both players standard. hiya rax and refinery. hasn't scouted yet, fac started. stork core coming, scouts after pylon in the wrong direction, and has been forced out of hiya's main by a marine.

stork with range coming. still 1 gate. hiya scouts after his fac is done stork has goon on ramp, so he won't be getting into stork's main. robotics facility started in stork's main. 2nd gate as well.

typical FD build for hiya. 6 rines and 1 tank out, machineshop researching something. moving out with his force now. stork has 2 goons on his ramp. and observatory coming. 3 goons now.stork moves up his ramp. hiya tries to push his rine/tank up stork's ramp, but stork defends easy with his goons and ob. rine/tank attack dead, hiya defending with just mines. stork in hiya's nat now. double expoing in the meantime. hiya with siegemode up so he pushes the goons away.

omg, that attack was sheer beauty. Stork runs into the natural with 8 goons, distracts the gollies, drops reaver / zeal on top of the ramp-tanks. CC is forced to float.

stork's double expo is up. and he has added a robotics support for reavers. adding 3 gates for a total of 5. shuttle moves out to hiya's main with 2 zealot and a reaver. hiya has goliaths out already. stork moves his goons in at hiya's nat while he drops the defending tanks with hi reaver/zealot. and he takes out the defending units easily. stork forces hiya to float his nat, and defend at his ramp with new tanks and scvs. reaver takes out many SCVs, and stork escapes with 4 goons still intact. now 8 gates for stork, and citadel. this game looks quite over. 4 facs for hiya and low SCV count.

i'd say that was his only opportunity to do damage. if he waited anymore, his lack of SCV would start showing in his unit count. stork's 8 gateway and 3 base economy would easily outproduce him. of course he could opt with just turtle + vult harass and try taking an island. but maybe he knows that its unlikely to beat stork after being put so far behind, so he didn't bother trying that.

After Stork forces the lift with his great shuttle/goon attack Hiya has nothing but bad options. He can't turtle because he's being outmacroed 3 base to 2. He can't attack because he's already outmassed and has no window.

ruby now adding 2 raxes for 5. queens nest started for luxury. his 2 base is up, and he's got sunkens there to prevent drop. scourge patrolling around as well. now tank/vessel breaking out of the lurker contain of luxury. 5 lurkers retreating, hive tech coming. luxury has a total of about 8 lurkers, with more coming, vs 2 tanks and 2 group of marine medic of ruby.

vessel out for ruby, makes lux pull out his lurkers infront of his base. 3rd base up and running for lux. ruby starting his 3rd cc. minor engangement in middle happening. lux sneaks past and goes for main, but instead comes back, kills tanks and forces ruby back to his base.

huge attack by luxury on ruby's units. doesn't look like he lost many lurkers there, and he took out the marine medic army of ruby. looking good for luxury who has defilers coming and 3 gas to support his hive tech. about 10 lurkers for him, defiler mound up. 2 evo. and he's taking the 9 main.

ruby is taking his 2nd nat now. loses a vessel randomly to scourge. luxury trying to delay with his lurkers vs the army of ruby. defilers out for him, and he engages with his defiler/lurker, taking out a good portion of ruby's army. ruby is unable to do damage to any of luxury's expos. luxury has ultra den up now. and +2 carapace +1 melee. he does a swarm attack into ruby's 2nd nat, and forces him to float. in the meantime the main army of ruby attacks luxury's nat, but ultraling looks like it'll hold. but ruby comes down with more reinforcements now, and he's rampaging in luxury's nat. it'll go down. more and more units for ruby coming to luxury's main.

luxury's defiler mound goes down. he's trying to defend with sunkens and a couple of ultralisks in his main, but they don't work very well vs 2.5 groups of marine medic. oh. amazingly, luxury holds in his main, but another marine medic army is coming down, and this will likely finish things up. he's got a swarm delaying on his ramp though. ruby has taken the 9 2nd nat in the meantime, so his minerals wouldn't try up too quickly. ruby's marine medic takes down the hive/pool/ultralisk den of luxury. ruby is forced to float his only expo to a ling raid.

