In times of yore, a certain game was brought into this world.

Twenty five years ago, esport was non-existent, professional players were unheard of, and streaming of grand events resembled a mere figment of imagination. This splendid pastime set the course and established the groundwork to the competitive gaming we presently recognize. What would be our present state in its absence? Thankfully, this is a rhetorical question as the game has been in our midst for a quarter of a century and, owing to its ingenuity, it persists in evolving and creating new styles.

StarCraft is like true love: sometimes you have a hard time, fight, scream, feel hate and anger, sometimes you have doubts, even break up, delete all the files and clean your hard drive, sometimes you even find a slutty replacement (like LoL); but in the end, you always find who the real love is. After an extended period of evolution and maturity, you come to recognize that exterior factors such as flashy graphics, catchy music, or the latest trends hold less importance than the intrinsic value of a game's community. In the end, you understand you can't live without each other and are grateful for every day you spend together. This passion has given birth to a large community that treasures this game so much, that giving up time, energy, and money to make it better, warmer, and more memorable, is out of the question.

I'm honored to count myself among you, and I couldn't be happier to share the news of this fantastic anniversary of our allegiance to this magnificent game!

I don't think that's mathematically possible, as you can get at most 2225 points from winning all 25 tournaments.

Yeah I remember playing a lot of Thai people on iCCup, but I don't know how big the community is because of the fracturing that happened when Remastered came out

Yeah mappool is pretty bad tbh ;; Using only new maps + sparkle for such tournament is strange imo. It would be great if we could mix - some old map(Tau cross instead of Winter Solstice cuz this remake is sux :D) and CB instead of Lights Out.
The rest remakes is fine so my "wishlist" mappool for this would be
1. Sand Storm (Remake of Blue Storm)
2. Tau Cross
3. Third Impact (Remake of Longinus)
4. Neo Luna (Remake of Luna)
5. Circuit Breakers
6. Neo Rush Hour (Remake of Rush Hour)
7. Sparkle

Anyway nice tour and HYPE!

1. Sand Storm
2 Sylphid
3 Taucross
4 Vermeer
5 Circuit Breaker
6 Odd-Eye / Bloody Ridge / ( Blitz X ) as long as some map maker update the minerals to modern standards.
7 Polypoid / Gladiator / Retro

Picking a Map pool for a 25 th anniversary and all the maps are remakes makes no sense. What nostalgia you bringing to anyone ? I picked Sand Storm cuz is proly the best one of the remakes and more faithful to the original.

Mb im missing some map but overall that is a very nice MP for a tourney.

what don't you like about lights out? it's been updated a few times so maybe the map makers can work on a more polished version, for me the main base ramps leading to the nat is a bit weird, the center highground area was huge but that was recently reduced

tau cross isn't balanced, zvp is insane there, super wide 3rd and if ur 4th is next to z main u can't take it (lurks can harass it from their main) and have to expand on the other side of the map, very hard to progress to lategame on it

hmm

All classic maps remade. More or less. Nothing purely new about them, just tweaks.

Great stuff, imo. Nice mapmaking showcase too.

With risk of being controversial, Retro is a better modernization of Luna than Neo Luna.

Also, Sparkle for Vermeer would instantly make the map pool better.

Also, also, this is going to be cool regardless of map pool.

I mean, Fighting Spirit was arguably a modernization of Luna.

This is great news! As always my heart will want to join these tournaments and give the gosus a tough game or two, but my mind will probably lead me astray. Nevertheless, this will help keep the scene alive so thank you!

Hello guys,

We decided to implement a few changes into the announced event. I hope you will all love them!
1. We will update the map pool, by eliminating the map, which is unupdateable + add bonus map challenge.
2. We will extend qualifications phase by adding THREE Ladder Stages on ShieldBattery where you can earn BSL 2023 Points by practicing on ThaiLANd maps!

I. MAP POOL

1. (Wiki)Third Impact will be replaced with (Wiki)Champion (Challenger remake)
2. The moment we will reach $10 000 goal, we will switch (Wiki)Sparkle into (Wiki)Paranoid Android XXL

Map pool after update:
1. (Wiki)Sand Storm (Remake of Blue Storm)
2. (Wiki)Champion (Remake of Challenger)
3. (Wiki)Winter Solstice (Remake of Tau Cross)
4. (Wiki)Neo Rush Hour (Remake of Rush Hour)
5. (Wiki)Lights Out (Remake of Circuit Breakers)
6. (Wiki)Neo Luna (Remake of Luna)
7. (Wiki)Sparkle (Most balanced island map)

II. BSL 2023 Points
We decided to add an extra way to gain BSL 2023 Points. Beside winning points in 25x Qualifier Tournaments, you will be able to win them for being active on ShieldBattery.

