In sc2, protoss heavily relies on sentries early game. Because their units are slow but strong, they are very vulnerable to fast run bys and counter attacks and surrounds. Sentries force field is designed to cut enemy army size in half and used for base defense. If you have 15+ sentries, you can infinitely just forcefield for a long time.

A counter to mass forcefields is using infestors with fungal to snipe sentries and whittle away the protoss ball. Soulkey just never had time to tech.

not true, infestors and zerglings beat that pretty handily, he had no backbone to his army besides sentries, just about 5 immortals. get rid of the sentries and its gg

27 sentries = 1350/2700 in resources. That's actually not supposed to happen.

Most higher tier units crush sentries (like, 3 fungals, and they're all gone), but Soulkey was trapped on pure roach.

He needed about 5 fungals and all those sentries would have died.

He had 1500 gas during that last part of the game. Infestors cost 100 minerals, 150 gas. That's 7 less roaches, 9 if you count the energy upgrade. Those roaches wouldn't have made a difference since they'd only get trapped in force fields.

Fungals destroy sentries.

No sentries, units get surrounded and die.
