A more detailed introduction of each stage can be found on our Ladder Main Event page.
It has almost been four years since the ICCup Brood War department featured events with monetary incentives. We experienced dire times with the downfall of our scene after the Wings of Liberty Beta, witnessed the chaos, yet survived. This should be celebrated and what better way to show the world we're still there than with a big time event?
ICCup always tried to enable its users to play and compete with the world's best, to promote Brood War and to simply offer the best place to train. We're still very much in favour of all this, hence the ICCup Ladder Main event will start with the next season in a few days. Every player can participate, if you already have an account no further registration is needed. And you don't really have to do anything out of the ordinary either, just go, play, meet new people and have fun — or train and try to achieve whatever you want to achieve.
Once the next season is over, we'll start to sort out the 1on1 ladder. The top #288 will be qualified for our (currently) $750 event — at least for the first of three stages.
• Top #1 — #16: automatically seeded into the Main Event
• Top #17 — #32: automatically seeded into the Shoot-Outs
• Top #33 — #288: automatically seeded into the Qualifiers
The places #49 to #288 of our 1on1 ladder will be randomly put in one of our 16 Man Single Elimination Qualifiers, while the places #33 to #48 will be seeded in different tournaments. The better you score, the more advantages you'll have!
Each survivor of the Qualifiers will face one of the players ranked #17 to #32 in a best of three in the second stage: The Shoot-Outs.
Now, whoever survived the first two stages (Qualifiers & Shoot-Outs) will advance into our Ladder Main Event; a hard 32 Man Double Elimination stage. Ladder ranks #1 to #16 are obviously already seeded, the rest has to fight hard.
The guaranteed prize pool is so far $750 but we're still raising funds and the final pay-out structure most likely follow the distribution below:
$500 to >$1000 • Rank 1 gets 40% of the prizepool • Rank 2 gets 20% of the prizepool • Rank 3 gets 15% of the prizepool • Rank 4 gets 10% of the prizepool • Rank 5 gets 5% of the prizepool • Rank 6 gets 5% of the prizepool
Furthermore, a lottery with the remaining 5% of the prize pool will be held. Every qualified player for the Shoot-Outs is signed up for this system; however the already paid places will be ignored.
Miscellaneous Prizes
• Every player in the Shoot-Outs will be granted a month special icon • Every player in the main event will be granted a season special icon
• The top 3 players with the most games played to qualify will get a special flag • The top 3 players with the least games played to qualify will get a special flag
As you can see there are a lot of things every player can benefit from. It's a major Broodwar event which we doesn't see that often anymore and you can help too to make this event as great and big as just possible. Everyone has the option to make a monetary donation towards the prize pool. Any support, even $10, is highly appreciated!
Donate with PayPal
There are not really new rules for this event. The ladder stage will use the official ladder rules, the tournament rules will follow our tournament set — easy as that. However, the ICCup Brood War administration reserves the right to change certain rules at any time if neccessary. Also, hackers, cheaters, bad manners and other related wrong behaviour will not be tolerated.
Obviously, this event is designed to support any active player. If you have little time, the best thing to support us is to just go on and play. If you have a bit more time, there are many ways to lend a helping hand. Make graphics, spread the word, think about donating to the pool, join the team in any position — we'll gladly help out and are happy to see any friendly face wanting to contribute in one way or another.
The first stages of the tournament will be huge and it will most likely not be possible for us to stream all games. Consequently any caster or streamer will get the opportunity to add his stream to this event, regardless of language, quality or previous experience.
A good event needs coverage and we'll try our best to deliver it to you. We're hoping we can write a small article each week, give you the opportunity to bet on the later stages of the event (via forum or spreadsheet) and also try to reward activity — the most active players, even if they don't qualify, will get gimmicks like fun flags.
Additional infos:
A more detailed introduction of each stage can be found on our Ladder Main Event page. Informations about Maps, Best Of, etc. and any question or concern you may have will take place in the appropiate Event Thread on our Forum. Now, go forth and play!
Remember: This season's high ranks will get a bonus for the upcoming and important next season — the new old system we introduced earlier this summer.
next season, at least that's what I understood. This season's finishes are only 'important' if the players receive a bonus for next season again - e.g. starting with D+ instead of D if they were C or better.
• Players can only qualify one account for the event, • In case a player owns more than one account in the top #288, the next player in line will be moved up.

