Birdie presents... THE FIRST CAPTAINS' TOURNAMENT!
You know all those cool dudes who run the D rank teams for the team leagues that are awesome? Well, it's time to find out once and for all until the next time which is the mightiest of them all!
On Thursday, Aug 15 8:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) the contenders for the throne will meet in a round of 8, best of 3, duking it out to see who will make the round of 4. Immediately after they will fight it out again in yet another best of 3. The finals and third place match will be a week later.
But who are these mysterious contenders?
L_Master, captain of Team All Kill Kings, the hero of the people, opera singer extraordinaire, and most honourable Protoss player of the D ranks!
Xkcd, captain of Team Sun Khan, amazing artist, superior talent, this guy taught Classic how to play Terran!
Floladriblere, captain of Team Airforce ACE of Spades, the furious Frenchman who out TvT's everyone, yet is even better at playing his main race of Protoss!
Pebble, captain of Team Sun Khan, hard as a rock, his back is strong from being a turtling Terran, you don't want to be caught between this guy and a hard place!
Squishy, captain of Team DeSPA, his race of Zerg may be a squishy one but when you're inundated with vast hordes of squishy stuff you won't be laughing then!
EchOne (aka prophecy_), captain of Team Courage, is really scary. And plays Protoss. mummy plz halp meeeee

Referees... RedAxis aka Sync[gm] and Nagisama will be the referees, as I'm going to be playing.
For the Round of 8, the first map is Wind and Cloud, and then the loser picks for the next map. Loser of the second set chooses for the final map. For the Round of 4, the first map is Circuit Breaker, and then loser picks in the same way as the Round of 8.
Finals will be a Bo5 in the map order given, played on the 22nd. Third place will be a Bo3 on the first three maps in the order given, also played on the 22nd.
Aaand TL's time function is bugged too, post RE updated with HOPEFULLY the correct time and date for everyone. It's Friday 5am KST, Thursday 1pm Pacific Time, and I believe 10pm CEST Thursday. Apologies yet again, I won't use TL's time function anymore because it's been too erratic T_T

Just as a forewarning: I am plagued by two random events that force pausing in my BW experience. Random color errors and family. I apologize in advance if I need to pause during the games, or am forced to go afk. Depending on the situation it's possible for family to occupy me for upwards of an hour or two, so it's up to you guys whether you want to just declare walkovers in that situation. I understand this is supposed to be live cast so hopefully no untoward circumstances arise.

I've offered to play Zerg in Squish' stead, but I don't know if Birdie will accept that as a replacement. Otherwise good luck everyone in the tourny!
Oh snap! This is in an hour. I'll be at work till 4:30. What time do you think Ro4 will happen? Is every game going to be casted today? Trying to see if I can be home in time. Also interested in casting the finals. Saw this thread so late but good luck to all the contenders!

I don't know when Round of 4 will happen, depends on how long the games take. I doubt every game will get cast today, but probably there'll be a couple livestreams happening at the very least.
Could definitely have you casting finals depending on how it goes with dRaw and Ninazerg.
TheMarine will be substituted in for Squishy, he will be playing Protoss. He's captain of Team Hwaiting Oz this season and Pebble444 is OK with him playing Protoss.
Streams going live now, NinaZerg and dRaw are offline on Skype at the moment so the cast may or may not be happening, we'll see how it goes

Yeah because there's a week between Ro4 and finals but Ro8 and Ro4 are on the same day; he couldn't make Ro8 which would mean either pebble444 walkover or TheMarine substituted in (arca couldn't and I couldn't get hold of you in time, didn't know who else could sub in). Given it's an eight player tournament having one set not played is somewhat a big deal, and pebble444 was happy to play TheMarine so we rolled with it.

I'm not complaining about TheMarine getting subbed in (I would have declined to play if you did get a hold of me), in fact I'm not complaining about anything. I just find it hilarious that Squishy doesn't get a PP, yet you overrule Nagi's decision (after you made him 'admin' of the thing) to give TheMarine one.

And it IS definitely a weakness. Gonna need to practice versus that, and its 2 gate form quite a bit, as it's evident in my games vs you and from a while back versus Sent just how bad I am against it.

Game 2 I felt like he would cheese, I thought it was BBS though not 8rax. What's the key indicators that it's only proxy 8rax as opposed to BBS? Wish I'd scouted the right way TT
Oh, I just thought your ZvT was the strongest because you mentioned that you were 100% ZvT on this season of iCCup somewhere...
If it was BBS, more often than not, there'd be 3 marines that start off the initial attack instead of 2, or it'd be the most effective if it was 3 marines if it was BBS. And even so, sunkens are not necessarily required, although it does give off the sense of security. What a Zerg is SUPPOSED to do is have drones and lings go past the original marine army and intercept incoming marine reinforcement while the lings being made kill off the original marines.

Game 1 coulda gotten done a lot faster if you'd gotten the 3rd gas immediately rather than all the macro hatches Birdie :D
Game 2, Flo shoulda just made a second bunk closer to the choke and finished a rax instead of pulling and he woulda had a good contain for a while, although that bottom left hatch mighta bit him in the ass later!

My desktop background isn't just MY face, I can tell you that... T_T But I guess it is awkward to see your own face everytime you start up your laptop.
I'll most likely be casting it tonight, or Lmaster will be casting it. Either way, as it is a ZvP, and I know nothing of the matchup, it's probably best I have someone to co-cast.
I agree wholeheartedly, although game 3 and somewhat game 2 I played OK. But a pretty bad series compared to what Marine and I are capable of, I'll try to show better games in the finals ;D
prophecy_ may need to play 3 hours later than the scheduled time, that's fine for me but of course makes it harder for those planning on casting and watching.