if only he spread out his tech more maybe. He had a great chance to win it if he had a couple defilers even after he lost his nat. Ruby had no running bases and a defiler could easily deny it.

luxury loses the 2 nat to a marine medic raid, but he defends 2 main with ultralings. he has rebuilt his ultralisk cavern and his pool at his 2 main. ruby has taken the island expo. and reestablished his 9 2nd nat. he has about 3 group of marine medic in his main army and they engage luxury's ultralisks and take them out, while irradiated science vessels take out luxury's drones at the 2 base. luxury GGs.

i'd say the ultra switch is what cost luxury the game. ruby hit in that small window of opportunity when luxury was getting the ultras, and managed to do a tonne of damage to him. also luxury forgetting defilers was quite a silly mistake. swarm would've helped him defend easily.

Luxury must have thought he was further ahead than he was and stubbornly refused to make defilers after the ultra den popped. One lonely defiler would have halted Ruby's attack on the nat and won the game for Lux.

Luxury actually could have won the game, his early/mid game control was fabulous, but what lost him the game was the transition to ultra, which he kinda stopped getting lurkers and lings as you can see, also i felt that he could have build 1-2 more hatch at his main, he should have minerals. Also after all his defilers died at his nat, he just concentrate on getting ultras and lings without defilers, hoping to kill/chase the terran off, and obviously didnt work. Lux needs to work on his late game management i guess.

stork at 8

stork starts pylon and gateway at choke, narrowing it slightly. scouts after pylon, and steals ruby's gas. almost gets an SCV as well. but ruby repairs it. stork lets his assimilator warp in. and he's doing some crazy harassment on the rax building SCV. stork gets an scv with his probe, but loses it to a marine. zealot moving down ruby's main, and stork starts an expo. 3 marines for ruby, stork retreats. ruby's refinery is just started. he stops mining gas and starts his nat before his factory.

fac started for ruby. 2nd gate and core spinning for stork. 2 fac for ruby. stork's zealots at his choke prevented ruby's SCV from entering his main, so he has no idea what stork is getting.

stork starting a 2nd stargate and a fleetbeacon. ruby going up to about 8 fac now. i'd say its not looking good for stork. the carriers will be late, and he'slosing his army. to mass vult now. more vults and tanks coming down for ruby and stork loses yet another few crucial goons to vults. fpview of ruby shows that he has quite a scary number of tank/vult. he has also taken bottom right expo. 2 carriers out for stork now. ruby should really be attacking instead of holding in the middle of the map. once stork gets too many carriers he's fucked. stork taking 12. has an army of about 8 goon and 1.5 group of zealot.

ruby is taking 6 base in the meantime. stork's army is small compared to ruby's. stork denying the expo attempt at 6 with his carriers. 4 carriers out for him now. using them to snipe at ruby's land units, but he has many gol so stork is forced to retreat. adding a 4th stargate now. and a 2nd core. 5 carriers for stork. all the waiting is not doing good for ruby at all. stork at his nat harassing now.

ruby forced to transfer his SCVs away from his nat. now carrier + stork's land army engages the huge land army of ruby. he loses all his zealots, and escapes with about a group of goon. but ruby's numbers have dwindled quite a bit, and he is forced to retreat as he loses all his goliath. now pushing in mid again after reinforcing with goliaths. 4 stargate for stork flashing. and his carriers are now taking out the turrets at the 6 base. about 2 groups of goliath come for ruby and they force stork to retreat. ruby's army still looking pretty dangerous. stork once again at 6, and ruby has to pull his goliaths back there to defend again. stork's bases looking dangerously low on mineral, and ruby is denying his expo at 12 very well.

