I think strategically, as long as action prevents the probes from mining the 3rd, the nexus is just a waste of time/units for him to kill. He just needs to control that large ramp and contain him.

He'll get it eventually. MarineKing can 14CC every game, I'm sure Flash has to ability to do it to, with more practice.
And perhaps scouting the push BEFORE there where two sieged tanks and a bunker at his natural ramp. He literally didn't see the drop until it was in his main.

With late gas, you are weak to 3 or 4gate pressure, so you get robo often and expand (excess minerals). The easiest counter to a robo build is phoenix play. It's a very cool build, we saw hero[join] use it earlier in the week as well.
On July 30 2012 17:09 N.geNuity wrote: eh I think mini could have gotten a tie if he just stayed on high ground and built a pylon
he didnt have any sentries though. the same outcome would have transpired. phoenix get vision of the high ground, stats' army walks up the ramp and lifts up the units, etc. harder to kite but i think he could have done it.
shuttle top right, CH bottom left. CH hidden expo at his third, pool up for CH. wall off going for shuttle and has nexus almost up. natural now being taken by CH.
I am mildly offended by how long those Phoenix were idling next to overlords and not attacking them. Shuttle's Phoenix control is faltering, but I guess he's doing a lot of damage nonetheless.

Kespa zergs continue to suck at ZvP. I can understand him not recognizing a big Roach attack would likely destroy that Stargate build, given he hasn't been playing much. But committing to heavy Hydra and walking them across the map (with average creep spread) is pure amateur stuff. Jesus
These Protoss aren't good, they're simply looking great against Zergs who act like they don't know what a Colosus is.

That's twice today Flash sent a scout out to find a sieged tank literally in his ass. That army walked right by Flash's Xel'Naga tower, too. Flash needs to scout aggressively, especially if he's going to be that grredy.

Again, the tanks were seiged up and at his ramp before Flash scouted the attack, both times. His scouting is abysmal.

In all seriousness, I like to see him try. Maybe he'll stumble on to something. SC2 could certainly benefit from some new ideas.
I don't think Flash's TvsT is at the level of IMMVP or MKP for him to pull off the greedy 3 CC every time. STX simply knew Flash is greedy so they played accordingly. Chalk this up as a learning experience for Flash.
Flash is still adjusting to SC2 - it looks like he needs more time. He is not as good as Reality or Soulkey yet but I think Flash will come around. In any case, Flash is light years ahead of Bisu at SC2 so I'm not too worried for the time being.
Clide needs to give Flash some solid SlayerS Terran builds and he will blow your mind. Look at how bad jangbi was in his first game (good micro and execution, but outdated build), then compare it to his recent games where he looks incredible.
People just assume everyone knows the best builds and doesn't just wing it on ladder or in practice. The players who use strong builds are winning more than anyone else, especially when their execution and mechanics are really good.

Stop trolling man . If Flash doesn't have talent then nobody else has any talent in e- sports as well ... Flash started dominating the moment he became a Progamer , but it took time to get to his full potential . Flash is experimenting with builds right now in SC2 , to get the feel of timings and counters and whatever . He will still be one of the best players when HOTS comes out and when he understands the game better . The problem with SC2 is that he has been practising it for less then 3 months , while in BW he was already fucking good when he became a pro , since BW wasn't forced on him like SC2 is . He is still really good for the amount of practise he has put in . He would blow 99% of the foreign scene with just his macro . The fact that he is losing so badly is because he is experimenting with builds . When someone gets 6 consecutive finals in GSL and OSL in SC2 then you can start talking to me that that player has more talent then Flash .
BW was nearly solved while SC2 is still going to evolve - again wrong . Every year in BW there are new strategies , being used and units utilized like never before .
By the time WoL begins to get solved everything will go back to scratch with the expansions so the game really isn't evolving . TvP has been the same in SC2 since forever , PvP isn't even at the point where players have figured out how to take their expansions safely . PvZ also hasn't made any huge progress . People figure out things when Blizzard "balances" something . So i don't see it evolving much . Only notable progress i've seen being made in TvT and TvZ . And everything will go to shit in HOTS , since it doesn't even feel like an expansions then rather a completely different game .