We will have three months of ladder with map pool of Bombastic 25th Anniversary LAN:
  • 01.07 - 31.07 - Bombastic 25th Anniversary LAN - July
  • 01.08 - 31.08 - Bombastic 25th Anniversary LAN - August
  • 01.09 - 24.09 - Bombastic 25th Anniversary LAN - September

Each month TOP10 players will win extra BSL 2023 Points:
1st - 150 Points
2nd - 130 Points
3rd - 110 Points
4th - 90 Points
5th - 70 Points
6th - 50 Points
7th - 40 Points
8th - 30 Points
9th - 20 Points
10th - 10 Points

That gives 700 extra points each month, 2100 extra points total. Which is ~20% extra points to earn for the active players: ~10 000 points in Qualifier Tournaments and 2100 points in SB Ladder Stages.

I will create a new post regarding qualifiers next week, where I will add links to sign up for each tournament as well as for the each month league on ShieldBattery.

I hope you like the changes, stay tuned!

ZZZero you shaping this to be a great tourney. Now lets change Neo Luna for Retro and We actually have a really solid map pool. And we could make it even better by changing Sparkle for La campanella the new ASL map. Think about it instead of that Rush hour remake please.

It's up to the organizers to decide the map pool as much as it is for a player to decide to enter the tournament.

That said... Good thing you changed the map pool. You need maps from the current ladder pool and/or whatever the Korean pros are playing on right now (next ASL maps) and maybe 2 odd maps, if you want to interest the top foreigners and see quality games. The top player base is so small - and they'll be eachothers' competitors - it's almost impossible to get solid practice on maps that aren't used anywhere else (even if they aren't odd).

I'm a big fan of the odd maps, but the reality is that the best way for a foreigner to improve is grind ladder all day and thus they comparatively suck at odd maps. Actually the same is true for pros. We saw that with 76 recently in ASL (and Neo Arkanoid before that). The majority of ASL players just ended up vetoing 76. In general players seem quite clueless how to play odd maps. They need a certain rule set they can follow and stick to for their mechanics, one they already know. They don't want to invent a new way, because it takes too much time or too much effort. The time of players like Boxer is long gone. Being creative, cheesy if you will, is no longer beneficial unless you're Shine.

Please don't try too hard to please eOn as he will complain about the map pool regardless lol

Well there is always group of foreigners who will complain about the maps - you can't please everyone, as there are three different races.

The map change was made because map maker of Third Impact was inactive to make necessary changes to balance and polish the map. Exchanging Sparkle plan was there from the very beginning

Regarding choosing ladder maps - I always try to involve at least 3 maps from ladder in BSL - but BSL ladder is shorter, here we will have 3 months of ladder on SB on THIS TOUR MAP POOL - so for those who will want to practice, they will have a chance to do it. That's the exact reason we added ladder stages on SB - to give you a good place to practice on those maps.

Jaedong in Thailand ?

If Jaedong actually agree to go there that will be super insane. Hopefully they invite some others progamers also so the winner will not be clear by Jaedong smashing foreigners.

Btw i thought ZZZero said it was a non korean tournament. I guess he forgot to type in the memo that they were trying to invite progamers too. But good decision. This can give so much hype to the tourney now and mb help to get more prizepool.

I believe non-kor rules are only for online qualifications.

It's a bit confusing for sure. OP also made me think this is a non-kor tournament.

Anyway. What happens to invited players? Where will they start in the bracket? Inviting Major league players, like JD, will be injecting unfair competition lol. But getting to meet him in Thailand would be a nice consolation I guess. Also top 8 getting flight & accommodation covered is super nice. It's like a free BW vacation if you're good enough.

Even if the KR pros smash everyone, it would be so good for the scene in general to have them come and join in. It's a special offline event, I think most people would love for them to come.

Inviting Koreans to participate in competitions outside of the BSL online competition is exciting. They will definitely bring more highlights to this offline competition.

Also, may I ask if the travel and accommodation expenses for this offline competition are borne by everyone alone?

The top 8 players from the qualification stage get their expenses paid. Everybody else that wants to come has to do so on their own dime.
