boxer does not need to beat savior, thats a retarded thing to say, boxer has accomplished much more than anyone else in sc progaming, losing 3-0 to savior certainly does not mean that boxer isnt overall the best tvz. oov lost 7-0 to savior before he started winning

Still it didn't seem that boxer had a chance in any of the games, he seemed way to overwhelmed by savior's mass units. Everything was perfect from savior, pure solid zvt

HonestTea while I agree with your evaluation of Savior's play the truth still stands that Boxer did not play well.

First game he chose to rely on his cutsey starport strategy.

Second game he just macroed clumsily

Third game his proxy fact was destroyed, which put him irreperably behind.

I don't want to put down Savior's incredibly play one bit, but at some point you have to look at Boxer's play and acknowledge that he wasn't prepared for what was to come.

Everybody who says that Boxer was worse than usual is in denial.

Boxer didn't play as he usually does because of Savior. This is why Savior is a true master. Regular gosus have good play, and they outplay their opponents.

Era-defining Super gosus, however, not only outplay their opponents, but they dictate the other player's play. Players like Nada and oov in their prime, and currently Savior, have the ability to impose the big picture that they want upon the other player.

Savior, in particular, has such murcurial timing and tech switching that it's hard to see exactly what he does great. This is also because he's a Zerg. With Boxer, Nada, and oov in their prime, us fans could sorta see what they were doing by watching their Build Orders and overall strategy.

Savior, however, has this incredible, shapeless, zerg-like je ne sais quoi. I can't really see what he does every game. All I know is that every game, Savior seems to have just the right amount of expos, from which he produces just the right amount of just the right kind of units to win battles one by one. And this way, he prevents his opponent from executing their game plan.

Boxer, I'm sure, had prepared his own game plans for each map. But Savior has that special ability, the same ability that Boxer once had, to force his opponent to stray from the prepared game plan into unknown territory.

All I want to say is: if it looks like Boxer played exceptionally poorly today, it's only because Savior is that damn good.

From what I've seen of Saviour, he just has a tremendous sense for the game. He contols games so well as you said, and is so good at manipulating his opponent into playing a particular way. It's like he knows and makes them do what he wants them to and the counters them horribly.

He truly is a master.

boxer will freeze up after his 0:3 loss and die to yellow

What do you guys think? Did Savior throw his games against OOv at IEF? OOv just walked over him in both games. This would have been absolutly impossible for Boxer today.

Savior played very strong, but you still can say boxer didn't play as good as he did often, especially rine micro and overall macro. He lost the games because Savior played well, but imho he had them already lost before it was "over", because he did not play good, not as good as we should remember him.
Someday, you’re going to fuck up so magnificently, so ambitiously, so overwhelmingly that the sky will light up and the moons will spin and the gods themselves will shit comets with glee. And I just hope I’m still around to see it.

Your point is imho partly valid. But only partly. To me that was definitely a combination of Savior's flawless play and Boxer's sloppyness. Also Boxer's overall play looked totally uninspired, except maybe in game 1. He can play far better than that, but probably would have still lost today. Not that way though.