I can understand his frustration. Everyone expects you to be the best and when you're not having the results it can be a vicious cycle. I hope with Clides help he can practice better builds and hopefully understand the game a bit more.

When has he laughed about a loss... going 0-2 in a PL match and losing it for your team isn't something to laugh about, nor is an 0-3 against Fantasy. The only time I've seen him laugh (well a smirk) was his loss against Dear (ended his 15 win streak).
Jaedong's play improved a bit when Cezanne started coaching, MC mentioned he practiced with him, Team 8 has been able to practice SC2 longer than KT Rolster, Jaedong was eliminated for OSL so needed to practice Brood War less and zerg is imo easier to learn than terran, not to mention the fact that Flash's play style depends quite heavily on game sense, something that really requires a lot of practice and familiarity with the game. So I would imagine we can expect Flash to not do so well for another few months, but his mechanics and overall talent might still shine through in the end.
We might see him at the next MLG as one of the seeded players. I'm going to hope for him to be matched against Goody (another seeded player), and then I'll secretly root for Goody to win, just to see the reactions in the TL Brood War forums. ^^

Agreed.
Flash was basically using the same build that he used since that over-the-shoulder vid of him playing SC2 surfaced and that Kawaiirice game on Cloud Kingdom. Basically fast-expanding and going for Marines off of 3 rax and going straight into reactored Medivacs, maybe with upgrades off of one Tech Lab and either one or two Engineer Bays upgrading attack and/or armor. But basically delaying Tanks in favor of lots of upgraded Marines with fast reactored Medivacs. Of course, there are small variations here and there, like opening with either 14cc or 1rax gasless expand or even going for a quick, greedy third like in his game against Classic today. But I'm just a Plat Terran so this might actually be bullshit.
Against BaBy earlier this season, the style worked fine. But Classic and Last punished it hard with a 2-base timing attack with Siege Tanks, which is something that I've been struggling with on ladder whenever I try to emulate Flash's build. I see it more as a BO loss than Flash sucking. He really needs to look into more technical builds instead of relying on this one as it has obviously been figured out by STX Terrans.
I'm very excited to see what Clide can do with the KT Terrans because they have the talent and potential to be some of the best KeSPA Terrans once they understand the game a bit better and play with better builds.

mechanics are still a huge part of this like microing a large engagement while still macroing and that stuff. granted its much easier and noob friendly so that all the players that didn't have a good mechanics as flash (a lot of people) have now caught up or even surpassing flash because their understanding of the game is larger than flash's.

No. It's just his TvT build that he had been using since his first SC2 games just happened to get hard-countered by what the STX Terrans were doing. And he plays too passive against some Zergs. Once he fixes up these two big problems, I can see him doing much better in SPL.

People don't realize the two best teams, T8 and Stars, both have Cezanne and Ryu Won. It's no surprise the two teams with the actual SC2 coaches who know builds, what to do in situations, etc. are the two favorites to make the final. I think it's too late for KT to actually make the playoffs except if they make a miracle 7-0 R3, but Clide should help them from next season on when it's purely SC2.

It's not so easy as to say sc2 coach = imba
At this point I would go so far as to say that is actually true. The BW guys, before christ the sc2 guys came over were just horrendous, now they play in a much better fashion with an understanding of the semi-current meta. Yes they aren't as good as they will be, but this massive jump in game understanding and build knowledge has made a huge difference.

Yes but...
Jaedong and Baby are two of the most talented RTS players in the world. The strange thing is that they under performed with the old format, not that they play well now. And that could be explained in the same way: bad practicing conditions and lack of a good coaching staff (which SKT and KT obviously had).
