and a couple of templar. this looks over.

violet storms the shit out of all of backho's probes at 6 with a storm drop. backho goes for violet's top left expo and he'll take it down easy. 6 archons in backho's army, and violetl ooks low on gas as his army is mainly zealot. its not looking good for violet. his army is smaller and the army composition is weak. they confront again. lots of storm, but backho outnumbers violet easy, and archons > zealots. backho wins that battle convincingly and violet ggs.

the battle in which backho defeated violet's army convincingly was shown in backho's FPview, so we'll never know why violet had so few units at that point, when he had successfully turned backho's army back a few times before that.

I think Violet trying to get cute with DT's was a big mistake as they were clearly to no tactical advantage and they were using up a lot of gas that could have been better spent elsewhere.
He was winning the battles until he started to throw dark templars into the mix without first getting rid of hardly any of BackHo's observers.

and i'm going to go with backho this game. july kinda got "lucky" on the zodiac game where he managed to drop backho's island expo with his drop cause backho's corsairs were out of position. but you can say that was backho's fault for having his corsairs poorly positioned to defend from drop.

pylon at nat for backho. july's overlord is going straight for backho. seems all pros do that. july places an out-of-position hatch at his nat because backho's probe was being annoying. 12hatch 11pool for him. backho nex before forge. scouted by july's overlord. 2nd pylon before forge as well. july starts 3rd hatch.

gateway and cannon at his nat for backho. assimilator warping in. 2 lings out for july. taking top left base and starting his gas. core coming for backho.

stargate for backho. july getting hydra den which is scouted by backho's probe. probe also scouts the top left base. i don't know how these pros do it. how did he know it was top left base, and not 2 main. robotics and +2 cannons for 3 at the nat of backho. this is playing out like last game.

about a group of hydras moving in to attack backho now. backho pulls probes to defend. 2 cannons warp in in time for 5, and backho will be fine. he'll lose his forge though. reaver will be out from his robotics soon and he has 6 cannons at his nat.

july hits with his hydras just before 2 of the 6 cannons warp in. takes out the cannons. nice timing by july there. just 5 seconds late and he'll be fighting 2 additional cannons and a reaver. backho doesn't even try microing his reaver against the hydras. just ggs with a reaver vs 5 hydras and more coming from july's 4 hatches.

Wow, such a zerg heavy MSL, I bet Bisu's gonna steam roll them again. Hopefully we get better maps then Blue Storm this season however (my sentiments simply because Bisu lost).

Wat are you talking about? Blue storm is a lovely map that produces beautiful games. It provides for relatively easy movement, expoing, and flanking movement for the zerg, but the far natural expo somewhat makes up for it. And it also makes up for all the terran favored maps of the past. I hope to see it continued in the map pools of the future, because Blue Storm isn't one of those gay turtling/island expo maps where games can go on forever without a single battle.

I like the map, but I was just saying from a Bisu perspective Blue Storm could be hellish for another season if there ends up being a lot of PvZ's. I like Blue Storm for its against the grain design that still works. Though PvT slow pushes can be annoying as hell because at times it feels like the T can spread himself across the entire map. I hope we see more of such creativity, maybe in the form of a 3/4 player map next season.