now ruby moving out with a huge gol/tank army. tanks are caught in the open with support, so he loses a few of them before he gets them to the cover of his goliath. about 3 group of goliath and 5 tanks moving down for ruby. hitting stork's mineral only. not looking good for stork. but he's trying to hold with DTs. stork's mineral only goes down, but so does the nat of ruby. another group of carriers taking out the 6 base of ruby. stork in the main of ruby taking out factories. ruby getting cloaked wraiths. army in stork's main now. taking out everything. he loses all his factories in the meantime, and mass DTs are reducing his army size. tank at the top left expo takes down all the probes/cannons there, but stork has 12 base up.

very intense game here. but i think ruby will take it. although stork's carrier count looks pretty good. goliath army moving toward the 12 base of stork. cloaked wraiths take out his obs and are now attacking his carriers. luckily for stork he has started cannons there, but he loses all his carriers before the wraiths go down. hahahaha. now ruby is starting mass raxes at his bottom base while stork warps in 2 gateways at his 12 base. academy blinking. stork GGs.

luxury waits for more mutas before moving in. ling sneak attack on hiya's nat while th emarines move to the main to defend against muta harass. takes out 1 turret. but its rebuilt. now marine medic at both the nat and main of hiya. and the mutas are unable to find holes to harass. has killed a couple of marines so far. luxury adding continuously adding mutas. this looks like it might play out like light vs jaedong on fantasy.

don't really think hiya should've moved out so early. maybe built up a more sizable force at his main before attacking. or wait for his +1 weapons to kick in (if it hadn't already). he was doing fine at the start preventing any major harass from the 2hatch muta build, but when he moved out, both his defending mm army, and the army that he moved out with could've been easily taken apart by luxury's growing muta force.

Hiya did split up his army at an unfortunate time. Lux hit critical mass of muta where single control group of mm just melts without doing anything.

stork kinda had it early game, but he screwed up trying to be overly aggressive multiple times, and losing his entire army. then ruby could've crushed stork's army with his huge tank/vult army, but he waited until stork's carriers were out, and when stork's harass began he was forced to defend with his goliaths, giving stork time to rebuild his land army. but later stork lost his army in a poor attack on ruby's tanks. his unit composition was quite poor as well. mass zeal with few goon, instead of mass goon with few high templar.

stork pylon at his nat and scouts after pylon. interesting to note that luxury's first overlord went toward the 7 base first, rather than 12. luxury 11pool 10 gas. stork will start his nexus first.

Stork made 4 stargates w/carriers pumping. I'm assuming he had 0 gas and plenty of excess minerals and thats why we saw all those zeals. I agree, that a few HT's and cutting down on carrier just slightly might've been a good idea, but what the hell do I know. He's the best PvT in the world.

first 4 lings out moving towards stork's nat, but the cannon will be up just in time. the lings turn away. stork starts gateway to block off his cannons. luxury double expos to his nat and bottom right. assimilator for stork. he's worried about speedling all in so he's leaving probes amongst his cannons about 12 lings for luxury. stork starts core. more lings coming for luxury. about 16 now. and still more lings. 2 zealots and 2 cannons defending for stork. stargate and citadel warping. about 24 lings now. stork not adding a 3rd cannon. 30 lings run in. the cannons will go down. stork pulls probes.

How do you know if it's an all-in though, if all you see is about 6 speedlings? Lingspeed doesn't cost him much... plus who would actually get 4 cannons unless they predicted hydras.

I think stork was waiting for his corsair to appear so that he could scout, coz luxury was denying stork info so well at his nat ( as in not letting his probe go out), thus the all-in ling worked.
Stork didnt really expect a all-in ling since its kinda uncommon aside from hydra-all in.
he thought bisu build > zerg, apparently not.
But still it is luxury who won the game, not stork who lost it.

Well, I think most of us knew Ruby was good, as for myself I've been impressed with some of his games lately, but the reason why not so many people voted for him is because Stork got an amazing PvT and Luxury just as good ZvT, so it should have been pretty unlikely for Ruby to pull two 'upsets'. Yet, he did, and he did it well too.

Luxury plays a lot like Jaedong. Does Yellow[arnc] have a similar style? I have not seen many of the twins' games.