Now i arleady though of that possibility and backed up the rules panel with this rules as u can see in the static page:
• In case of strong hack suspicion issues during the ladder phase, Admins reserve the right to deny the player to compete in the event.

540$ seems like a solid prize pool! 216$ for first place is not too shabby!

naaah. If everyone would be able to donate that 10 bucks then I think 1000$ barrier would brake easily
Nice maybe we can get it to 1000$! I'll check if my credit card is accepted by Paypal (Although I'm legally an adult I haven't yet gotten a new credit card TT)
I think it was just a decision by the iccup developers, probably because some server-side changes. It has nothing to do with the event and I think it not even has anything to do with broodwar in particular.
On September 08 2013 13:34 Xiphos wrote: So this is going to have a bigger price pool than TLS?
Well the championship has a larger prize pool, but the champions of the TLS3 and this event will still receive the same monetary amount, aka champion - Sziky (So the near-future Sziky who will win the TLS3 and receive 300$ will gain just as much by participating in the TLS3 than the near, but further-future Sziky will by participating and winning this event)
Just with the little difference that TSL don't allow koreans/chinese, but they are allowed to play this event. Let's see if Sziky can really pull this off. I don't think only hackers will come from korea ^^

yeah 288 players. + there are not a single prize for ladder 1 2 3.so this mean not really interest in hardcore ladder.cuz not matter what i will qualify and it doesnt matter the spot ....
i re-read it. and only top 16 goes to main event. Top #1 — #16: automatically seeded into the Main Event
• Top #17 — #32: automatically seeded into the Shoot-Outs
• Top #33 — #288: automatically seeded into the Qualifiers. So how long gonna be this really ?. damm this is so unfair 1 month i can be full shape then next month play like shit

Only the top 16 is directly seeded into the main event, others players have to fight they way to acces it.
The ladder phase will be ongoing for the usual 3 months (this season extra months won't happend againt).
The full event will be held on 2 day (day1 Qualifiers & Shoot-Outs - day2 Main Event)

It's fair in the loser bracket.
And about bo1 in qualifier, this is a motivation for higher player to avoid it ! That way place #1 - #16 & #17 - #32 wont see any bo1 until main event loser bracket.

If the top players get a big enough advantage via seeding it should be good enough.
Top 16 getting seeded is fine imho, but I don't think ICCUP will fill up the next 272 players to the qualifiers.
Event will be streamed, for the cast we will have a main cast team and are still looking for foreigner languages cast, feel free to add ur cast team on the list you can found here: http://www.iccup.com/community/thread/652261.html
New season started, the end of this season (2month) ranking will see the top #288 playing the main event ! So better start fighting right now ^^
Stay tuned, and remember, we so far we raised $750, with the help of everyone we hope been able to reach $1k ! So dont hesitate for donation, even $10 is highly welcome.
The concept can remind lot of things even some from pgt/wgt.
Cheater (hacker/ladder abuse) aren't new and we have advantages on our side, 2month to spot them been the main one.
Now unfortunatly hacker & cheater was here before and will still be here after us, best things to do is handle them in the best way possible.
Also remember this part of the rules: • In case of strong hack suspicion issues during the ladder phase, Admins reserve the right to deny the player to compete in the event.
When u reached B- last season u have 2000points(D+) in next season. And then respectively; B 2500, B+ 3000, A- 3500 and I believe A 4000. In my opinion it doesn't rly make sense, but duh.

It's to separate the higher ranks from just the "D's" in the new season. But then again, it's not like they're aren't going to make new ID's anyway. =P

hey iccup last week motw=bad now motw=very bad something to change pls because it does not help more players and morea games.. one tip fs all time here in motw .. I do not understand why do not you understand this.
iccup admins are noobs and spoiled kids. they dont understand what map is good or bad and they dont listen ppl's opinions. they just dont care about maps and pick them randomly. that is why u always see hunter in motw. come on, dare to put big game hunter in motw?

You play on FISH isn't that even worse?
And also the players pick the maps via voting. Also Gemlong 1.0 and Resonance II 1.0 happen to be really good maps. They just happen to be not used in tournament play (Foreigner maps).

