It's like something suddenly clicked when he lost 0-3 to mini in the KSL and he came back with a vengeance and has become undoubtedly the 2nd best player after flash. A TvT finals will make me sad. that being said i think effort stands a decent chance for an upset! | ||

What? EffOrts third was 100% dead if he didn't kill the army with mutas. Without a third EffOrt was 100% dead. He had a build order loss, AlphaGo had perfect reactions to everything up until that one point. Once LaSt lost that army he was in a really awful position, it gave EffOrt the 4th gas which gave him the win at the end of the game. It was that paired with the lurker drop that bought him time. | ||

Oh my god I'm so happy to see effort finally make it to the finals, i can't believe it. From watching the vant league I've been waiting for effort to show brilliance in ASL and it's been crushing to watch him go out in the ro16 and ro24 every season, I'm just so glad to see him make it to the finalm with some god damn genius strats too | ||

If I was rooting for any other player, I'd wish for the easiest bracket for them to win. But in Effort's case, I wouldn't have had it any other way - Rain, Last, then probably Flash. | ||

Pretty amazing series in general. 2 players on eye level, although I think Effort is just a bit better than Last atm. I wish he would have done one more standard game. G3 was great! | ||

JD have been screwing the follow-up up. He still has his killer instinct. Like vs Flash in the group stages, he twice did to Flash whta no other Zerg is doing. But the second time he screwed up the follow-up even though he was miles ahead. In game 4 Effort had 1 or 2 chances to break Last or put him severely behind, but botched them. Btw what i tried to say is, apart from game 4 Effort looked like JD with the killer instinct, and ALSO had crazy lategame and macro mechanics, which I never think JD had. JD was ever only maybe top 3 or 4 in that regard, imo. | ||

More credit to Flash rather than knocking JD down for doing a bad play because the original plan was dumb. Great plan but Flash denied him. | ||

Am I the only one who thoughts the series was ok? Game 5 was the most impressive out of all of them, mostly with the burrow play. Last should've anticipated that EffOrt would try to pull him out with the zerglings, and had a better defense at the front, but the burrow play would've given him headaches regardless. His multitasking failed him hard too though that's partly due to EffOrt having nice burrow lings spread in the main, and making him use up scans. This series confirmed to me that Last can play the 1-1-1 really well, especially when he can scout what's going on. This is evident by the fact that he blocked it 2/3 games. The one game he lost was the one where he saw the lings too late, aka at his front, then lost his first vulture and got overwhelmed. Game 3 to me was good at the start until Last got impatient and lost his army outside EffOrt's third. He was too eager to go up that ramp, understandably so, but the game was EffOrt's from that point on, especially seeing that Last's SK Terran control is terrible, and that the lurker drop really denied mining for a while. Then you had times where Last would leave his medics apart from his marines, and he got them picked off for free, or the time where he dropped the fourth and sat in a swarm losing his units to several lings. Or what about the third base? Decides to build a third, but doesn't even have any marines or anything on the high ground to at least spot or try to intercept so he loses it right before it finishes. Suffice to say, Last's play in game 3 was full of holes and terrible past x minutes so it's no wonder that someone like EffOrt creamed him in that game. Congrats to EffOrt for winning the series, but Last had problems in his games. No one is saying it was easy, but from my perspective, Last was not prepared at all and flattered in that game after he lost that first army. I won't say much more, just rewatch the game and pay attention to Last's army, camera, macro, and movement overall then you'll understand what I mean. | ||

I think you're the only one, games 2 and 5 were so well good played by Effort. For Game 3, Last has a good reason to want to to get into Effort's third before lurkers get there. Later on, perhaps there's a reason why he didn't sit an army at his third to defend it. Perhaps he had to take a risk given how far behind he was and hoped that he could pressure Effort and get something done. If he were to split his army up he might not be able to put an pressure and would've lost anyway. | ||

Man, cant be more happy to be wrong with such great games. What we saw today is surely a huge step to another meta change. Looks like the popular Terran 1-1-1 build, gives free room for zerg to use different tech and experiment too, which lead to such outstanding games. Shuttle old school play with archons, zealot pushes and agression brings back bw to its glory days in my eyes. Shittle revived the Protoss true spirit in PvZ and now Effort brining the flexible low econ zerg from the past. Great days for starcraft guys! Btw thats looking like the Effort who took Flash 3-2 after 0-2 at Korean air OSL finals, havent watched flash vs shuttle but i imagine who is the winner of the series. | ||
