I swear to god if Rain fully commits to Brood War, he has the potential to be truly great, but he always keeps saying he has no interest in doing that. Rain seems to think that there's no future for streamers apart from the household names like Jaedong, or Bisu, since it is these kind of legends that people really want to see performing well. Still, it's a shame to see his supreme talent go to waste since he is literally the only player to have a positive record versus Flash in sponsored matches over the last six months, despite the fact that he is literally goofing around half the time.

Very strong at one match up and has the upper hand versus Flash is not the sign of greatness. Quite inverse he should beat everyone else except Flash to become great.

And letmelose didn't say Rain is truly great, but that he had the potential to be great.

May 2017 - Oct 2017 Rain P vs Flash T 27W 25L 51.9% Sure it's a positive record... by 1.9%. Not sure if ~50% winrate is convincing enough to show "supreme talent", with Flash supposedly "goofing around" on stream just as much as everybody else. But yeah maybe if these were the proleague days Rain could at best be a designated SKT sniper for Flash along with Fantasy, Best, and Bisu.

But yeah maybe if these were the proleague days Rain could at best be a designated SKT sniper for Flash along with Fantasy, Best, and Bisu. It's the only positive record. Further more, Flash is in posession of one of the most competitive spirits I've come across, and Rain's lackadaisical approach to streaming and competing in general has no where near the same level of intensity, or dedication. Many people have already vouched for Rain's notable talent, and perhaps the head-to-head record isn't the best way to prove that, but it is a noteworthy trivia nonetheless. Bisu's record versus Flash in sponsored games during the same time frame: 9W 18L (33.3%) BeSt's record versus Flash in sponsored matches during the same time frame: 23W 29L (44.2%) In fact, there is nobody else who had a win rate above 45% against Flash during the past six months in sponsored matches. There's less than five players who have win rates that go above 40% versus Flash if you count all sponsored matches since May this year. Rain probably would have replaced BeSt as the designated sniper for Flash, and if his form during practice is anything to go by, he might have even surpassed everybody else as the number one ace of SK Telecom T1 in general had professional Brood War not been killed off. Multiple players from SK Telecom T1 have been on the record, saying that Rain was the best SK Telecom T1 player during practice towards the end of professional Brood War. I personally think Rain has what it takes to achieve more as a Brood War player, even if his drive will never allow him to reach his potential cap.

When you watch their games, you see Rain hold timings that are pretty much designed to break his opening. That's something that very few P's can do. Then you see Rain trading evenly with Flash in the late stage, sometimes even when being on the same economy. That's something almost no one is doing. His PvZ is uninspiring, unfortunately.

Rain is the Protoss trendsetter and most well rounded Protoss in the world atm.

It is a lot better than many claim, and it's to his credit for bringing back the modern Sair/DT that Bisu used against Killer. Just because he lost to Larva isn't indicative of much, considering it went all the way to 5 games, and Larva is very strong in both ZvT and ZvP. Rain is the Protoss trendsetter and most well rounded Protoss in the world atm. Rain vs Larva was only 4 games.