If thats how you explain your opinion that don't really suprise me if they prefer to ignore you...
Hunters was official proleague map for 2v2 for many years, that's why it's still in motw from times to times.

It's not admin decision, it's iCCup politics, FS won't be motw every week.
Actually there is lot of restriction for chose the motw, so yes sometimes less liked map are put in motw but never alone, this week La Mancha and Medusa are very decent map. (alternative & benzene be very less played)
Yes, that is the sad part about it. People honestly complain they are allowed to play in a league nowadays. Moreover, they start to shit and flame. No moderation, but use ad hominem once and the world ends. -_-

1 thing i have to ask is why there arent separated 1v1 motw and 2v2 motw, because when hunters/vampire are motw, its not fun to play those in 1v1. the same applies for 2v2, who will only have 2-3 motw max because of 2 player and 3 player maps being motw. the thing i really liked about the old motw system in 2008-2010 was that 1 of the motw was always 1 of the 3 courage maps and they kept rotating so u always had 1 map which was pretty popular at that time. if we would have a similar system with 1 motw rotating between for example fs-desti-hbr-python (the now "most popular" maps) it should be easier to get games going. (or u rotate between tls maps for example, so u can actually ladder practice for a tournament) the problem is not map balance, its popularity. currently it just isnt easy to get games, i mostly have to play vs 2 ranks below my own rank, which will net myself only a mere 50 points. and if i now look at a motw and see this motw or the last motw, its extremly discouraging to play. this week: hunters for 2v2, alternative and benzene have a combined popularity of 0, so u basically have to decide between la mancha and medusa, most likely for medusa. last week: basically all maps have 0 popularity, but the one with the best popularity out of all 5 maps (which still isnt popular at all) was eye of the storm.
for me the only problema is hunters- but hunters is a map for clan league this week.so i cant really complain when i also told admins to add the two maps of clanleague.but yeah not one like those maps except me :p
Since always people want FS motw every week, this wont happend, as already said, it's iCCup choice, not admin choice, so basically we try to do the best out of the restriction we have.
The event itself is iCCup Ladder Main Event, not FS ladder event. so yes most of the maps within the map pack will be used.
Also as :Eon: explain, motw always have Clan League map every weeks, so basically you can have every weeks a map to train, up to you to play in the Clan league or not.
Last point, the mappool itself for the event come from a vote with most of the actual top iCCup player (all wasnt available at that time). So yes, popularity is a part of the maps choice.
Because a map don't have popularity doesnt mean it's a bad map, if no one want to play them it's maybe because people only know how to play FS & python in ladder and don't want to learn anything else.
And as already said countless amount of time, FS wont be motw every week.

Don't take this the wrong way, you know me, I know you - you are at the wrong place with a legit claim. Hence nothing will move. This is for anyone with a "complain" of any sorts. Teamliquid is not ICCup's Feedback Forum. None of the ICCup higher ups will read here on a daily basis. This is not meant as offense towards anyone. It simply is hard enough to do the 'every day tasks' of an admin on ICCup without checking a vast number of community portals.
It's a bit naive to assume the admins didn't try to create a system to please everyone. We did, more than once. We added public votings, two different systems, three if you add the combined system. Regardless, only three people in average voted, hence it was given up at some point. I'm quite sure Soldier doesn't add random MOTWs. However, it is one out of a dozen tasks he has to do for every week, he now manages more than three departments in Brood War alone, as well as most parts of DotA2 EU. There's man power lacking. Also, it doesn't matter what and how you prepare MOTWs, you will get more negative answers than positive ones. I remember making four MOTWs with a lot of thought and four ones with a random function - in all eight cases I only got negative feedback. You can imagine how much fun it is to create a MOTW set.
So, if you want to have things changed, it'd would probably work best if you'd give it a go yourself. Spend an hour or two on the selection of MOTWs. Here's what you can use:
Week #1 // Lost Temple // Hunters // Rush Hour // Nostalgia // Blue Storm
Copy that shit and send it to Soldier. Tell him how and why you picked these maps and if he would be able to add it. Note, might not happen this season, but he'll definitely think about it for next season. In theory (!) you should also add this restriction to your process:
CL Maps must be part of the MOTW set
Which would mean two out of five choices are locked already.
No matter what you do, if you complain here and not approach the right position you, imo, have no right to complain ever again and you're a big moron (not adressing bakuryu here obviously!)

