EPTThe problem was just recently, outside of DRTL and the now seemingly dead CRTL there isn't really any teamleagues outside of the proper clanleague set up by iCCUP themselves for people to participate in and that's when I realised I wanted to do something about it. I can't offer a cash prize, but hopefully the incentive to play together as a team, make new allies and new rivalries will be enough to get people to sign up and play together.
The premise:
Most leagues for the community on teamliquid (even in SC2) especially seem to focus a lot on individual rank and individual player names and that's an idea I've never really held to heart. This and this alone gave me the idea to do this. It's all a bit sudden and I only really thought about it last night, but I was thinking about it and toying around with the idea so much it took me ages to go to sleep so hopefully it sounds as coherent as I want it to.
1. In this tournament, ranks are not a thing
There's no rank limit, anyone from any rank at any point in time can play and join any team. The idea is I want as many different people from varying skill levels to play with each other and find enjoyment out of the game in their own way. Having ranks as a buffer just leads to complications and they don't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things. It's all about improving as a player and a team member.
2. A varied map pool
Many leagues have fewer maps to make things easier and many of them use the same maps. I'm not saying this won't have the super standard maps, but I also want to mix up the map pool between "seasons" to get people playing as many different maps as possible. Playing FS and Python 24/7 must get boring some time right?
3. A rather long tournament spanning a months with different "seasons" as it were.
I really want to get the true feeling of comradery going with this and I want teams to stick together for a long time. It won't require your full commitment to play in this but id' be really nice if you could meet some more playing buddies/friends along the way. The seasons will be split up with short breaks in between but I somewhat want this to be a long term thing if I can make it that.
4. Teams names are of those who participated in the 2010-11 Proleague
This is where the Fantasy comes in. I want people to play under the banner of the team they watched and supported in PL. The reason for this is the next point.
5. Players account names will be those of a player from the team they're in to provide anonymity
Player anonymity allows for more interesting games. No longer do you see a name and think of whatever rank they are or who they are. I just want people to be able to play and never thinking about winning or losing, but thinking about improving their own play and their teamplay. Specific strategies can be developed over the season and players can be trained to snipe players, but not straight away. It'll have to develop like it developed in real proleague.
6. Bo7 or Bo5 format
As there'll hopefully be quite a few teams I'm imagining there won't be too many people per team but hopefully if we can get as many people playing each week as possible then I want to, if not we'll make it Bo5.
Now I think that's everything to do with the premise. For now I'll leave the specifics until we get enough sign ups, but one thing you must know for now is that it's of vital importance that you don't tell anyone the ID you'll be using inside the teamleague unless you already know they're in your team!

Now a big issue could arise in that we don't have enough players to fill all the teams and if the worse comes to the worst then I'll have to chop off some teams which is highlly likely, but I'm hoping as there's no rank restrictions and no real reason not to play that we'll get a bunch of sign ups!