It's one of the information threads among various community pages. Feedback should be done where it is read, not where non-admins and casuals read up on information.

Regardless what you'd like to believe, there are many people on there dedicating a ton of time to the website. It's not like we live in a world where everything can be perfect without effort. Now on TL they have announced a great tournament with a prize pool that will no doubt help out foreign competitors. And TL took an open gesture by posting the announcement in community news.
It's not fair to judge harshly and possibly cause ties to be broken. Please act more mature about handling your disagreements as this is a lesson that will be carried with you for the rest of your life. It is my hope that posters from this point instead of criticizing you can help encourage you to post better and show support for this great community that has been built over the last decade.
Maps should reflect wtf is going on. You guys are hosting an iccup tournament to produce more numbers on the server. The majority of players only like particular maps, therefore just rotate between 3-4 maps (one EVERY week) and then add 1 map for the clan war OF THAT SAME WEEK. Then you guys can do w.e the fk you want after that. example: MOTW: (Choose one-> Python/FS/Destination/HBR if you choose a 4p map, add a 1v1 map somewhere as well, should always have 1v1 map) (Clan War map-> Choose the icc-cl map of the CW) (2v2 map-> CHOOSE ONE ONLY: hunters/circuit breakers, etc) Random Map: Maybe new map you guys want to implement to your tournament stages Random Map: Any

Because someone changed your flag, manually. It's not automatic, everyone can play with a fake flag without any proxy.

I have been thinking about this for a while and it's a good time to make a comment about it. If you qualify for the ladder main event and have more than 250 games played, leave your name here and I will personally train you to a minimum of b-, any race. (this includes analyzing all your reps, giving you note summaries, 1v1 practice, etc) if you are already around that level and wish to advance further we can negotiate. (as it's much harder to train someone as good as me)

I think you are golden, they should have a few tournaments to inject some points :D. I was trying to get all 3 my races in top16 but there's not enough time.
Screenshot not yet available, but i'm working hard on sorting the top 288.
What i can say for now:
Yes some top16 are removed, suspicion of drop hacker mostly (mb few smurfs).
Still trying to solve one case of a player who might have chronical lag problem on iccup (no name, no which hunt please)
About the date: Phase1 (top 33 - 288) and phase 2 (top 17 - 32) play 07 december Phase3 (top 1 - 16) play 14 december More infos about that tomorrow, official news etc
I stop the gossip here and go back to work on that ^_^)
PS: skzlime  you needed 2hours of play within 2months to qualify T_T)
Notes: - the standing is being updated, with that the info linked in the iccup forum - there's a small chance you'll be moved up if you're #289 - 300 - even though most of the iccup fourm says "no" under approved, most nicks are in, 6-7 are still pending (abuse accusations, wrongful reports, bad manners, shared accs) - now the news also has a link to the sheet directly, so braindead spanish zerg players, whose nick dont start with Z (<3 ZaRaki), might find it by reading carefully. if they could read at all

Cryoc Notable B high with like 150-130 stats He's notable because he got lucky vs a few good players. He's notable because a caster liked him and made it public.
Scan is going to take this, even if Sziky stands in his way. Anyways, this is going to be very interesting on how this all plays out. Bound to find some great games with these players.
There's a live cast atm @ bisudagger's stream http://www.twitch.tv/bisudagger I think it's ladder replays. Sziky vs Brain[Pain] was shown @ Eye of the storm

I don't really think he's got lucky vs "a few good players". He won a "few good players" on a more regular basis. He made a very good fight vs. Michael not too long ago, beat players like TTF and dsaqwe in the bw.de HST Tours, took games from players like Anfod in the Defiler Tours. He's by no means a tournament favorite, but he earned his spot. At least he didn't dodge good players from what I saw and signs up for many events.
Who cares about ladder stats. He has pretty solid results in various clan leagues and recently made it to ro16 of TLS3, so yea, Cryoc is notable player.

Notable is like you went through some tournament and got some victories and people know you. Basically it doesn't matter how good you think they are, they still have some time they have been viewed by people watching the stream.

Who the hell are you anyway?
Nobody good, but i agree with the person who asked why cryoc is notable and scan isn't.

Because Scan has a tl.net wide ban for now. Liquipedia include.
